Booker T/Jerry Lawler

I've noticed a certain... air of inconsistancy in the usual suspects when discussing this situation between Lawler and Booker.

You guys (rightfully), say you want Lawler to start acting like a real heel announcer again, you say you want him to concentrate on the people in the match and not the main event. And then, when he finally starts regularly busting on a face. When he finally starts letting some zingers in like a COLOR COMMENTATOR (That's right guys: his job to add his two cents, and use his experience as an in-ring performer to put over angles and workers, NOT to call the match that's a Play-by-Play guy's job) should, you get on his ass about it.

Lawler busts on Booker T about coming from humble roots and being in jail. It's funny on occaision (The "We went to the mall and he tried to pay for everything in cigarettes" line from one of the Booker/HHH encounters had me chuckling), it's aggravating sometimes as well.

So what? HE'S A HEEL.

If it makes you mad, if you want Booker to win just to shut him up, he's done his job. Poking fun at Booker's jail time, (which unlike the Lawler underage sex scandel, Booker is actually guilty of, Nik) in a manner which angers you guys is what Lawler SHOULD BE DOING.

Besides, he's likely doing it on the OK of Booker himself, who are YOU people to tell him it's wrong if Booker himself OK's it?

Is Lawler really a heel??

If so, he's pretty damn inconsistent.

If they are going for the whole heel image, why not bash a few other babyfaces on a weekly basis.

Better yet, have Booker acknowledge Lawler and his lame comments. Have Booker just give Lawler a cold stare while on the ramp or SOMETHING. Just make it known that Booker doesn't like Lawler or Lawler doesn't like Booker.

I enjoy his pot shots at Booker, so don't get on my ass.

It reminds me of when he used to take random pot shots at Bret when he was a heel commentator with Vince.

I think in this instance people are busting Lawler's balls because he won't shut up about it and it's just annoying.

It's not annyoing at all. It's funny. It's only annoying if: a) you are a Booker T mark, or b) you are on of those ultra-PC types and think that Lawler doesn't have a right to make fun of Booker's past because he's black.

I enjoy it, it doesn't offend me in the least. I especially enjoy how it gets under everybody's skin. :)

That's the problem I've been having. But then, Lawler's never has been subtle. He always runs EVERYTHING he says into the ground. He's been screaming "Puppies!" for 5 years now. I wish JR would bring up some of the skeletons in Lawler's closet.

Like alot of people had said Lawler is ALWAYS bringing it up and running down Booker. And as for Lawler being a heel, get real, Lawler's all over the place.

I seem to remember Jerry used to be so amped whenever a spin-a-roonie happened. Then after the HHH "your kind of people" shit, he's been riding Booker.

It's not up to us to decide whether Jerry Lawler is a heel or a babyface, that's for the people to decide. The people that pay their hard-earned money to see the WWF live. Lawler has done some dastardly deeds over the years. He's dumped poor Andy Kaufman on his head, made Bret Hart's life a living hell, probably committed statuatory rape...quite possibly wearing his crown during the act...telling the truth about Booker T is far from the worst thing that he's ever done. Jerry Lawler, a good guy? I don't think so.

I wouldn't be so pissed off if Lawler hasn't mentioned Booker's jail time EVERY FUCKING TIME he's commentated a Booker T match.

I mean, he's been doing it for MONTHS now.

And while I'm sure Booker T is strong enough to take it, that must have been an incredibly embarassing portion of his life, and Lawler brings it up week after week after week.

You would think that someone like Lawler, who's had some pretty fucking serious dealings with the law himself, would be a bit more sympathetic.

When I watch Booker T in the ring, I am constantly reminded of his salty past.

The Book End is probably exactly how he opened up locked cash registers, since he could not afford the proper tools.

The Houston Hangover reminds me of a desperate criminal tumbling over the top of a chain link fence and into an open garbage dumpster, throwing caution to the wind with the police right on his tail.

The scissor kick looks as if Booker is attempting to hurdle something...perhaps that same chain link fence.

The Harlem Side Kick...incredibly effective for shattering car windows.

The spin-a-rooni...I can just see Booker having a breakdancing competition on the streets and dance floors of Houston with his gang of hamburglars before a big heist.

The wild series of punches and knife-edge chops...resembling a deranged criminal cornered in a back alley by the police, or rival lawbreakers.

I cannot blame Lawler for being unable to ignore this.

It's not so much that he's busting on Booker, but rather, Booker is the only face Lawler bashes on a regular basis. Not to mention, it's always for the same thing. If he's going to pick on Booker, mix it up a little, so he's not beating a dead horse. As it is, it makes Lawler look like a racist, and not a heel, since he's not really saying much against any other faces on the show.

And how is life in the Republic of China? If you are indeed a youth in Asia, as you claim to be. Or are you a poser fraud, hiding behind your computer screen in fear of being outed.

Is it much worse than basically discounting all of the improvement the women have had in order to scream "puppies!" all the friggin' time?

...God I miss Heyman on the mic.

And that, my friends is why Women's wrestling will never be serous to the marks.

Well, it's not like he yells "spearchucker" every time he comes out. Granted, it's a little annoying and unoriginal, but at least Lawler is showing more depth to his character than just the "horny, middle-aged man wearing a crown who cares about nothing but titties" persona.

Exactly.

If Lawler is going to be a heel, he should run down ALL the faces, and praise ALL the heels.

But he loves Trish Stratus because she has a nice rack, and he hated the Unamericans.

I'd like to see him rip on Booker and then have Booker say, "shouldn't you be cruising daycare centres looking for your next ex-wife, Jerome?"

Everything else I wanted to say has been covered (Lawler's inconsistency with his face/heelness, never shutting up etc).

Yeah, I know Jerry was never charged - I even commented on it. At the end of the day though, the accusations are still something dark from his past, and something he doesn't want mentioned; it's completely ignored in his autobiography.

I suppose that if Booker doesn't care about it being brought up - shit, Lawler could talk about anything from my past if it meant I could get paid six figures to do something I love - then it's not my concern. But Jerry comes over as a nasty bully, so fuck him.

Lawler didn't start with this prison record bull until Triple H did when Trips was running the "white people are better than black people and I'm going to prove it" angle.

If Lawler wants to be a heel, then be a heel. The only time the guy seems to be a heel is when Booker walks out. All Jerry needs is a white hood to wear when Book walks out to complete the act.

Least JR seems to know he's losing his mind, what's Lawler's excuse?

It has got old now.Didn't Jerry moleste a 13 yr old girl? His ass cant be talking about Booker T being in the wrong.

You mean The Kat?

If your referring to the one where he got kicked out of the WWF for, then NO. It was all a lie set up by the girl's jealous boyfriend.

Everyone needs to settle down, he's putting over an angle.

Booker T got a letter saying "I still remember" and Lawler is bringing up, more than before, Booker T's past.

Some of you should just relax, it's a wrestling show.

That's what I said earlier.
