Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 Hey Scots, how well do the SNES and Genesis emulators work? I've tried some before, don't remember the names, and they either ran like ass or were the size of a postage stamp on the screen.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2004 SNES runs at about 90% and there is a Genesis emulator that works but it is warez ask you know who about it.

Anya 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2004 I think it's one of the more overrated consoles around, with maybe only Saturn being more overhyped. Besides a few SNK games and SF III the fighting library is very exagerated. Most of it can be found on PS2 or PSX and the 3D games like VF3 and SC are outdated and have sequels on newer systems. Still, it's cheap, so it's worth having.
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2004 The real benefit to the Dreamcast is that piracy is mindblowingly easy, hence it's recent popularity. It's why I bought one about a year ago: 30 bucks and all the games you can download. It's a great deal.

Still, it's cheap, so it's worth having. How you could say the "fighting library is very exaggerated" is beyond me: Super Street Fighter II X Street Fighter Alpha 3 Marvel vs Capcom 1 Marvel vs Capcom 2 Capcom vs SNK Pro Capcom vs SNK 1 Capcom vs SNK 2 Street Fighter III: Double Impact Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Plasma Sword Last Blade 2 Garou: Mark Of The Wolves King of Fighters 99 - 2002 Techromancer Soul Calibur As for the stuff that can be found on other systems MvC2 was a HORRIBLE translation with slowdown, game mechanic changes (none for the better) and graphics that didn't look nearly as good as the DC. CvS2 is a respectable port but it still have slight mechanic twitches (why they felt the need to change things is beyond me) The KOF Series turned out horribly on PS2 Soul Calibur II was beyond the DC, I'll give you that much. The Dreamcast is a fighting game fans dream. There isn't a hardcore SF Competitive player that doesn't own a DC. It just has too many good games (translated properly thank goodness) for little to nothing in cost.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 Compared to its arcade counterpart or even emulation rom Garou is not a good port.
Anya 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 How you could say the "fighting library is very exaggerated" is beyond me Because saying stuff like MvsC2 on PS2 is "horrible" and "doesn't look nearly as good" is hyperbole. They are nearly the same. Anyone who doesn't already have a DC is not the type of uber hardcore fan that's going to care about some REALLY minor differences. Like I said, it's cheap so there's no reason not to pick it up, but almost all of it's stuff can be found on other systems besides a few SNK games and SF III...which is backed up by your own list. and you left out Project Justice! Still, it's cheap, so it's worth having. The PS2/PSX versions are either poorly translated or inferior in some other ways. Soul Calibur 1 plays better IMO than SCII, and Virtual On Marz doesn't compare to Oratorio Tangram. Also, fighters for DC left out of the list: Vampire Chronicles Project Justice--which Sakura mentioned. Psychic Force 2021 Power Stone 1 and 2 Dead or Alive 2 (Hardcore on PS2 is another half-ass port) Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram Guilty Gear X (yeah, its on PS2 and a good port, but it's still a DC fighter)
Anya 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 The PS2/PSX versions are either poorly translated or inferior in some other ways. Yeah, but just how inferior? In most cases it is really exagerated. The SF games are fine on PSX. DOA2 HC's graphical differences are minor and it has extras. The versus series on PSX is an exception, but the others are perfectly fine. Though I like MSH vs. SF on PSX.

Though I like MSH vs. SF on PSX. Look at Capcom vs SNK 2 on one of the next gen consoles, then the dreamcast. If you cant see a difference then all hope is lost on you. Saying that the DC has a much exaggerated fighting library is just plain out wrong. Countless fighting games have already been mentioned which are either exclusive ports or just simply superior to rival ports.
Anya 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2004 "Countless games"? Uh, ok. More like 20, most of which are either crap like Psychic Force, B list games like Project Justice, or just fine on other systems like Guilty Gear X. Then there's SF III and a few SNK games, which is exactly what I said all along. My point is not that the library sucks, it's that it's overhyped. It's the best place to go for 2D fighters from the late 90's on, but where's the 3D stuff? VF3, DOA2 and SC1 are all pretty much irrelevant now and there's no Tekken at all on it. The ports like Alpha 3 and CvsS2 being slightly better than other system's doesn't override that. Maybe you all don't care about 3D, but MY "dream system" isn't just Capcom and SNK titles. But 3 more... MK Gold Jojo's Bizarre Adventure DOA 2 LE

Anya 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2004 You're quoting two totally unrelated sentences. They're not even part of the same paragraph. The list at the bottom has nothing to do with the first quote, it's just a list of 3 more games for DC nobody has brought up, from any company.
