NoCalMike Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 I really like Guiness, it is smooth, has a nice taste and the foam is adds that thickness to it mmmm. However, I must ask, is this beer meant to be knocked back like a 6 pack? I mean I couldn't imagine drinking too many in one sitting due to the thickness of the beer. It seems too filling. I usually start out with one guiness and then go to a lighter beer for the getting drunk part. Anyone know how strong Guiness is?
starvenger Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Guinness Draught is listed at 4.1% (by vol), which sounds about right. A draft Guinness should be a bit more though. And this is a personal preference, but you should never shoot down a good beer. Take your time and enjoy iy. Save the chugging for the regular stuff.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Nooo, Guinness is never drank in bulk...
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 I too am a lover of Guinness, but I never buy it from the grocery or liquor store. I only drink it at the bar. It's just not the same from a can/bottle. The Stout is ok in the bottle, but Draught MUST be consumed from a tap. I wouldn't drink it in bulk. It's like Jameson's. It's meant to be drunk at a nice pace and enjoyed.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 I once knocked back five pints of the black stuff at a bar. I wouldn't recommend doing that very often.

Ozone layers, space stations and electric cars be damned, making canned beer taste like a smooth draft beer is what the brightest minds in the world should be focused on... I once knocked back five pints of the black stuff at a bar. I wouldn't recommend doing that very often. I'd ask whether it was an Imperial or Standard pint (20 vs 16oz, I think), but then I realized that it probably doesn't matter - it's still a shitload of Guinness, and probably more than should be drank at one sitting...
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 The most I ever downed at the bar was 9 along with 4 Carbombs. It was one of those "drink 'til I can't see" nights. I regretted it the next day. Beer shits are one thing, but Guinness takes it to another level.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Man, I don't think there's enough room in my stomach for nine Guinnesses.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Guiness is too heavy to drink a shitload. But it is the best beer in the world. So Drink up sonny boy.......
NoCalMike Posted December 16, 2003 Author Report Posted December 16, 2003 I love the widget in a can thing......
