the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Well Sean Salisbury picked the Titans so I change my mind. Go Titans!
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 I watched the SC segment... let me get this straight.. McNair DIDN'T practice everyday before this year? WTF?
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 McNair has been so crippled the last few years, I think they gave him like an extra day off a week at least, to heal up.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 McNair didn't practice a DAY for like a month and a half last year and still played MVP ball. That was when the Titans won like 12 out of 13. I believe he had multiple injuries: Back, toe, thumb, shoulder something like that.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 what makes you think that McNair won't get hurt again this year? who's the backup in Nashville?
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 THATS a definate weakness. We got rid of Neil O Donnell. Our backups are Billy Volek and Jason Gesser. Both had lackluster performances in the preseason.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 The funniest part of this whole thread is that everyone assumes it will be Titans vs. Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Ask the Titans what would happen with another visit to New England in the playoffs.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 11, 2003 (edited) The Titans aren't even the 2nd or 3rd best team in the AFC right now. Indy still has a win over the Titans to prove that and New England is 7-2 despite a mile long list of injuries. If the Titans could actually run the ball I might believe they were decent. Edit: Also the Chiefs have faced harder defenses overall. They've faced the Bills, Steelers, Broncos, Browns and Ravens who are all top ten ranked defenses. I also don't think McNair is the MVP. Off the top of my head here are some better candidates: Peyton Manning Dante Hall Priest Holmes Jamal Lewis Clinton Portis Ray Lewis Randy Moss Stephen Davis Edited November 11, 2003 by Mad Dog
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Clinton Portis should NOT be on that list.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Dante Hall? 4 kick returns for TD aren't good enough Stephen Davis? We held him to 16 yards in one game. Portis? ????????????? Manning? He doesn't have near the numbers McNair does. Jamal Lewis I can somewhat understand. The bottom line is(and Sean Salisbury said this exact thing in the Titans vs Chiefs segment) Steve McNair is the MVP. And it isn't even close. The margin between him and the rest of the league is as wide as the grand f'n canyon. In the preliminary Pro Bowl voting, he led the LEAGUE in Pro Bowl votes by 10,000 vote margin over the second highest player. He was given 1st half MVP by EVERY publication, including ESPN. Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 I nominate the 6 Rookies of the Patriots (all combined) as MVP's How many teams that have 6 regular playing rookies have you seen with a 7-2 record after 9 games? Including wins over Miami and Denver on the road, the Titans at home. etc. Of course i'm not serious but it is still a great story this year.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Puh-lease the Eagles secondary trumps the Patriots patch up job. At one point Michael Lewis was the most experienced player, with a full 7 games started.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 LOL True, but at least the Pats beat your Eagles in Philly
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Steve McNair: QB rating of 107.3, 168 of 255 for 2179 yds. and a 65.9%. He has 15 TDs and 3 INTs. He's fumbled 7 times and lost 4. He's rushed 23 times for 84 yds. and has 3 TDs. Peyton Manning: Qb rating of 99.4, 212 of 315 for 2475 and a 67.3%. He has 18 TDs and 8 INTs. He's fumbled once and hasn't lost any of them. He hasn't really rushed much this season. And Dante Hall is an MVP candidate b/c most of those 4 TDs were tide turners and GWers for his team.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Stephen Davis? We held him to 16 yards in one game. Who cares? The MVP isn't like the Heisman trophy, where one bad game against a good opponent hurts you. If the Panthers end up winning their division, very likely, and Davis ends up leading the NFC in rushing, again very likely, it would be hard to argue he doesn't deserve MVP consideration. Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Dante Hall? 4 kick returns for TD aren't good enough 4 returns for TDs puts him up there for best of all time (the record for punt and kick returns is 4, I'd say that the total record is around 6) that's not good enough? sure.. it doesn't meet the standard of God McNair, but, that's not good enough? Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 I just wanted to say that I'm glad someone else got really sick of Rob's constant "nyah nyah, my favorite team is still undefeated and rules all of you!!" posts. Without that fluke interception (not saying it just because it happened to my team, I consider any interception off of a tip or something that isn't really the QB's fault a fluke) against Green Bay, their undefeated season would have ended right there at Lambeau. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted November 12, 2003 Dante Hall DOES deserve to be on that list... he has saved the Chiefs' ass many times this season.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 I'd chalk the fairly mocking tone of when you posted the thread about the Bengals guarantee up in the taunting column.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 how was I supposed to treat a guarantee from the freaking Bengels? but.. since you think one post means 'constant'
Just John 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 Living in KC and regularly watching NFL-related programs, I am incredibly sick of the verbal BJ's given to both teams. Yeah, the Chiefs have a good team, but their schedule is pathetic (not that it's their fault). The best teams they've beaten are mediocre at best (GB, BAL, DEN) and there's not a good team in sight either. I'm sure they'll go 15-1, but not to the Super Bowl. The people at ESPN and such jack off to the Titans every time they're mentioned. Once again, a good team and to their credit, they did beat Carolina, but also lost to NE and IND. Too many people are overlooking the Patriots (my pick from the AFC).

He hasn't really rushed much this season. Please note which of the above gentlemen actually has a running game to support him. Tennessee is fourth in the league at longest yardage faced on third down. Despite that, they have one of the best offenses in the league because McNair is the man. There's no doubt in my mind he's the MVP, and I think the fellow in second place would have to be Stephen Davis.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2003 how was I supposed to treat a guarantee from the freaking Bengels? but.. since you think one post means 'constant' That isn't the only example, it's just the most glaring one, and the only one I cited. I'm not one of those freaks who's going to search through the boards for all of your posts or something. Emoticons are cute.
