Guest The Hitman Returns Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Just wondering if it is legal to sell copys of old wwf and wcw shows off of TV? If is is illegal, what if I say they are buying the tape and not what is recorded on it. I have every wcw and wwe show on tape since late 1998 and was thinking of selling them on ebay. Thanks in advance for your help.
MillenniumMan831 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Technically, I don't think so . . . but I've seen people auction off a pen. If you win the pen, you also get 20 SNMEs for FREE!!! I don't know how that all turned out though. I highly doubt anything bad will happen to you either way.
Guest theoldxpac Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Nothing happens, hundreds of people sell masters and copyies of shows of ebay, and nothing happenes to them.
Guest TDinDC1112 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I do believe it is legal to sell TELEVISION shows.
JJMc Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I do believe it is legal to sell TELEVISION shows. No, it is not.
Bruiser Chong Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Anything that was dubbed or created by you cannot be sold legally on eBay or anywhere else, for that matter. A lot of sellers on eBay do this and are lucky because they get away with it, but others get caught, have their auctions closed, or eventually get suspended. I get tired of seeing all of these bootlegs clogging up eBay, anyway, do us a favor and don't do it.
Karnage Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Just say you are paying for the shipping, the blank tape and the effort you put into taping them. The show is free.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Just say you are paying for the shipping, the blank tape and the effort you put into taping them. The show is free. Thats pretty much $7 right there. Factor in time and labor put into it and te wearing out of the VCR, and thats the entire $15 per tape most sites sell for.
Bruiser Chong Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 You can't do that, either. Even if it's just a "free" blank tape that just happens to have wrestling on it, it's illegal. Same goes if you're offering a pencil and a wrestling tape just so happens to be included if you win. Trying and work around the system isn't worth the effort, unless you don't mind being kicked off of eBay.
Guest OldSkoolNWA Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Bruiser is right, I had an auction pulled a few hours before it closed. E-Bay threatened to pull my account if they caught me again. Apparently WWE has a search engine they use, once they find something they immediately notify E-Bay
snuffbox Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 whata bunch of fuckin nazis! its not like theyre losing any revenue....they dont sell old tv shows.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 whata bunch of fuckin nazis! its not like theyre losing any revenue....they dont sell old tv shows. WWE's response: But we can if we want to.
Guest theoldxpac Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 They're fucking cunts anyway, i mean its not like they're going to realese everything on dvd anyway.
syxx2001 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Some mixtape sites say "Buy the cover art for 6.99 and get the cd free" or "Buy our sticker for 7 dollars and get these tracks on a cd for free" cause mixtapes are illegal technically, but the DJ's don't get in trouble.
