Donald's sister (Who, to my knowledge, has never been seen in aything) sent the kids to live with Donald for a while, because she was apparantly a terrible parent.

 

Well, OK, I don't really remember why, but I mean, she evidently FORGOT where her friggin' kids are, because she never gets them back.

I always wondered if Donald was really in the Navy, though. When I got older, I theorized he was probably an abusive parent.

 

Yes, Donald was in the navy. There's a few episodes of the show where he's seen working on a navy ship (Though he's generally just mopping the floors.)

He appeared in several branches of the military over the years.
