I missed all football today. (Just woke up after ROH) Can anyone nicely fill me in on important happenings?

-Cowboys lost, putting the Seahawks into the playoffs

-Texans blew a 14 pt lead to the Colts giving the Colts the AFC South

-Cleveland knocked out the Bengals and put in Baltimore

-Priest Holmes set a new NFL single season touchdown record, two of them in fact

-Rams lost to the Lions giving the Eagles home field advantage

-Dolphins gave Dave Wennesedt a contract extension

And see above for the two important scores

*raises hand*

Me too actually...damn, are we sad or what?

The Vikings are once again driving me INSANE. They're well on their way to losing this game.

Well, they would have to bench the entire team to lose to this thing that is called "The Arizona Cardinals"

Man, this team is a nightmare in cleats and not in a good way.

If the Rams can almost lose to them in Arizona, than the Vikings certainly can.

Vikings miss a FG after stalling offensively on a long drive.

Eagles have home-field advantage based on better conference record than St. Louis.

The Colts win the AFC South based on head-to-head sweep of the Titans.

Seattle is No. 5 seed based on better strength of victory than Cowboys.

Right now, the Packers would be No. 4 seed over the Vikings based on better record in common games. However, if each team wins in Week 17, their record in common games will be tied and the Vikings will win the NFC North based on better record in conference games.

Wild-card matchups

AFC

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts

Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens

First-round byes: New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs.

NFC

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers

First-round byes: Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams

Just a bit of breaking news off of ESPN.com:

The Miami Dolphins football operation will undergo a shakeup for the 2004 season but ESPN.com has confirmed that the makeover will not include the departure of head coach Dave Wannstedt, who will be granted a reprieve by owner Wayne Huizenga.

Sources said Sunday afternoon that Wannstedt, who is 41-24 in four seasons pending the outcome of the season finale against the New York Jets, will be retained. The sources said that Wannstedt, who has one year remaining on his original five-year contract, will receive a one-season extension through 2005.

The tradeoff Wannstedt will make for keeping his job is the addition of a management official who will have general manager-type responsibilities, especially in the personnel department. During his tenure, Wannstedt has held sway over personnel decisions and the composition of his roster. Current senior vice president of football operations and player personnel Rick Spielman was essentially hired by Wannstedt and, despite his title, ranks below the head coach in the Miami football flow chart.

Wannstedt, 51, has acknowledged to friends and staffers that he is amenable to bringing in a general manager. The general manager would then, probably after the 2004 season, determine Wannstedt's fate. A one-year contract extension will preclude Wannstedt from entering 2004 as a lame-duck coach.

Possible candidates for the newly-created front office job include current Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Tom Modrak, former New Orleans general manager Randy Mueller and Tim Ruskell, who is currently the personnel director at Tampa Bay.

Huizenga is expected to make the announcement on Monday. He met for two hours Friday with club president Eddie Jones and the two men apparently finalized their plans then for restructuring the football operation.

Some sort of change in the football operation has been anticipated since the Dolphins began to slump a few weeks ago. Despite winning at Buffalo last weekend, Miami was eliminated from playoff contention, the second straight year in which the Dolphins failed to advance to the postseason.

While the Dolphins are viewed by many as underachievers, and some veterans seem to have tired of Wannstedt, it could have been difficult to dismiss the coach, given his record in his four-year tenure. This season marked the third time in four seasons that the club posted double-digit victories under Wannstedt's stewardship. Since 1970, only six coaches have been dimissed following seasons in which they won 10 or more games.

I'll laugh if the Ravens are winning later tonight and they have Jamal Lewis still in to grab the record...then Joey Porter or somebody nails him and Jamal blows out his knee.

I can't laugh if a player gets hurt, ever.

Even if he is killing my team, I can't bring myself to do that.

It just seems very dark.

And I think the Vikings may decide that "football is just tooo harddd" and go home instead of playing the second half.

I can laugh if its an ironic situation. I laugh at the irony, not the bones sticking through their flesh

Also the Seahawks and Vikings have got to love how the Broncos are basically handing the game over to the Packers by evaluating future players rather than trying to win.

Mike Tice loves to run and run he shall!

Course, the Vikings are best when they are just planning outdoor football style of tossing the ball sixty yards in the air and letting Moss jump and catch it.

As for Don...some of them, some are cool.

In a way I'd rather play the Packers than the Vikings.
