I have heard (not experienced, mind you) that occasionally DSL modems get "conditioned" to the AC power they are plugged in and this causes it to slow down. Don't know why or how, but I've heard this.

 

The solution is to disconnect your modem for an hour or so from power and let it reset itself.

 

Like I said, never experienced it, but I read it somewhere shortly after I got my DSL connection.

Steps you should take:

 

1. Clean out your cache and cookies

2. Unplug modem from power and turn computer off.

3. Plug power back to modem and when the lights go back to normal for your modem then start up the computer.
