WWE Considering Bringing Back Hall Of Fame

Recommended Posts

Could Bret Hart be the reason?

There has been some talk inside WWE of reviving the WWE Hall of Fame, possibly in conjunction with WrestleMania XX. WWE may use this as a way to get Bret Hart involved in WMXX, by inducting him into the Hall of Fame. Other major names who might be inducted include Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, and Billy Graham.

The date being talked about for a possible Hall of Fame ceremony is 03/13, the night before WMXX.

McMahon:"And now, we're here to offer a spot in the hall of fame to Bret "The Hitman" Hart"

*Hebner holds HOF award out*

*Hart walks up to accept*

"That's it, give him the fuckin award!"

*HBK jumps out of nowhere and Earl hands it to him instead*

*Hart watches in disbelief*

I've heard of everyone on that list except Baron Mikel Scicluna. Anyone have any idea who he is?

Baron Mikel Scicluna

Real name: Mike Scicluna

Billed from Malta, which may actually be legit. Made his Maple Leaf Gardens debut in 1957, wrestling as Mike Valentino. He used that name in Toronto through 1965. He then went to work for Vince McMahon in the northeast U.S. and became Baron Mikel Scicluna.

Twice wrestled Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF title at Madison Square Garden in 1966. Won the Washington, DC-based U.S. tag team title with Smasher Sloan in 1966, defeating Johnny Valentine and Tony Parisi (wrestling as Antonio Pugliese).

In 1968, Scicluna -- under that name -- wrestled Whipper Billy Watson in the main event at a Maple Leaf Gardens show. Later that year, Scicluna became a world champion in Australia, defeating Spiros Arion. He again challenged Sammartino for the WWWF title at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1969.

Scicluna won the WWF title with King Curtis Iaukea in 1972, defeating Karl Gotch and Rene Goulet. Wrestled Pedro Morales for the WWWF title in a 1972 Madison Square Garden main event. Made his final Maple Leaf Gardens appearance at the end of 1974 and continued to wrestle as a prelim guy until his retirement in the early 1980s.

Known for using a hidden roll of coins to knock out opponents. Stood about 6'3" and was billed at 265 pounds. Became a truck driver for a newspaper after his retirement. Came back to perform in the WWF old-timers battle royal in 1987.

"The giant Maltese was kicked in the throat by Emile Dupree several years ago, damaging his windpipe and reducing the power of his voice to a whisper. He's recently completed his 20th year as a world class wrestler and in another couple of months, he'll pass his 4,000th match. To show for all this, he has a lovely home in Toronto, a beautiful wife, and a son who will soon be 14. Although his tactics are dubious -- some say they're downright dirty -- Scicluna is respected for his ring savvy." (From WRESTLING SPORTS STARS OF 1973)

Prominent Titles:

WWWF U.S. tag champion, with Smasher Sloan, 1966

IWA World champion (Australia), 1968

IWA World tag champion (Australia), with Ciclon Negro, 1968

WWWF tag champion, with King Curtis Iaukea, 1972

I'm telling you, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in Calgary at the old Hart house. Just have it be run by an independent commission and just try to work something out with WWE.

I think the City of Calgary is buying it :(

Fucking pathetic...shut down loads of schools, not enough money for funding, hey wait a second, lets buy the Hart house for 2+ million! YAY!

the only way this could be of any relevance is if they actually BUILD a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, and have proper induction ceremonies, and give the guys the respect they've earned and deserve.

In other words, it isn't going to happen...at least not in a major way that we all would most likely want to see.

If this is true, it will work. Anyone who is familiar with the business knows that Bret is a big time mark who would fall for something stupid like this just to build up his ego more.

(Edit:) Not that I don't love Bret, he was my favorite in the early 90s through his WCW days, but what I say is true, every boy in the back knows it.

bah...I'd bet a buck that they go through with it only to induct Vince himself in the HOF in a sort of swerve.

They could hint for 2 months leading up to the event about who it is "Former Champion, etc." and I think everyone around here would bite for it and think it would be Bret (or Hogan, or Flair, or HBK..)

and building an actual building would rule, but I doubt that would happen.

It shouldn't be in Stamford, it should be in Calgary. Calgary is a historic wrestling city. Stamford is a suburb of New York and/or Hartford. The Hart House has loads of history and is up for sale, and if made into the PWHOF could bring in lots of tourism to the city of Calgary and bolster the local economy.
