Guest Markingout Report post Posted November 18, 2003 "IWA Mid-South wrapped up their seventh anniversary weekend in Oolitic, IN on 11/15. Ian Rotten and J.C. Bailey did a 43:00+ draw inside a cage. They both got color. Storyline for the early portion was Rotten working over Bailey's leg that had been "injured" at the previous night's show in Scottsburg, while Bailey went after Rotten's shoulder, hand, and later his leg as well. The ref counted both down for the ten-count after they simultaneously KO'd each other with punches. Rotten challenged Bailey to another match since this had a non-ending, a fans bring the weapons, falls count anywhere for the return to Oolitic on 12/13. Necro Butcher turned on Cpl. Robinson during their tag match with the Lancaster Twins, attacking him with a pair of scissors. This sets up a Robinson-Necro thumbtacks match for 12/13. Danny Daniels kept the IWA title beating Spyder Nate Webb with a tombstone onto a chair. Axl Rotten also worked. Next weekend, they are in Highland (11/21) and Lafayette (11/22). Highland has the Rottens & Balls Mahoney vs. Daniels & Brad Bradley & Ryan Boz, plus a three way TLC match for the light heavyweight title with Sonjay Dutt defending against Bailey and Webb, and the first match in a best of seven series between Alex Shelley and Jimmy Jacobs. The Scottsburg show on 11/14 drew about 25. Guess it was a good call to cancel Jerry Lynn off that one. There are no plans to return there." Credit: 1wrestling Jeez, that is really low. Is that the first time they had a show in Scottsburg? IWA usually draws like 100-150 on average right? Sorry, I really dont know much about IWA. But I know enough that if they draw 25 something has too be up. They are pretty known to smarks.
Guest bort Report post Posted November 18, 2003 IWA has been having trouble drawing latly, i know they lost there normal buliding awhile back but 25 is scarcy, i would say they are one of the best known smart mark feds so i am surprised that there drawing so low, good idea to cancel Jerry lynn cuz he would have cost more than the show drew
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted November 18, 2003 That's pretty bad, but it's not the worst. Worst was when 8 people showed up and they cancelled the show. The average IWA crowd I'd say is between 50-100. They run in one of the poorest, most dilapidated parts of the country, that's their major problem.
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 (edited) That and when you don't do any local promoting at all. I mean, one of their new locations is a high school, right? Flyer the shit out of that place and promise a deathmatch, and the little 16 year olds will have to come out and see that shit. Hell, promise them beer afterwards and the attendance will be uber-high. Lord knows teenagers will do anything for alcohol at times... Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 25....Jesus. The indy show I went to on Saturday (which sucked ass, and was free) in a barn somewhere in Connecticut had 40 people in the audience.

Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted November 18, 2003 "Worst was when 8 people showed up and they cancelled the show." 8?! When did this happen? it was a week or 2 before they lost the old building and was more like 10-12 as they phrased it as "barely reaching double digits" anyway they make their money on tape sales so the gate is not too critical
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted November 18, 2003 The live gate is very important. First off, IWA-MS doesn't even get all the money from the video sales since they are sold by Smartmark. Secondly, and more importantly, they run one or two shows every week. People aren't buying every show. I don't even think most people buy 1 out of every 3 shows. The pool of people that buying any of their shows can't be very large either. The tape sales aren't nearly enough to cover the money they are losing on drawing 25 people to a show. It's a two part thing - - tape sales and the gate.
Ultimo Dugas 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Wow, there are more people at our local fed CPW than that. And we have a former WCW Power Plant guy main eventing...
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Damn, if they were MI, I would go to their shows, I know a lot of people that would. You and me both. They had a show last year with a really good Punk/Cabana match where they worked on broken ropes in front of about 28 people. I went to a show in 2001 with Simon, Dawn Marie, Kid Kash, Roadkill, Punk, Cabana, and Hero that only drew about 30 people...it was a hell of a show. But it was the promotions first and last
Guest trickstyle_360 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 IWA needs to promote more, bottom line...I just can't see anybody drawing people to shows with just a website alone. Like Sandman said, if they wanna draw, just flyer the hell out of the place. I think they should run less too, instead of running shows like 6 times a month, just run 3 times a month in the area. LucharesuFan619 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Promise them beer afterwards and the attendance will be uber-high. Talk about unprofessional promoting. You're suggesting that they promote beer in order to get fans to come to the show. We all know that that wouldn't be looked upon positively by anyone, whether it be the Internet or the local community. And if it weren't to be frowned upon by the Internet, the ONLY reason would be because IWA has a generally good rep of being quality wrestling that doesn't get the support it deserves. If it was XPW following your suggestion, we all know that there's be ppl. bitching left and right.

Most people on this board have a sig. So, logically, u get to the point where you just ignore them, or so is the case with many people. Again - it was quite unclear and very easy to interpret as being unsacrastic, if that's a word.
