Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I've heard good stuff about him, yet when he shows up to RoH, they chant "Don't come back" or somethig like that. Then he only lasts 3 weeks in NWA-TNA. What is wrong with him? Is it just the fact he's freakin' big?
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Might be it. I haven't seen his Wildside work, though, so I don't really want to comment on his talent.
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I think the thing with Iceberg is that his big "selling point" is that he is a big and fat but can move around better then most wrestlers his size. So he has that going for him, but the question that usually comes next is: So what? That is great that he can move around better then most wrestlers his size. The thing is, there isn't much wide spread appeal for a big guy who wrestles "okay" when you can see slightly smaller guys who wrestle a ton better. Iceberg really doesn't do much more then you average big man in the WWE, so I never really got his appeal. As I said above, though, I am pretty sure that it at least partially has to do with the factor that he is a big guy who moves decently. Once you get beyond that though, he doesn't have really anything going for him.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 ROH did a poll asking if they wanted to see superheavyweights...like 80 % voted No, one came, and they let their voices heard.

Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 He's pretty dull. He's fat and can move faster then Big Show. Nothing to pay money for.

Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Abyss > Iceberg. Agreed on that point- Abyss/Justice is UNBELIEVABLE for a guy his size. Iceberg is...odd. I've seen him have GREAT matches with very good opponents (his series with David Young is the best example) and some pretty good gory bloodfests (Cage of Horrors match) but put him in a straight match with a subpar worker or a hoss and it's terrible (the Stone Mountain series is cringe-inducing- then again Stone Mountain is one of the worst wrestlers on Earth). Berg definitely didn't fit in ROH (although he did really well in the Bunkhouse riot on 4/12)- he's a better fit for CZW, he's got the pain tolerance to work deathmatches frequently. In fact, he was supposed to be a semi-reg in CZW, but Zandig's wonderful relations with outside talent screwed that up.

As I've said before, if you're not one of Zandig's homegrown "boys" it's tough going for you if you're booked there. Ian Rotten went into detail on it in the Q and A session at the Ted Petty Invitational. (there are recaps of it on the CZWFans board). I don't want to post a bunch of second-hand stuff on the board that might be only rumor, but I've heard stuff and if you're interested you can PM me, tons of funny Zandig shit.
