the max 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2003 I want to play ESPN, if they'd release it on PC already. NHL 2004 is awesome though.

Karnage 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Until EA makes XBOX Live compatible games, ESPN.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 NHL 2004 has a great soundtrack, improved graphics, and lots of other outstanding qualities. However ESPN Hockey might have the National Hockey Night theme. Hmmm...
Karnage 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 I think a Hockey Night in Canada game would be the greatest in the history of sport video games.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 I think a Hockey Night in Canada game would be the greatest in the history of sport video games. Only way it'd be great is if Don Cherry had Coach's corner like he always does after the first period...

Only way it'd be great is if Don Cherry had Coach's corner like he always does after the first period... Meh. ESPN NFL game did a pretty good job of Chris Berman's halftime thing, but I don't see it being done well with Cherry. What are they going to do, have a random Cherry nonsensical rant about Swedes or how great some Doug Gilmour is? Plus it would be pretty difficult to translate the awesome that is Ron Maclean over to video game format. His quips just wouldn't be the same. Get the HNIC presentation though, and maybe a couple of good HNIC announcers. I like Jim Hughson a lot from the EA series since he's the voice of the Canucks, but I'm guessing the ESPN announcers suck. Replace the ESPN announcers/presentation with HNIC and it should be enough to pry Canadians away from EA's NHL game.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Get Bob Cole and Harry Neale.... but then when playing against the Leafs, it'll be Leafs this, Leafs that, Leafs are the best team ever, There's always next year Toronto.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 They're actually doing pretty good this year. ... Which'll make it all the more amusing when they choke yet again in the playoffs.
Guest AllCanadian Report post Posted December 19, 2003 EA's got the connections they should try to hook up the HNIC style presentation(though they'll think it'll probaly tank their US sales). Anyway bought ESPN played a season wasn't super impressed so I traded my buddy for his NHL 2004 and have played/simmed my way into year six with the Canucks. Is it just me or do you always lose when you sim? I won the cup when I actually played my games then next year I simmed and was second worst in the league, got a top draft pick simmed again and came last the next year! Karnage 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 EA could also do a Sportsnet game. Hughson is the voice of the Canucks, Simpson does Sportsnet West and they useto have Don Taylor who did Sportsnet News. ESPN games are selling in Canada, I don't think a Sportsnet or CBC game would tank in the states since they will have superior commentary and presentation. Guest AllCanadian Report post Posted December 20, 2003 Yeah one of the appeals of EA is the Canucks are my home team and they have Hughston and the Canucks PA announcer in the game.

Yeah an HNIC game would be awesome but consider this: "HUH? Hockey Night in CANADA? I don't want this game, the Stars won't be in it. Dumb Canadians. Go Stars!" Yes. Dumb Canadians indeed, my puck-loving friend.
