Matt Young Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Well, seeing as how I just picked up a couple games and plan on buying many more in the next week or 2, and since most of you will at least make a few purchases during this time of holiday spending, I figured we could share with each other our recent purchases. I know this thread's been done before, but it's long gone so I might as well start a new one. I had $15 credit at GameCrazy, and I went there intending to purchase Final Fantasy VII since it goes for $15 new now. My friends always say how amazing it is, so why not try it? I ended up changing my mind, though. GameCrazy has a sale on all used games (anything predating the current Xbox/GC/PS2/GBA era) where you buy 2 and get 1 free. They had so many excellent games that I wanted, but I chose to let those wait until after I get my Christmas money next week. I chose to buy Resident Evil for the GameCube with my credit since I only have 1 Cube game so far (2 if you count the Zelda disc) and I needed a good 1 player game. I own RE2, 3, and Code:Veronica, so I'm sure I'll love this much lauded remake of the original. It was a tough call between this and RE Zero, but I can still pick up the latter for $15 some other time. I also picked up NFL2K1 for Dreamcast for only $2.99. I owned the first game in the series, but most of my DC games were stolen a while back, and for 3 bucks you can't go wrong. I strongly urge you guys to go to your local Game Crazy if possible. The stores are located in every Hollywood Video, at least in my area, and the buy 1 get 1 free deal goes through the end of the year. After Christmas, I plan on blowing around $100 on what should add up to roughly 20-30 NES, SNES, Genesis, and Dreamcast games. That's a fucking awesome deal. Anyway, what have you guys bought lately?
Anya Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 I got King of Fighters 2000/2001 for PS2 the other day. I got and have since beaten Manhunt, Max Payne 2(Xbox) and Prince of Persia(Xbox) a few weeks ago. I think I may get Beyond Good and Evil next.
Guest Vitamin EC Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Bought XIII (Xbox) and Gregory Horror Show a week or so ago.
AndrewTS Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 "GameCrazy has a sale on all used games (anything predating the current Xbox/GC/PS2/GBA era) where you buy 2 and get 1 free. " They ripped that off Gamestop, who did it a few weeks ago. I recently got King of Fighters 2000/2001 for PS2, Beyond Oasis for Genesis, and Castlevania Chronicles for Playstation.
Matt Young Posted December 18, 2003 Author Report Posted December 18, 2003 I didn't know GameStop had that sale since I haven't been out to the mall lately, but at least where I'm from, Game Crazy's prices are generally much better than GameStop's anyway.

What is this Gamecrazy place? A friend of mine on the West Coast goes there all the time, but I've never heard of it here in PA. Is it basically a West-Coast-only Gamestop kinda place?
Anya Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Gamecrazy is some spin off of Hollywood video or Blockbuster or one of those other chains.

DerangedHermit Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I just got the Legend of Zelda Collection in the mail. It rules.
Karnage Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I got Dead to Rights and SSX Tricky both for XBOX in the mail. Dead to Rights is one hard game, I can't even make it past the 2nd chapter.

It's not only on the west coast, seeing as how I live in the midwest (Illinois). As Sakura said, it is a part of the Hollywood Video chain. They're usually in the back of the stores and are maybe 3/4 the size of the local GameStop store. They have pretty much anything you could want- New games, and a selection of used games for the newer systems as well as for the NES/SNES/Genesis/PSX/N64/Dreamcast that absolutely BLOWS AWAY GameStop's selection. They also have a decent amount of peripherals, even for Dreamcast (which pleasantly surprised me) along with the standard playable demo setups, some gaming magazines, etc. It's a great store, and it's the best place around here for finding 8 and 16-bit games. I believe there is a store locater on their website... Check it out at www.gamecrazy.com. EDIT: Ground Zero- Where did you find NCAA 2K3 for 10 bucks, and for what system? I really wanted to pick it up for GameCube, but they only had NFL and NBA2K3 at GameCrazy. Besides, both of those were $15 used, and I know EB (at least the website) sells them for $10-15 new.

Please check that you've entered a valid address or zip code." We have a HV and an EB, but no Gamestop. Although there are Gamestops and EBs all around my area. I'd think this would show any stores in the general area, though.
Red Baron Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Links 2004 Project Gothem Racing 2
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Last games I bought for myself were ESPN Basketball and XIII for PS2 and I bought for Christmas gifts Final Fantasy X, Max Payne and the new Spawn Game, all on PS2.
Guest Doomsault Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Manhunt for PS2 Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for GameCube
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 Matt Young- I picked up the Gamecube NCAA Football 2K3 for 10 bucks at Electronic Boutique at the mall. They had a lot of 10 buck games.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted December 19, 2003 Report Posted December 19, 2003 I haven't bought any games in a while, but I was looking around today at stuff that I'll end up buying after christmas with giftcards/money that I will no doubt get. One thing pissed me off which was the new Deus Ex game for the PC has some really high "Minimum" requirements (a 1.3 ghz computer for example). Needless to say I dont think my 800 mhz piece of crap Compaq fits the requirements so I wont be playing it.
Agent_Bond34 Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Most recent purchases: Earthworm Jim (SNES Saturday Night Slam Masters (SNES) NBA Jam (SNES) NBA Live 95 (SNES Splinter Cell (Xbox)
Guest Doomsault Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Attempted to buy Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for GameCube but it was fucked up. Damn used game stores.

USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Ohh I guess I should try to check it out.
The Czech Republic Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 Why buy SNES games when you can play ROMs?
razazteca Posted December 20, 2003 Report Posted December 20, 2003 The extras are some costume changes.
