Guest JericholicEdgeHead Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 After poping my tape in to watch RAW tonight, I came to the conclusion that either Vince Russo was a ghost writer for RAW tonight or that Kevin Dunn/Grewitz (or whatever is name is) has run out of ideas. I mean come on.....May Young, racial storylines, Austin as a sheriff chasing guys around the ring with a 4 wheeler?!?!?! Tonight's RAW was like a re-run of all the bad "crash TV" stuff, it was 1998/1999 like bad. I know there are some fans that like this type of "entertainment" but I'm sick of it personally. Will Vince and his crew EVER change the format and give us a fresh WWE wrestling show or will they stick with the tired and lame format of Austin vs. authority figures, May Young jokes, & the same crap they have been doing since the late 90's. And they wonder why ratings and PPV buyrates are down....jeeze. Sorry for the rant.
2GOLD Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Dunn and Gewirtz HAD ideas??? Really? When did this happen?
Nighthawk Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Sheriff Austin was pretty dumb, but HHH made a fool of him about it, so it was good. Also when he crashed the 4 wheeler into the ring and got stuck for a few seconds, but that wasn't intentional.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 It's really sad. This show looked to be turning the corner not even a month ago and since Evolution won all the titles the show is hitting all time lows.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Paul Heyman probably wrote it.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Also when he crashed the 4 wheeler into the ring and got stuck for a few seconds, but that wasn't intentional. With the way Austin drinks I thought it was intentional. BTW, did anyone else love how they had a redneck chasing a black guy around in TN? I guess cause of the way they keep bringing race into the storylines.
Guest Ghettoman Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 It's been this way for god knows how long and yet your still questioning whether or not it will change!? Let me help you, no it won't. Now go order some comps or something....
Cran Da Maniac Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Just do what I've done the past 2 Monday Nights. Watch American Chopper. It's a lot more entertaining.
Guest Duncan Eternia Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 The 4 wheeler stuff had me laughing, I will admit. I thought they could have done a better job with Teddy Long last night. Overall I think the show was a "thumbs in the middle" edition this week.
Guest hhheld_down Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 RAW was pretty boring and unforgettable crap this week, Austin sucks as the sheriff or whatever, HHH was pretty funny makin fun of him though, nothing Austin did was that great, the only thing I liked about RAW was Coach falling out of his chair when Kane came out, that had me on the floor laughin
razazteca Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Dunn and Gewirtz HAD ideas??? Really? When did this happen? It was called Tough Enough, now it has become Raw but without the house or the vacation to exotic countries.
notJames Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Last night I kept hemming and hawing about opening up the new SD! game I got for Christmas. Should I play it, or watch RAW? Should I play it, or watch RAW? I chose poorly.
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm 31 and maybe I am just too old for the WWE product? I've been watching off and on since 1984 and I didn't think there had to be a age limit to be a fan, heck my dad watched wrestling with me back in the 80's when he was in his 30's. But I have just worn out of the same crap format that WWE has been running in the mud since 1998. When fighting for GM positions and announcers fighting is put over more than the titles and the matches there is something wrong. It's at the point now where I can't stand the Stone Cold Steve Austin character, he does the same things week in and week out and it's worse now because he doesn't even wrestle a match. I guess I wish for too much when I wish for the WWE to turn the page and finally get away from the "crash TV" style of format and get back to being a good "pro wrestling" show in the style of their glory days years and years ago. Oh well.
notJames Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I'm in the same boat. I turn 32 in two weeks, and I'm just about ready to give up wrestling again and wait for the next renaissance. Or not.
SuperJerk Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 At this point, 12 is becoming too old for the WWE. Damn, I hated that show last night.
Kizzo Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Gerwitz along with his writers wrote the show....Steph supervised the team and lead the direction....Vince McMahon the editor is the one who approved of what happen last night... After watching last nights show I realized how much I miss the year 2000...
CanadianChick Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 Sheriff Austin was pretty dumb, but HHH made a fool of him about it, so it was good. Also when he crashed the 4 wheeler into the ring and got stuck for a few seconds, but that wasn't intentional. When it stalled, it was near ring side, right? I thought he ran over RVD for a second there.
Guest PowerPB13 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 I'm in the same boat. I turn 32 in two weeks, and I'm just about ready to give up wrestling again and wait for the next renaissance. Or not. I'll help you out. There will be no "next renaissance". WWE will continue to descend until it inevitably, and mercifully, goes out of business. Greatest moment in the history of our sport, indeed. (Edit: Come to think of it, maybe the death of WWE would BE a renaissance...) -Patrick

Dude, we were saying this in 2001... 3 years later and nothing has changed. Take a wild guess at whether or not they will change the format.

I turn 32 in two weeks, and I'm just about ready to give up wrestling again and wait for the next renaissance. Or not. Hell I'll be 23 in a week, in their target audience, and I feel way to old to be watching this shit anymore.

You need a new promotion to become national and start driving Vince out of business. Vince thrives on being beat. His best periods were when the NWA was tops in the 80s and when the nWo was running wild in 96/97.
Guest PowerPB13 Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 You need a new promotion to become national and start driving Vince out of business. Screw a new promotion...at this point, I just want to see Vince out of business. Period. -Patrick
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 *looks at current state of WWE* TIME is driving him out of business, as in "it's only a matter of time that the WWE will go out of business", so he IS being 'beat', he's just too stupid to know it.

I think Vince will go down in history as the luckiest idiot in the history of wrestling promoters... -Patrick
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Nah, he'll just go down as the smartest idiot in the history of wrestling promoters. Kinda like the tallest dwarf... Listening to Ole Anderson on WOL, it's evident that the promoters weren't exactly the best business men; or the smartest of folk.
CanadianChick Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Nah, he'll just go down as the smartest idiot in the history of wrestling promoters. Kinda like the tallest dwarf... Or having the top mark in a Special Ed class.
RavishingRickRudo Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Yeah, like being Head of Creative in the WWE...
