Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted November 11, 2003 About a year ago I sold all my systems to get a gamecube. Now that I have a job and more money I bought back my N64 and a few wrestling games at a local game store to go with it. While I was there I saw a dreamcast system for $30 and a good number of dreamcast games for really cheap. Should I get the dreamcast, or would it just be a waste of money? And what games should I get if I do buy the dreamcast?
Renegade 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 (edited) Yes, the dreamcast has an awesome selection of games. So if you see for cheap go buy. Also DC games are quite easy to find over the internet. Games I recommend: Crazy taxi 2 Soul calibur The king of fighters 99 evolution/99 dreamatch/2000/2001/2002 Ikaruga Bangai-O Daytona Street fighter alpha 3 Street fighter 3 double impact/third strike Sonic adventure 2 Shenmue 1 and 2 Garou/Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves Cannon spike Ferrari F355 Challenge Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Zombie Revenge Jet Set Radio Power Stone 1 and 2 Samba de Amigo Project Justice Ecco the Dolphin Resident Evil Code: Veronica Space Channel 5 Get Bass Capcom vs. SNK2 Fire ProWrestling D Virtua Tennis 2 Edited November 11, 2003 by Renegade
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Buy it along with a PS controller converter and get the NES controller from Pelican or Madcatz. Emulation on the Dreamcast is worth the $30.

I second the HELL ouf of that statement. It's worth $30 just for the NES disc ALONE! razazteca, where can I get that converter and everything? I've been stuck with playing the NES games with the damn Dreamcast controller, lol. Oh yeah, get Fire Pro. Wrestling D and Giant Gram 2000, two of the best Pro. Wrestling games of all time, and both are in my top four. Buy them, download them, burn them, just GET them. Toukon Retsuden 4 is pretty damn good also, just get them all. I've been stuck with playing the NES games with the damn Dreamcast controller, lol I found it at EB at the mall. I have a converter that came with a PS2 controller, its a gray box from Pelican. My local EB has the Madcatz retro NES controller for PS2 for $24.95. I have seen a GC/PS2/Xbox converter for $20 at the same store. Electronic Boutique or Gamestop.com should have these products. Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 22, 2003 Alright, I'm bringing back this thread because I went to a local EB Games today and bought a used Dreamcast for $20. It came with the controller and I bought a new VMU, Crazy Taxi and NFL 2K1 for $9 altogether. When playing a game the system is really loud, I'm sure a good cleaning will make it run smoother. Where is a good site online to buy games? And do I need some type of converter to play Japenese games like Fire Pro?

I don't know what the hell an ISO is, but I'm interested, DH. Where is a good site online to buy games? And do I need some type of converter to play Japenese games like Fire Pro? You're pretty damn late in the game to find the good DC stuff... As for the latter question, there's a disc called the DC-X (usually you can find one marked down at EB or Gamestops for 8 bucks or less) that allows you to play imports on your Dreamcast. I'd recommend to anyone to get a Dreamcast except if you only play RPGs (it has Skies of Arcadia, but otherwise is kinda lacking in that area).

Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 Where is a good site online to buy games? And do I need some type of converter to play Japenese games like Fire Pro? I don't know of a site to buy them, but you will need a converter if you buy an import. I bought Giant Gram 2000 and I have to boot it up with another disc. Either one you burn yourself, or a DC GameShark. If you burn them the right way though, you don't need a boot disc. That's what I've done with Fire Pro. D and a few other ones. The FP that I listed before is self boot after you simply burn the file.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I own the Euro import of DOA2 but disc 2 is missing what was on that disc?
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I'm brand new to Dreamcast, how would I go about burning games? I do have an internal burner on this computer.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 (edited) Get Nero, Alcohol 120%, Disc Juggler as your burning programs. DC emulation Edited December 22, 2003 by razazteca
Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I've started using Alcohol 120% for everything, and I've yet to have a single problem with it, it's great.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I think I say this in every thread which involves emulation and ISO's... DC++ You can find all the good dreamcast games for download if your in the right hub.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2003 I bought my DC in it's last couple of months alive as a system. It's one of the best I've ever had myself...My poor system got leaked on due to roof problems, so it doesn't run very well anymore but I still use it. The games I play the most are Fire Pro D and Power Stone 2. I also still play NFL 2k1 from time to time aswell. Power Stone is like a toned down verison of the Super Smash Brothers games with anime-like characters really, but it's very good mindless fun.
Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted December 22, 2003 Ok, I'll say this again, I'm EXTREMELY new to all of this. Now I have DC++ and Alcohol 120% and I have no clue as to what to do with them.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted December 23, 2003 When playing a game the system is really loud, I'm sure a good cleaning will make it run smoother. If you're up to it, grease the metal track the sled rail rides with a plastic safe grease. It'll result in quieting the beast and games will load a bit faster too. It's really easy to do, Dreamcast is simple enough to take apart.
