FF X-2 thread

Recommended Posts

I got it yesterday. The problem is, I'm near the end of Wild Arms 3 right now and don't want to play two RPGs at once so I've barely played it. I think I will finish WA3 tonight so I can really get into X-2.

So far it rules though! The intro is like the best thing ever. The "girly" tone everyone talks about and bashes is funny and charming, like I thought it would be. Paine is so cool too.

Who else has it?

Damaramu said you were banned...but whatever. You're here, and that's all good with me. It's always good to have a fellow FF fan around. ^_^

Anyway, I don't have it yet, but my sis said she'll buy it for me. Until then, though, I'm going to rent it tomorrow for two days [dipping into my X-2: X-Men United fun, ja, but it's worth it!].

Don't have it yet, went with Double Dash instead because my cousin's staying with us for the week and I figured it'd be a bit disrespectful to be emersed in an RPG, so yeah (he's another gamer). I'm getting it on Friday, so I'll report back then, but needless to say I can't wait.

I'm going to wait till December 12, when my exams are over until I buy the game and a new PS2 along with Smackdown!:HCTP. Until then , I expect this thread to make use of the spoiler tags :P

I had it preordered so I got it today. I still have to fight the final bosses in X and beat the game before I start X-2. I'm probably going to wait till after Thanksgiving when most of my school work is done to start playing.

You have the will power to actually do that?

Very admirable.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of VIII, but I tolerated it enough to go back and FINALLY finish it.

As another FF (specifically X) fan, I just now got though chapter 1 after a little less than 10 hours of gameplay. I'm going through it as completely as possible so I can catch everything. So far it's been fun. Dresspheres are an interesting way to go, although to be honest I miss the sphere grid. Side jobs are weird but kinda fun (a couple gave me a WTF? kinda feeling). Hedy Burress has done a much better job voicing Yuna this time around, and Paine talks about as much as Auron did in X (not much) but she seems to be well voiced as well. Rikku is Rikku (i.e. badly in need of a Ritalin drip). Good to see how the characters have developed in the past 2 years, although some have gone farther afield than others (those of you who remember Issaru are going to laugh at what he does now). Still kinda waiting for the main plot to develop, so I'll see how chapter 2 goes.

I actually waited 3 days to crack open Here Comes the Pain since I had schoolwork. It's very possible.

I thought Sakura was just accidentally-banned like a lot of the posters appeared to be like when the board was restarted.

Incidentally, where the hell are the rules and regulations for the board? I'm curious since I don't really remember them all.

Although for something related to the game--I saw a guy and a girl purchasing FFX-2 together (aaaawww  ). Another girl soon after went to the counter and asked about...Toe Jam and Earl for Genesis. So, I kindly asked her which ones, she replied either, and I told her you can probably find the second one online cheap or at Gamestops after the employees said they didn't have it, but that the first one is super-rare. So, she thanked me and left.

So uh...apparently at least one girl around here it into the game. Probably more. *shrug* I thought I had a point to this...

Uh, no. I'm a huge FFVIII fan. In fact, it reguarly competes with FFX for my second-favorite Final Fantasy game (FFVI is my favorite, of course). It literally changes based on the day.

Haven't gotten it yet, but plan on getting it tomorrow since FFX is in my three favorite games ever.

I won't say whether FFVIII is good or not since I haven't beaten it yet, and I refuse to rate it until I see the ending.

Haven't gotten it yet, as my part time job has been reduced to a fraction time job, and I'm right in the middle of Skies of Arcadia. So it'll be a while.

But I played the demo and saw the Eternal Calm video, both provided by OPM, and from what I've seen I agree with Conspiracy_Victim - Yuna's voice acting sounds much better this go round.

I picked it up today, along with Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town for my GBA, but I have yet to start either of them.

I'll post some impressions when I've logged a couple hours into the game.

I guess I'll add to the thread by talking about FFX-2.

No I have not gotten the game. It is very low on my priority list. I have been playing HCTP lately and I plan on picking up:

-FFXI

-Counterstrike Condition Xero

-Medal of Honor Rising Sun

Before I even think about X-2.

Well I'm at the last part of X. Though I don't understand the hype around Lady Yunalesca. I easily beat her on the 2nd try.

Since I read a game magazine that said the point of the game is finding spheres that help you figure out why Tidus disappeared and then to help bring him back, and I hate that stupid bastard I'm not purchasing the game. I'd rather he stay stuck in whatever dimension he's in playing underwater soccer with his daddy.

Wakka was cool though because he was voiced by the guy that did Bender's voice in Futurama

Ok, I have played a lot more now. Game is incredible. GOTY!

I really like the "girly" tone. It's funny and charming. Paine is awesome! I get a kick out of her serious and business like attitude compared to Rikku.

I also really like the new battle system. Simple, fast & fun, but with plenty of options. It seems really easy to get new abilities. I have already learned all the good white magic for Yuna in the White Mage dress. She can do Full Life, Curaga and Regen and I'm not even done with chapter 1.

My only complaint so far is that they didn't bother to change how Wakka and Lulu look. It's been two years, it's ridiculous they haven't changed at all. It's stupid how they poke fun at Wakka for being fat yet he looks EXACTLY like he did in X.

I must say --- the story doesn't immediately reach out and grab you. I'm giving it time, but the story has yet to really wow me.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, it's not exactly Tidus. The chick with the long hair ya see in the artwork with Yuna is named Lenne and the Tidus look-a-like? Well, I have no clue. The only spoiler I know about, I won't give away....I'll just say look closely at the flashy intros of Yuna [note the question mark...], Rikku, and Paine.

You serious? Daaaamn. Why did they make the sequal so easy? One thing that annoys me about sequals is that they try to make it 'accessible' for players that didn't play X. Seriously, what's the point in that? If you're a gamer that hasn't played X, why would you play X-2?

IT'S AN RPG.

Never have I played an RPG with a story that is so slow to develop.
