WWE News: Steiner, Val, The Rock, Edge, More

Recommended Posts

Some WWE news and notes....

- WWE used Mick Foley breaking Stacy away from Test and Scott Steiner as the explanation for why that team will no longer be together. Some are also speculating that Test is now in the doghouse following his loss to Steven Richards on Heat.

- Scott Steiner was scheduled to be on RAW last night but was pulled shortly before the show.

- Val Venis worked the weekend house shows despite having a sore rib.

- The Rock's movie, The Rundown, will be released on DVD March 23rd.

- Edge and Shane McMahon watched the Triple H/Goldberg/Kane match at Armageddon from the crowd.

What was with the RAW conclusion?

The angle that started last night when Mick Foley walked out on RAW is apparently the start of a long storyline that could end up involving both the return of Steve Austin as well as Mick Foley's WrestleMania return match. At this point, the likely match for Foley at WrestleMania will be a tag team bout where he will team with the Rock against Randy Orton and either Ric Flair or Batista.

Many people backstage in WWE were disappointed with how the angle was handled on RAW last night, feeling that the creative team "blew it."

Good news for WWE...

The buyrate for the WWE Survivor Series PPV, headlined by Triple H vs. Goldberg for the World Title, is now up to 390,000 buys which is a solid number and WWE's second strongest buyrate of the year (behind Summerslam).

WWE Vengeance, headlined by Vince McMahon vs. Stephanie McMahon, remains at just 245,000 buys. That makes it the least bought WWE PPV in years.

Geez I wonder if Vince will get a clue. HAHAHAHA of course he won't. He'll blame this on Eddie or something.

That little newsbit about Vince/Steph......holy shit....DUH!!!

I thought the Foley angle was awesome. I liked it, and I don't know what the boys in the back were thinking when they say the creative team blew it.

Well, let's hope they can carry the angle AND jeep it interesting until Wrestlemania XX. It better not become a crappy, boring, drawn-out feud, like any main event feud involving Triple H and Kane from this past year and a half...

I thought the angle was crappy for two reasons:

foley gave no reason for leaving

orton can't act

Then they could have done a better job then that.

Yeah, they just pretty much used him to put Orton over again.

I think it would've been better to have Foley start the match and then quit in the middle. If they had had his family there, he could have seen them in the crowd and then walked out. I think it is a bad idea to build up a match that people want and then deliver nothing, even if it is a good idea for an angle.

Although, I have to admit that I only read the recap and didn't see the show.

Who said Foley was gone for good?

Exactly I dont remember the bell ringing. (Unless I missed it) So therefore no match which means he didn't lose, which means he'll be back on the 29th to explain what the deal was. I think.

the problem was we heard this stip before...

when SCSA was co Figure head with no power like Bischoff...

Bischy would make matches to pit Austin's power in the balance, hence Survivor Series match.

Eric yelled at Mick as he was leaving and say "this is it...you're walking...you're gone for GOOD...bye bye" etc etc etc...

so in that respect...he *should* be gone...whether or not WWE Logic/Forgetfulness will kick in remains to be seen

When I read about it (wont see RAW until possibly Saturday), I didn't know what the angle was trying to achieve. I still don't.

Speaking of Edge, he is now 3 months away from returning to the ring.

Who here wants to bet that he'll make a surprise return at Smackdown's No Way Out?

I almost went to raw yesterday and I'd have been pissed of when Foley walked out if I did. Watching from home, however, I liked it, because it intrigued me.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. With business down, WWE really shouldn't be so anxious to use all of these bait and switch angles. It leaves people feeling ripped off and feeling less likely to buy tickets to future events...

That is awesome news.
