I highly suggest you run out to the theaters on the 9th and see this movie, love this film, and dream this film. Little Larry couldn't hold back the tears, so be prepared. Fantastic experience. That is all.

Beast Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Yeah i drove about a hour to see it dragging some friends along, since it's hasnt widely opened yet. I can def say that it is my all time favorite movie. Ive always liked folklore and tall talkes and retro America and I can truly say this movie hit all the marks for me. Now, I'm not saying its the best movie ever, just my favorite. I consider the Godfather and Shawshank Redemption to be the best, while Big Fish joins Indy Jones and the Last Crusade, Animal House, American Pie, School Ties, and Orange County as my all time faves. I cannot recommend this movie enough and I am gonna see it again on Thurs.
DMann2003 Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 It was really quite beautiful, Tim Burton has lost none of his quirkiness, while really growing as a storyteller (which is what this film is all about, storytelling) His best since Ed Wood.

I loved every single aspect of the film from the very start to the ending credits. Not to mention that I cried, I admit it, I cried. It was just so powerful for me, and the message was just amazing. This is the kind of film that I would see again, and again, and again...and never tire of it. Way to go Tim Burton, you did a hell of a job with this one. Everyone deserves a big fat "A" for their roles in this from, it was just perfect to me. The film was so moving, in so many places...it was just a great work of filmmaking. It's not my favorite film of all time, but damnit, this one is up there near the top of MY list.

One is 20 and one is 18. I'm 19 for the record. Then the 18 year old brought dad's girlfriend's son who is 12. Well I automatically knew he wouldn't like it. Well he hated it. Thought it was boring. I thought it was just an age thing. But my other 2 friends thought it was boring as well. I however was in love with the movie and loving every second of what I saw. Bravo. *claps*

I take it the lot of you would disagree with Roger Ebert giving it the same rating he gave Torque, that being **1/2?
Downhome Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 I have never, in all of my years of watching film, felt an emotional bond between myself and a film. The subject matter between the father and the son, it just really felt really good, I loved it. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The ending sequence, where the son finally cemented his bond with his father, finally understood why he told so many stories over so many years and the way he did it, and how the son BECAME his father in a sense by finally telling a story, of how his father really passes away, just wow. That has got to be the saddest scene that I've ever seen in a film ever. It wasn't just a part of it, it was just great. It was a feeling of both saddness and just being very happy, I loved it.

And just a question someone here may have an answer to: Was Karl/The Giant ever on one of those Guiness World Records or Ripley's Believe it Or Not type shows? Oh, and Steve Buscemi is awesome.
