CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Check this PETA deal out... 'Impotence' Billboard Draws Protestors Jeff Dubois SPOKANE, WA, Dec. 6 - It's causing outrage in Spokane. A controversial billboard put up by the animal advocate group Peta, or People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals, puts Santa Claus in a compromising position. Now, some people are striking back, hoping to get the sign removed. The billboard, posted on East Trent just west of Fancher in East Spokane, suggests that Santa is impotent because of all the milk he drinks. Peta is using the sign to promote soy milk, and a vegetarian lifestyle. Workers at Spokane Yamaha in Spokane Valley have posted their own sign outside their business. It says, "Think Santa, Ban the Billboard." The protest sign isn't as big, but they hope it sends a strong message to Peta and the billboard company, Sunset Advertising. One worker, Mark Durgin says the owner of the billboard company should take responsibility and take a moral stand. "Apparently this person isn't a parent and doesn't have to explain it to their kids. It's an ethical thing and a money thing, and it's upseting a lot of people," says Durgin. The owner of the billboard company says, being in the advertising business, he has a responsibilty to uphold the first ammendment. He has no plans of taking the billboard down. ...come on, let's see someone show PETA some love. Whoever came up with that billboard should be forced to live on it. NYU 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Heh heh. Faux news. Never heard that before. Good one, JMA I'll explain. Many liberals use the term "Faux News" to describe conservative leaning channel "Fox News." In turn, SOME conservatives on this board will reply with "OMG, FAUX NEWS LOL!!!111 2003" whenever the channel's credibility is questioned. Seeing as this joke is old and overplayed, I was mocking it. Ah, I knew that ! This damn forum needs a sarcasm button. Seriously. I thought the winking face would have given away my sarcasm. Ah, well. Maybe I should have gone with the face sticking its tongue out instead.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 There was also a billboard in RI that had the words "Immaculate Conception" and the Virgin Mary holding a chicken.
Highland 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Good, I'm glad PETA is being exposed as the radical terrorist organization that it is. A pity only Fox is portraying them as such. On an unrelated note, but in reply to an earlier post: Japan is NOT > than America; all Japan has going for it are cool electronics and anime, socially and culturally they are far behind the rest of the democratic industrialized world. A Japanese man has a better chance of getting a job in America than an American has getting a job in Japan.

The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Yeah, that billboard needs to be torn the shit down. I can't imagine being a parent and having your kid see that. On that note, I'm gonna go drink more milk, then jerk off. Fucking PETA.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 I want to see the study that links milk to impotence. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just as valid as most scientific "findings" being trumpeted these days...if such a study exists.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 (edited) Regarding the placement of ads: I heard from some guy that's part of this "anti-PETA" group on TV a few days back. He said they are currently airing ads on a certain cable news network that everybody here loves to laugh out loud at in the year 2003, and then they're planning to branch out. It makes sense to me -- market yourself in a friendly environment before venturing out onto "enemy" terrain. I WILL NOT SIM-err. Whatever. Go Steelers! Hmmm, what does someone supporting the 2003-'04 Pittsburgh Steelers and someone supporting the 2003-'04 Howard Dean Presidential candidate have in common? (Hint: It has nothing to do with winning the Big Game.) We'll have the answer after a word from our sponsors... EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 To America, Japan's kinda like those alien symbiotes from the Spidey comics. It's got tendencies to be very weird and creepy, but is still beneficial to us and us to them, so rah. So you're saying that Japan is like Venom? So, they want to eat our brains out cause they think we killed their newspaper career by exposing their story about the Sin Eater was false cause the US found the real one? Hey I'm a Venom fan works for me.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Guys, the best film version of Godzilla was actually in the 90's, the AWESOME Heisei series that ran from Godzilla 1985 - Godzilla vs. Destroyah. Aren't they mostly xenophobic of other Asians? They seem to like American pop-culture. Gender equality is a big issue there. Too many females are having to do porno movies to make ends meat. Hopefully all this will change in the future.
Firestarter 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2003 Aren't they mostly xenophobic of other Asians? That too, but when I was there a couple of years ago it wasn't uncommon for me to be referred to as a "round-eyed barbarian gaijin slut" by people who didn't know I had an interpreter with me. Actually, by the time I left, I could recognise the term myself. The Japanese tend to idolise America to an extent, but they're still bigoted against Westerners as individuals. Too many females are having to do porno movies to make ends meat. That's one of the more grotesque Freudian slips I've seen today.

Well, I suppose, theoretically, they could go by the fact that the men who are a part of PETA are all dickless wonders and drank milk when they were younger. I mean, you go with those you know, right? OR --- ever seen the women who run PETA? Looking at them would make it difficult for me to perform, too. -=Mike
