Think Roenick ever snaps at Anson Carter at the NHL house?

He already kind of did, with "Get your foot off the table please" and then Anson put his other foot on the table.

Bet Jeremy didn't like when Rick or whatever is name is, left the dinner he made for everyone to watch the game.

How tight is it in the East? Have a look at the standings:

x1. Toronto - 59

x2. Philadelphia - 59

3. Ottawa - 58

4. New Jersey - 55

5. Montreal - 54

6. Boston - 54

x7. Tampa Bay - 49

8. NY Islanders - 47

Oh, have I mentioned how much I hate the playoff seeding rule? Because I do...a lot.

I hate it too. Look at Ottawa They have 9 more points than Tampa Bay yet they would be seeded 4th behind them due to the division winners getting the top three spots. Can't they go back to the old playoff format they used before 1994, I liked that better.

and they would have to play new jersey in the first round while tampa would play boston. So even though Ottawa has more points their reward would be playing the defending Cup champions while the Lightning would have to play Boston. When was the last time they even won a playoff series

but its not, and Montreal so far is up against Tampa :-D

Unless that jackass Gary Bettman's already laid down the law, look for some fireworks in tonight's Bruins-Rangers rematch.

There were 4 fights in yesterday's matinee, including an uppercut by Lindros that sent Thornton to the hospital. The reports around here vary from severe lacerations to broken orbital bone. He could be out anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. (one report actually has stated "permanent eye damage" but I think that if that were true it'd have been known by more sources by now) Two Bruins got game misconducts for illegal hits, although I truthfully think both calls were bullshit and were just made to keep the fighting down.

Either way, look for Bruins to make runs at both Lindros and Anson Carter, and the Rangers to go after Dougie Doull and Dan McGillis. I'd love to see an old-time hockey brawl, with all players on the ice dropping the gloves. Hopefully it's Potvin in net if that happens, I don't want to see Raycroft trying to fight Dunham.

Markov blows into Philly

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes acquired right-winger Justin Williams from the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday in exchange for defenceman Dany Markov.

Williams recorded six goals, 20 assists and 32 penalty minutes in 47 games in Philadelphia this season. In 226 NHL games, the Coburg, Ont., native has 43 goals and 72 assists with 108 penalty minutes.

"Justin is a very good, young player who already has three years of experience in the NHL," Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said in a release. "He will be a strong addition to the restructuring of our forward lines."

Markov recorded four goals with 10 assists and was minus-6 in 44 games with the Hurricanes this season. In 380 career games with Toronto, Phoenix and Carolina, Markov has collected 23 goals and 92 assists.

According to the NHL rumour mill, the Hurricanes may not be finished dealing. Star winger Jeff O'Neill is reportedly on his way out of Carolina, and the Toronto Maple Leafs could be the destination.

Toronto GM John Ferguson Jr. was in London, for the CHL Top Prospects skills competition last night, and couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Finally, Ottawa has clawed its way back to the top of the Eastern Conference. Nice win against Carolina and their good goaltending performance tonight.

Also, did anyone see the MURDERDEATHKILL of the Flyers by Montreal tonight? Seems that unless it's the Leafs, they don't even bother showing up.

EDIT: And the Leafs took it right back. Still had it for a few minutes.

Good trade by the Hurriwhalers. They need an offensive spark badly and they might as well start trying something new. Although if Williams only had four with a talented team like Philly, can he get more with the Canes? More playing time might be all he needs.

Can the Bruins go back to wearing the throwbacks that they wore tonight full-time? I know they're not that much different then their current ones, but they're so much better.

Its bullshit, but the bottom line is that you have to go out and win playoff series.

And the Leafs lose another player to an eye injury, this time with Darcy Tucker taking a high stick, again with no call on the play.

its getting ridiculous.

with the amount of eye injuries this year, it should be manditory to have a face sheild on

Giving up Williams for Markov. Could this be because they no longer have a blue chip prospect in the minors to call up?

And can anyone find me a pick of Lindy pummeling Thornton. I have a buddy who is a die hard Bruin fan (and especially Thornton although to his credit he stuck by Joe even in his rookie season) and would love to have the pic to constantly rub in his face.

Here's an interesting record...the Wild scored two goals in three seconds against Chicago tonight. Wild scored to break a 2-2 tie with 15.5 seconds left, then the Hawks won the draw at centre...but there was no one behind the centreman to take the tap back, and the puck sailed right into the empty net.

Posted
*shakes head* ...ugh... Wild get a hell of a break to get those points. That's just bull, but oh well.

May I ask WHY the net was empty?

*shrug* Well, there were only 15.5 seconds left. I guess the Hawks figured they couldn't get their goalie to the bench fast enough to have a meaningful advantage. Someone just screwed up the defensive coverage on the face-off...someone's got to get that puck if they win the face-off.

Posted
So who got credit for the goal, since no Wild player touched the puck?

He would have the newest record to score two of the fastest goals in NHL history

would it be the last wild player to touch the puck

The Hawks find more and more ways to lose in the most agonizing and embarassing ways. Is there a more depressing team in the leauge?

God Damn it, WFAN is reporting Rangers are close to a deal with Washington sending Carter and Purinton and probably some cash or whatever for Jagr. Is Sather stupid they need Goaltending and Defense not another High Priced offensive superstar. Plus with the current situation on the Blueline (Kasparitus out for 10-12 weeks, DeVries out for 3 more weeks and Poti's back acting up keeping him out) Can they afford to give up a defenseman? I know Purinton isn't Bobby Orr or Brian Leetch or anything but Christ I wish they would fire Sather..

Reports are that Ottawa is close to getting Peter Bondra from Washington for Vermette and Pothier.

I would mention the All-Star selections, but I'm still trying to figure out how to say "Keith Primeau, All-Star" without laughing my ass off.

Posted

You could start by saying:

Philly with Primeau: One of the better teams in the NHL

Philly with out Primeau: Shit

Despite only having 15 points Primeau is the Flyers MVP and I'm sure the guys on the team would say the same thing.

So team MVP of the 5th best team in the NHL. Hmmm, seems good enough for me to make the allstar game.

And, can nobody find a god damn picture of that Lindros - Thornton fight? I thought you people called yourselves fans.

Posted

Primeau making the AS team didn't surprise me ... Nick Boynton making it did. I like him, and think he brings a lot to the table for the Bruins, but I figured that he's a good but not great player in the overall scheme of the NHL. Having said that, though, I'm stoked that he made it.

And BwG, I could very easily find pics of the Joe-Lindros debacle, but don't think that I want to encourage you to mock a fellow Bruins faithful! What I will do, though is http://www.nhlfights.isgreat.tv/ ... I don't know the quality, I've never actually downloaded any of the clips. But they have clips of the Thornton/Lindros fight. (BEWARE - there is a 'not safe for work' picture on the bottom of the page)
