RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 YOU SONNOFABITCH!!! I'LL KILL YOU!!!! Wait, didn't Eddie Bravo do PBP for that show?? ... I'll let you suffer! The DVD extras for the shows up until - i believe - Pride 19 are all the same (history of Pride, fighter Bios), so really, the only thing you are getting with the DVD version is quality of picture... yeah, that's the ticket... the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Either Pride 10 or maybe I'll throw in Royce/Sak. I don't even think they had the fighter bios. I think it is just History of Pride and the event highlights.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Slightly off topic but... What the hell was up with that rain thing that they did with Royal Rumble 03?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 It's been a while since I watched the piece-of-shit that is Pride 9. I like the history of Pride though; the guy talking sounds like he has a cold... Sak vs. Royce... YOU BASTARD!!!!! I'm supposed to be transferring and burning that to VCD right now... RRR: Had the option to pick from Pride 9, 10, 11, and the 2000 Grand Prix... STILL chose 9... the Newton match was under a minute and the Belfort match was sooooo boring... STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 I have no idea. They did the rain thing in PRIDE Final Conflict as well - but it was better done and was contrasted with fire. Best. Set. Ever.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Rudo, didn't you just start getting into MMA a few months ago? I remember you asking a bunch of questions about it, what matches to see, etc. Now it doesn't seem like it's taken long for you to pick that over everything. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 I first started watching when UFC 2 came out 10 years ago. Then the blackout happened. Come 2001 when Zuffa took charge and got UFC back on PPV and Pride as well, and I got back into it. This past year I got heavily into it, saw nearly every Pride, purchased a few shows on PPV . Those shows - the ones I chose in my first post (specifically Pride Final Conflict, UFC 44, Pride Total Elimination) - blew me the fuck away when I first saw them. Blew me away like _nothing_ in wrestling has - except for maybe a live ECW show (that also counts live Hogan vs. Rock WM 18). It got to the point to where I physically was jumping around the living room going NUTS. So yeah, I'll take the experience and excitement of watching a great MMA show over a wrestling show anyday. It's on a totally different level.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Here's my top 5: 1. XIX. I was at the show, so I have to put it up top. 2. Summerslam 3. Survivor Series 4. Royal Rumble (HHH vs Steiner drags it down from 3 to here) 5. Vengeance (The two McMahon matches drag it from 2 to here) Worst PPV was Unforgiven, which I actually think might be the worst WWE/F PPV in history. JR actually sounded every bit as bored as he did at Starrcade 89. Even the Jericho match was a stinker.
Guest Ray Report post Posted December 23, 2003 I had the misfortune of reading a review of Benoit/Guerrero by Frank Jewett which tore it apart and I couldn't help noticing the things he wrote Can I get a link to that?

Guest Besus Report post Posted December 23, 2003 7. Backlash. Things really begin to bottom out around here. 12. No Way Out. Just awful with three negative star matches to end the show. How the hell is NWO the worst PPV of the Year? Explain to me why you think so because Backlash is not better then NWO. Rock/Goldberg-Sucked Raw 6 Man-Sucked Kane/RVD-Dudleyz-Sucked Trish/Jazz-Sucked Rikishi/Sean-Sucked Rey/Show-Sucked Brock/Cena was decent and Same goes for TWGTT/Los Guerreros.(Wasn't that good,Their SD Matches are better) Y2J/Hardy-Good Kidman/Hardy-Good SD 6 Man-GREAT Taker/Show-Decent(I dont think it sucked) William/Storm-Kane/RVD-Decent IMO Only 3 Matches on the Card sucked and It was the last 3 , but Backlash had 6 Matches that sucked. Damn am I the only one here that thinks NWO was a great PPV? I think im the only one here that thinks that. Good opener,Great 6 Man,Taker had a decent Match with Show,Kane/RVD/William/Storm actually didn't suck.GREAT CROWD! I didn't see Bad Blood or Unforgiven so tell me how those 2 PPV's are better then NWO too.

Guest Douche Report post Posted December 23, 2003 I didn't see Bad Blood or Unforgiven so tell me how those 2 PPV's are better then NWO too. NWO suffered a lot from it's three last and biggest matches being crappy. The handicap was good for me and probably even better for the blind fans who spooge over Angle and Brock but I didn't like that Angle and one of WWE's best tag teams today got owned by Brock and Benoit when they had Angle too. Bad Blood was horrible except for its great main event. That was the only thing that saved the PPV. Add in that NASH of all people was in it and it raises a lot of people's opinions about it. Unforgiven was sorta blah/shitty. The whole card lacked heat. I think like all of 20 fans popped the entire event. Not even the women got heat and they always do. Dudleyz/La Res was very stale. Test/Steiner was good. The women's match was good if not completely dead as far as heat and Lita legit hurting her face because she can't bump. No one not even the regular fans liked Shane/Kane. Christian/RVD/Jericho was possibly the worst 3 way I've ever seen. Christian did the HHH sell and stayed on the ground for about 5 minutes intervals. RVD and Jericho seemed winded as fuck. At one point you'll notice RVD whip Jericho. Jericho reverses and RVD actually walks to the ropes, bounces, and walks back. The commentators match was obviously bad especially if it lasts 8 minutes. Goldberg/HHH went on way too long. HHH was injured in like 28 different parts of his body and Goldberg only looks good for at most 5 minutes. That's 10 mins. too long with a walking injury. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Judgement Day better then No Mercy? No Mercy had two very good matches in Angle v. Cena and Rey Rey v. Tajiri. Judgement Day had a better then expected main event- and that's it.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2003 Judgment Day also had the very good Team Angle vs. Eddy/Tajiri match. And No Mercy had Vince vs. Steph. Enough said.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted December 24, 2003 Best:Wrestlemania(Every match was good, but the good varies) Worst:Backlash(This looks worse since my friend's brother taped over the only good part of this show;the tag title matches)
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2003 The ladder match wasn't really that good- there weren't any good spots and the work was sloppy. Everyone but Eddy looked like they had no idea what to do. Everything else was awful on JD. No Mercy had Cena's best match against Angle, the usual goodness with Rey v. Tajiri and a better then I expected Benoit v. A-Train match.

Styles 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2003 Hey, here's an interesting question that I don't think has been discussed. The majority opinion for match of the year is Benoit vs. Angle from the Rumble. The majority opinion for worst match of the year is HHH vs. Steiner, also from the Rumble. Has their even been another year where the best and worst matches of the year were on the same show?
