Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Then, on a whim, I go to Besaid. This...Youth League dude TOTALLY pisses me off!! Something about getting 500 points in that gun minigame. Gah, it's impossible not to get hit, thus, impossible to get 500 points. I practically threw my controller against the wall after I failed. Finally I said 'fuck it' [yes, I actually said it out loud, which is a rarity for me] and went onto a different mission. 'Course, I had spent so much time on the damn impossible mini-game that I had to take it back in less than a half-hour. Actually you can hit 500 pretty easily. As quickly as you can (without getting hit), go to the screen with the two bridges that are in front of the water. Stop so that the 1st bridge is visible on the far right end of your screen. Keep hitting the lockon button and you'll keep locking on the monsters as they approach. For the most part it'll be the 5 shot monster, then the 7 shot, then the 10 shot bird in that order. It'll change eventually since I think the 5 shot monster is a bit faster than the other 2. Anyway, use regular ammo on the 2 dogs then use a death shot on the bird, run up and pick up the ammo, repeat. You shouldn't get hit at all and eventually get to a level 3 chain, which gives you 15 points a kill. Do that up to about the 2:30-2:00 mark then start approaching the end of the level. You should have almost if not over 500 points by the time you reach the end of the road. Change screen, use a death shot on the machina at the end, then haul ass to the beach. I finished with about 650 points with no problem.

Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 28, 2003 Okay, I've been playing this game A LOT now, and the more I play it the more it grows on me. The battle/dressphere system is really lots of fun, and I've spent a lot of time just leveling up my characters randomly (I STILL haven't bothered with the Zanarkand mission, just leveling up and lots of side quests). Still, lots of fun. -Duo

I dunno, I'm old-school- whether it's required or not, this is what I'm used to doing in my RPGs so it's what I do. I know plenty of people who are the same way (including friends who are doing the same thing in FFX-2). To give you an example- did I have to max out all my Final Fantasy X characters to full stats with every ability on the sphere grid board? Nope. Was it fun? Hell yes. -Duo
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 I always thought it extremely tedious, albeit rewarding, but to each his own.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 It is not required. The game is pretty easy. I wish levels carried over to New Game + or at least give you the option. That Yuna outfit is cool. I wish I had Yuna's songstress costume.

I wish I had Yuna's songstress costume. I think your dress-spheres are carried over..........which is odd, considering the first mission is getting the 'Black Mage' sphere. I'm confused about that, but I'm sure I'll find out when I get the game. It's not required, no, but it's FUN. Totally! Personally, I thought the Luca side-quest where Yuna was dressed as a moogle was pretty amusing. I know it's breaking some Final Fantasy law by being silly, but whatever. Anya 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 Yeah, your dress spheres carry over. Those, abilities, items, gill, story percentage and accesories are what New Game + have. That moogle mission for Yuna was hilarious. I liked her voice when shilling balloons and how she would hang her head in that suit.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 Um, the shooting game is pretty darn easy. I got 1200 points last night. Just mash O a lot so you make sure you lock on to everything coming at you. Stay near the waterfall. And just shoot everything that comes at you. They can't move when they're being hit. Just use double ammo when there's two coming and make sure to pick up the treasure chests. If you're ever in a bind, just abuse death ammo til you're in the clear. You shouldn't get hit *period*

Anyway, it's quite annoying when she does that, especially when I'm like, surrounded.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 This Topic has either been deleted or moved to another message board. Return to the Topic List page to select a new topic. That was short lived... It was a topic about Yuna losing Tidus in FFX, but due to horrific misspelling by the initial poster, became a conversation about Yuna's tits. Go back and reread my remark above. I have difficulty not laughing during AngelSlayer's posts because his avatar causes me to read them in my head with an Arnold voice. And then posts like this send me near-hysteria. It's all fun and games until you elect the guy.

