Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Kylie joins Queer Eye Gay.com UK Thursday 18 December, 2003 11:33 Kylie Minogue is set to join Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, helping the "fab five" gay men give fashion tips to a heterosexual slob. The star is hoping an appearance on the show will help boost her pop career in America, and continue the success she has seen since her Fever album. She will appear in an upcoming episode on the US series, which will is likely to be shown on UK screens next year, The Sun reports. It is thought the appearance will coincide with the release of her Body Language album in the States and that her Slow single will feature on the show's soundtrack. Queer Eye could be the best way for Minogue to continue her recent US successes, as it is currently the most talked about programme on American TV, breaking ratings records for cable channel Bravo and making stars of its five fashion and style experts. Before Can't Get You Out of My Head, and the accompanying Fever album, was released in 2002, she was still largely known for her 1980s hit Locomotion, although she has had a loyal gay following. Meanwhile, a UK version of Queer Eye is still looking for its cast members, after initial episodes were rejected for not sticking closely enough to the US version. Living TV bosses rejected the first three episodes and sacked the men appointed as the UK fab five this month, and have since drafted in a new production team. I've seen this show a few times and every guy ends up looking like a damn banker. Funny, but they always look like a damn banker!!!

Seriously...the show is cut enough between four days and the Fab 5. Why does some singer need to ruin a show just to promote herself?
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 Regardless of whether anyone wants it, old women see fit to give out fasion advice all the time. Joan Rivers does. And my grandma is always telling me to tuck in my shirt.

Seriously...the show is cut enough between four days and the Fab 5. Why does some singer need to ruin a show just to promote herself? Retard. Kylie makes any program better. She's also viewed as somewhat of an icon in the gay community ever since doing some collaborative work with Nick Cave of the Pet Shop Boys. Each single gets a "St. Ken's Gay Pride remix." So there IS a reason she's on there that the article fails to mention. The guys are probably fans. I mean, ever wonder why she, out of all people, is going to be on there? And news flash: 35 IS NOT OLD, and she knows DAMN well how to dress.

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 When does this show come on, anyway? I'm going to watch it just to see her SCHOOL these dudes, and to see a US reaction to stuff off of Body Language, which is GOOD, dammit.

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Did you ever hear Nick Cave's early version of "West End Girls"? His portrayal of the East end boys is a little darker than in the single version.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Considering Birthday Party bassist Tracy Pew (seen below, to the right of Cave) often wore stetson hats, mesh shirts, and was always mustached, Nick Cave is so obviously gay.

That's either an unintentionally hilarious typo or an unintentionally hilarious misinterpretation of facts. And I just noticed this. Sorry, I was typing all of that really quickly and didn't notice that I should have put "and" in place of "of." I don't know much about Mr. Cave or the Pet Shop Boys outside of the music (which is really good, sez I), all I knew was that after working with these folks, Kylie got a gay following for whatever reason. For the hell of it, I'll download some of her stuff since you downloaded Acid Bath and some other stuff after I recommended it. Suggestions?
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 All right, since you probably wouldn't like the poppier stuff, anything off of Impossible Princess would be good. That's her best album, with Body Language being second. I would say get some stuff off of the latter album, but since it's so new, there are a lot of fakes floating around. Songs off of Impossible Princess to get: "Say Hey," "Did it Again," "Breathe," and "Through the Years." "Confide in Me" is good too, as is "Jump." Aw hell, download all you can get, and let me know what you think.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Uh, I may be in the wrong here, but I thought the group's name was "Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds" (as I have their album Murder Ballads, in which Kylie does a duet with Nick). Who the hell are the Pet Shop Boys?
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 The Pet Shop Boys are a completely unrelated act. Nick Cave was formerly of the Birthday Party, but upon going solo formed a group called Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Who the hell are the Pet Shop Boys? Ever hear "West End Girls?" Those are the Pet Shop Boys. They're still putting stuff out today (it's good too), but they haven't gotten much US attention since the 80s.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 If the two are unrelated, then Kotz, why did you say Nick was part of the group?
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 If the two are unrelated, then Kotz, why did you say Nick was part of the group? I corrected myself, since I was typing in a "defend Kylie against the idiot who started the thread" mode. Scroll up a bit.
