HHH vs. Foley for WMXX?

Recommended Posts

Foley would defeat Triple H is and only if he is in shape.

Why would Foley get the win, while RVD and Booker wouldn't you ask?

Foley is a 3-time World Champion that has history...and in some cases, had drawn well with HHH before.

RVD and Booker T are midcarders on RAW. Feuding with Christian and Scott Steiner.

Learned what?

How you sell storylines by jobbing and doing subtle things like showing intimidation, making your opponent look like a credible threat, not playing politics, giving back to the business and making new stars.

Idiot.

Yes, and putting Foley over HHH would be great for business, because it would get Foley over for his upcoming run on top...oh wait. NEW STARS NEED TO BE MADE ON RAW, one time special matches are nice, but they don't help anyone.

And he's retired so what would be the point? Why not give the win to someone that can use it.

Yeah and who's fault is that?

I could care less if it's a ***** match in your eyes or a **1/2. Ratings matches by stars mean crap to me. I want to be entertained and I think Foley/Triple H could still do that.

I don't think anyone questioned whether HHH and Foley would produce a **** match.

The question was "what would this match serve a purpose for?"

Honestly, besides Goldberg, HHH (as of now...and time is running out...) has no credible opponents for WM.

Unless they seriously, seriously build a RVD/HHH title match (which I personally believe will happen...despite RVD swimming in the deep end of the crowded midcard pool right now), HHH/Foley is just fine.

It adds star power, and I'm sure the two could work something good.

<thinks back to days before SummerSlam '02...

(Scott Keith rant)

"OH MY GOD HHH SUX AND HBK IS CRIPPLED!!! NEGATIVE FIVE STARS!!! THIS PROGRAM IS ALL ABOUT THEM!! ITS GONNA SUCK AND IM GONNA LAUGH!"

And Foley ISN'T returning from a broken back. Plus, HHH is better in the ring than he was in Aug. 2002.

Please, don't open up that old can of worms again. We all know why there are no credible main event players on Raw. Bad Triple H!

However, we're talking about Triple H and Foley pulling off an entertaining match at Mania. Could they and would it be worth it?

To the guy that just said "whose fault is it" that RVD and Booker T aren't seen as credible challengers, I'll answer that.

It's the fault of both RVD/Booker, and the WWE writers.

RVD's peak was Summer/Fall 2001, shoulda been taken care of there. Was defeating Austin & The Rock then...now is losing to Sylvain Grenier in flag matches. His lack of microphone skills hurts his chances for a long title reign.

The writers have also fucked up RVD. You fans blame HHH for holding RVD down? RVD was granted a RAW TITLE match at Unforgiven 2002....less than a MONTH after the RAW TITLE was established. You honestly think they would've had a title change so SOON? Why? Cause the SHITTY buildup was there only because RVD was a stupid 4 corners match? Please. WRITING screwed RVD, not Triple H.

Booker T just isn't a credible challenger, sorry man. From his "poor man's version of The Rock" in WCW 2000, including STEALING HIS FUCKING FINISHER, he has always been a second-rate character. The writers in WWE have realized this, jobbing him to everyone, everywhere, in his hometown, etc. He's an ok workers, but not Championship Material "People Like Him" honestly DON'T deserve to main event with HHH. That's not racist, just an opinion of his skill. He gets Undertaker heat...pops during his entrance, but limited ring skill, with ridiculous moves "the wait 20 seconds...axe kick..." COME ON.

The writers have to do a better job. Kane, RVD, and Goldberg are the only potential credible challengers for Triple H. RVD isn't right now, but could be with the right venues and writing. Kane's a boring heel right now, so that leaves Goldberg. Yay.

Let the rampant HHHate begin...

Just for the record, I didn't post this because I like reading HHHate. I know this is forum death here, but.....I like HHH. Always have, probably always will. I don't think the guy is really horrible right now as much as he's kind of lazy (see that HHH-HBK feud last year if you want an example of a MOTIVATED HHH, or that HHH-Nash feud at Bad Blood- why no one's praised Hunter for managing to get a DECENT match out of KEVIN F'N NASH is beyond me).

As for HHH-Foley, I'd be entertained. It probably remains one of my all-time favorite WWE feuds, so a little nostalgia wouldn't do anything to hurt. As someone else pointed out, who the hell else do we have on RAW to face Hunter, besides Goldberg? If Goldberg is REALLY leaving post-WMXX, he'd better be in some new dream match (vs. Brock or vs. Austin, guys) and not facing Hunter for a third time (fourth if you count the EC).

And finally, as for RVD.....I like the guy, but please, blaming his de-push on HHH is bullshit. The writers fucked up his push all the way back in November '01, where he went from No Mercy Main Eventer to feuding with the Undertaker for the Hardcore Title, and it was only further downhill from there. And by the way, that was BEFORE Hunter showed up.

Fuck this. I'd rather have Orton / Helmsley and Foley / (Vince) McMahon instead.

Yes, let's all praise HHH. He ALWAYS puts over the younger talent. DAMN THOSE WRITERS! Triple H had RVD MADE at Unforgiven 2002. What with his GREAT selling and the fact that he totally squashed RVD. In conclusion:

TIRPLE HHH IS G0D BECUZ MOST SMARKS DON'T LIKE HIM AND I AM GOING AGAINST THEM THEREBY MAKING ME C00L~!

Well, I would imagine no one else wanted to work with HHH at Mania...don't blame them, given the inevitable outcome.

As for Foley, the past year or so has shown that his integrity can be bought pretty easily, so if he wants to whore himself out to the McMahon-Helmesly Reich one more time, that's his business.

Uh, didn't Hunter win when Ric Flair interfered?

And yeah, I'm just doing it to be cool. Sure. Why don't you search what little post history I have here and find the numerous times over the past I-don't-know-how-long where I've defended Hunter and stated that I've been a fan of his since '97 or so. But thanks for playing.

Foley/HHH would be the equivalent of giving a malnourished person cotton candy. Sure, it'll taste good, but it won't do anything to help him out.

HHH/Foley would get huge hype, eat up a lot of air time, and get a high place on the card, which is too high a price for a match that means absolutely nothing.

Personally I would have Foley cost Austins team the win at Survivor Series. The next night on raw have Foley come out and blame Austin for stealing his spotlight. He should say he should have been the one to lead the WWF not austin. Have him blame Austin for ending his career early. Saying since the fans chose Austin he had to kill himself with bumps just to play second fiddle. Have him cut the same anti-hardcore promo he did in ECW describing how the fans and austin have caused him so much pain. Then build the legends match for mania of austin/foley. I guarantee if you let austin and foley book their own stuff it would draw.

That would be much beter than HHH/Foley. Austin hasn't had an official retirement match/send off and WM XX would be an appropriate time. However, I think Austin/Hogan (if at all possible) would be a bigger draw.