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2003 I just got the game today, and I'm enjoying it. That opening sequence blew me away, in how incredibly cheesy and silly it was. It's pretty hard to take the game seriously after that. But hey, doesn't seem to be a very serious game at all, so it's cool. Yuna running around in that Moogle outfit was gold. I can't say I like this battle system compared to FFX...this feels way more chaotic, it just seems to devolve into me smashing x a lot. Is it just me or is Paine just Kimahri/Lulu/Auron, rolled into one? It's very cool seeing the old characters again. And relearning how annoying it is to walk through the Mi'ihen Highroad. Or walk around the terrifying Calm Lands. Random battle every three steps.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2003 That opening sequence blew me away, in how incredibly cheesy and silly it was. It's pretty hard to take the game seriously after that. Do you mean the opening pop song, or the sequences which followed? To me, the FMV was really awesome. The fact that it was just LeBlanc really pisses me off [i thought it was supposed to be Lenne...]. Yuna running around in that Moogle outfit was gold. I totally agree. The voice actress really shined during that segment. She's more energized, and seems to be genuinely having fun. Is it just me or is Paine just Kimahri/Lulu/Auron, rolled into one? I understand the Lulu/Auron comparison, but Kimahri?
Anya 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2003 Well, both Paine and Kimahri are serious and not very talkative.

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 That's a pretty accurate costume. Good for her. The song as well as the sequence. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but it was very cheesy. I got a kick out of the Charlie's Angels vibe it had. And Sakura is right about why I thought Paine and Kimahri are similar. Quick question: my replies to the Ronso, do they matter? I'm just wandering around in Chapter 1 before going on the Zanarkand quest.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 LaParka: I think the resposes do matter somewhat. I heard a fight sometime later in the game can be easier if you respond in the right way. Plus I do know that there's a bit of a change later on (cosmetic oretty much) in the game if you get on the Ronso's good side enough. Also, I haven't had that much trouble in the Calm Lands. I remember X with the fights every 2 or 3 seconds but it doesn't seem nearly as bad now. The Thunder Plains and the walkways leading up Mt. Gagazet on the other hand are just as annoying to me. Anyway, now that I've finally finished the light side on KOTOR I can go back and finish it. I'm going to blow off the advertising and finding a wife for the dude and just going for it. Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 One thing I like is the realistic touches, like, for instance, what happened to Zanarkand. Plus, I like the open-ended aspect [where if you choose this, this'll happen, or whatever].
chirs3 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Only complaint I have thus far is that the different dress-spheres are entirely unnecessary for the first third of the game. I didn't need a White Mage, Black Mage, Gun Mage, or any mage in the first two chapters of the game, so I never used those spheres. Now that I need a built up White Mage in Chapter 4, I don't have one. So I have to go out of my way to build one up. It's not ruining the game or anything, but it is a little annoying. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I rarely change classes within a battle, unless I need some healing or something. Then again, I just started Chapter 2. Haven't touched the Black Mage outfit, and the Gun Mage is just now getting used by "P". This game is getting pretty cool now in Chapter 2. Very interesting. Is there a huge difference in the game depending on the choice you make at the beginning of the chapter?
Anya 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Yeah, it changes where you can go and what missions you get and the way people treat you is different. It doesn't change the overall story and endings though.
Kardo 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I just started playing FFX for the first time and seriously Yuna's voice actress is awful, is there much improvement in this one?
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I thought Yuna was a total garbage character in FFX, even though it was somewhat fleshed out. But I find she has a lot more personality in this one...the voice actress seems to have improved a bit as well.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 Haven't touched the Black Mage outfit, and the Gun Mage is just now getting used by "P". You haven't touched the black mage outfit yet? Odd. In my game, I have Rikku as the black mage almost all the time. Hell, I find her more useful as that than a thief. Plus, I think her black mage outfit just looks damn cool. Paine's b.m. outfit is pretty cool too, and I haven't even looked at Yuna's yet. I just started playing FFX for the first time and seriously Yuna's voice actress is awful, Before I got X, I read all these reviews saying she was awful and everything, but I didn't really notice it. Maybe I'm just weird like that
