I haven't played IX or V, but I had to vote for the Cecil from the insanely overrated FFIV. I mean, I liked the game, but it isn't anything close to the ones after it in the series. It had some fun characters (spoony bard) but FFVI it is not.

Plus, he's one of the many pretty-boys the game has. Chicks dig that, thus, making non-pretty-boys jealous.

Bartz. He is considered the hero, but he is the least important out of the five guys who join you. He's just some guy. Galuf and Krile are far more important to the plot.

 

And why are so many people picking Zidane. Besides Bartz (who does nothing), he is the only FF hero that isn't a whining bitch.

I didn't like what I saw of Squall, but I didn't play the entire game so I have to go with Cloud.

 

OFF-TOPIC: Is there a way to change your lead's name in FFV? I put it in all caps, expecting things to be like they were in FFVI, and now I have Bartz's name in ALL CAPS while the rest of the party names are in lower case. It looks really stupid but I don't know what to do about it.

Still, Zidane rocks because he has a Saiyan-esque tail. A tail!! I wish I had a tail like that. Yeah, yeah, it's far from a necessity, but so what?

 

I still have my appendix, and what the hell for? A tail would be far more useful than an appendix. I'd trade my appendix for a cool tail in a heartbeat.

I hold the same opinion with Squall and FF8. It just felt like they didn't think the whole "love story" angle was enough, so they slapped together the stuff about SEED and the Sorceress to fill out the plot.

Squall was my pick, because everyone and everything related to Final Fantasy VIII was the drizzling shit and turned me off the series for good.

 

Cloud was just too boring. Spiky-haired hired mercenary with a love interest. Whatever.

 

I don't consider Terra the lead of FF6. If anything, Kefka was the lead character. Sure, you get her first, but I think all 12 principals are of equal value. Gogo and Umaro were nothing, though.

 

Cecil was a good lead, and FF4 is not overrated at all. That's all I've got. I've only played and beaten 4, 6, and 7; and still working on 5 when I can. Not touching 8.

All this Squall hate is depressing.

 

How anyone could hate Squall more than Zidane is beyond me, considering that at least Squall (like VIII) had actual personality while Zidane (like IX) had little to none. But whatever.

 

Squall rocked because of his attitude, and the character interactions and dialogue *made* that game. And, well, I loved the Squall/Rinoa romance, but I'm guessing most people here didn't. /shrug
