Guest Sturgis Report post Posted December 7, 2003 But why is Honey #2 though? Alba's acting is horriblem, hell she's on par with J.Ho in acting ability and talent.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted December 7, 2003 But why is Honey #2 though? Alba's acting is horriblem, hell she's on par with J.Ho in acting ability and talent. Mekhi Phifer (sp?) is a damn good actor, IMO, and he is the leading male.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 It probably didn't hurt that there really isn't much else for the teen demo to go see right now. Most other stuff is to adult or R (Samurai, Bad Santa, The Missing) or too kiddie (CitH, Elf [try convincing a 14-17 year old boy to go see Elf]). I think Honey was just in the right place at the right time.

MrRant 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Hasn't the Honey movie been done to death? Haven't there been at least one interracial dance movie a year or so? Wasn't O and Save The Last Dance the same thing?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 8, 2003 O? U are a god damn idiot. O was NOTHING about Interacial Dancing. "O" was a modern adapation of Othello. Peifer played "O", the star basketball player for a predominatly white private school and dated the Dean's Daughter and His best friend was the coach's Son whom was the "captain" of the team. The friend, jealous that "O" was getting all the love when he wasn't even reconizged by his teammates as the leader went crazy and hell bent on destroying everyone's life. It was a all right teen movie with serious "tones"... NOT A FUCKING DANCE MOVIE.

Wasn't O and Save The Last Dance the same thing? No, but they both had Julia Stiles in it, who hasn't done much since, I guess date porn rule about doing interracial also applies to movies too. And Choken One I think you went a little too hard on him, he just assumed because they had the same actress.

Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 One out of ten, and that was the obvious one, Last Samurai at #1. Oh, well, here's my top ten for next week... 1. Something's Gotta Give 2. Stuck on You 3. The Last Samurai 4. Love Don't Cost a Thing 5. Elf 6. Haunted Mansion 7. Honey 8. Cat in the Hat 9. Bad Santa 10. Gothika
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted December 8, 2003 No, Honey isn't like Save The Last Dance or O. Honey isn't about a midwestern white girl moving to the big city and learns "life lessons" from a street smart black guy, ala Save The Last Dance. As already mentioned O had nothing to do with dancing. Why the hell are we even discussing this?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Something Gotta give has no Draw power... Jack might be the big name but his movies rarely these days open at #1. Anger Management had Adam Sandler whom is often *always* BIG on opening day. About Schmidt which had a similar approach (Jack with Older woman) that didn't do anything. The Pledge? Jack does Indy doesn't draw. As good as it gets? Well yeah that was a hit that was CRAMMED with huge stars (Hunt, Kinnear, Gooding etc) However, there are no clear cut #1...since the other new movies Stuck on You and Love don't cost a thing doesn't have that #1 look. SOY likely looks stupid to a good chunk of the country and deservingly so...but it DOES has Matt Damon and he never does any wrong. LDCAT is a rewrite of the 1988 movie "Can't buy me love"...It has steve harvey which means INSTANT coolness but that won't draw... The other movies been out for a while...So expect a tight not so big weekend here... 1. The Last Samurai 2. Stuck on You 3. Something's gotta give 4. Elf 5. Love don't cost a thing 6. Honey 7. Bad Santa 8. Haunted Mansion 9. Love Actually 10. Gothika Yes, CITH falls out.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 1) Love Don't Cost A Thing A remake of a Patrick Dempsey movie going to be #1 that is one scarey thought. It shall be #3 if that high.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 LDCAT is a rewrite of the 1988 movie "Can't buy me love"...It has steve harvey which means INSTANT coolness but that won't draw... People will see this due to Nick Cannon being in the starring role. It's funny because "Drumline" opened up during the same weekend last year. He wasn't really known back than, nor was the entire cast (Minus Orlando Jones, who isn't a big draw himself) It was a good movie, critics loved it, and it ended up making $55 Million on a $20 Million budget. So... hey, you never know.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Can't wait to see LDCAT. It also has Melissa Schuman formerly of DREAM in it.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted December 8, 2003 and don't forget he's the only worthwhile person on that shitty E.R show. Do you have a death wish or something? Saying THAT in a thread in which I posted in. Mekhi's "Dr. Pratt" is one of my favorite current characters, but the show is far from shitty. It has really turned around since the horrible seasons 6-8, and sub-par season 9.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 1) Love Don't Cost A Thing A remake of a Patrick Dempsey movie going to be #1 that is one scarey thought. It shall be #3 if that high. Well, it seems like the type of annoying bad movie that will do really well for the sole reason of spiting me. That's why I believe it to be a good pick for number one next week.
