Bad News for Eagle Fans

Brian Westbrook is gone for the season.

Looks like that will seriously hurt their chances as he was the biggest clutch player for the team this season. Buckhalter and Staley will be splitting time in the backfield the rest of the way.

I think the Packers might end up taking them as they've been on fire lately. It was a close call with Seattle but Philly won't have the ability to stretch the Packer defense with the receivers they have.

It all depends on the Eagles run defense now. Cause McNabb hasn't been great this season and without Westbrook that does hurt.

However, they still have a few more backs to play with and it's still in Philly. Not the Vet, but still Philly.

I think just for this playoff game, they need to fill the new stadium with giant rats from the Vet to scare the Packers.

Just a reminder, Westbrook was a non-factor in their Monday night matchup. As he was just coming off injury and only had about 5 carries. And Duce Staley came up like a man that game, I don't see why he couldn't do it again.

I don't see why people say the Packers are hot right now. Seattle took them to overtime in GB, and considering how bad the Seahawks were on the road that says a lot. Plus, if the Seahawks receivers could catch the fuckin ball it would've been a different outcome.

Before that Green Bay beat a Denver team that started a team that would lose Arena games and a bunch of nobodies. They haven't beaten a good team since before the last Eagles game.

I'm not even a little bit worried about the Packers right now. And I don't want to hear any of this team of destiny crap. It's football, not the battle of the Gods or anything.

I think the Eagles will win, but I'm still not sold on them. They played a bunch of weak teams during their "renaissance". They beat Carolina in Carolina (I'll give them credit there) and Miami in Miami (Dolphins couldn't tackle for crap in the 1st half, but hey, they beat "us"). Other than that, who'd they beat?

--Giants twice

--Redskins twice (1 in which Wash. rolled over & played dead)

--Vick-less Atlanta

--Dallas in Philly (bad road team)

--crappy Jets team

--mediocre Saints team

--Green Bay in bad weather, and Favre's thumb was banged up

I know, you gotta play who you gotta play, but I'm not sold on the Eagles. They're one of the best teams in the NFC, but that's not saying much.

So beating 3 playoff teams (2 on the road) a 10 win team, and another team an extra point from possible sneaking into the playoffs is nothing nowadays?

Gosh, if only they could have played juggernauts (probably spelled wrong) like the Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders. Ah well--maybe next year.

I think they should lay a 120yd green carpet on a vacant parking lot and play the game there. Philly can say, "We have HOME FIELD advantage, it doesn't mean we have to play at L.F. Field. We play here . . . the sewer is the 1st down."

This is the way I feel:

If the Eagles win, which is probably not going to happen, they will go to the Super Bowl and get beat by whomever they play. St.Louis has no chance to beat them in Philly, as the fact that they play outside ruins their speed.

If the Pack win, they will get torched by St. Louis in the Dome, as the ability they have is ridiculous. We all saw how much the Seahawks Recievers beat the Green Bay secondary. They just happened to drop the ball half the time. Their only chance is for Bulger to fuck up and throw a few more interceptions like he did all season, but of course they still have all those other weapons. In addition to that, we all know who threw the interceptions the last time Green Bay played the Rams in the playoffs. Than again, Mike Martz is a dumbass sometimes and if they don't play Marshall that much, the Pack has a chance as well. As big a fan of the Pack as I may be, I just don't see them going to the Super Bowl. The only team that has potential to win in the NFC is St. Louis is my opinion, but maybe I'm just too freaked out by a team that's going through a slump right now. You can't underestimate their offense though.

Man, I hate indoor stadiums/domes, and who are the *reads sign* Car-ol-in-a Pan-thers????

Yeah, those Packers are just horrible

Eagles and Packers in last 9 games

Eagles: 8-1

Packers: 7-2

Yeah, those Packers are just pretending to be a good team.

I doubt the Packers have a chance, but they are on a run very much like the Eagles and could win the game.

This is going to be a close game.

The two biggest arguements I see against the Eagles are silly though. The Westbrook point I already made. He wasn't a factor when they beat GB earlier. Does it hurt not having him? Of course, he was their offensive MVP (I don't care what the players say). Can they beat the Packers without him? Apparently yes.

As for the run defense arguement, Ahman Green ran for 192 yards in the firsst meeting and they still won. They have been winning for the last three months, while teams have ran all over them.

And as for their schedules in the last 9 games

Green Bay

Biggest wins:

Minnesota, Tampa, SF, Seattle

Losses:

Philly, Detroit

Philadelphia

Biggest wins:

Dallas, Carolina, Miami, NO, GB

Loss:

SF

I don't see how you can't give the Eagles decisive edge there.

This just screams of the idea that wild card teams get to make their statement, while byes get to sit at home. Everyone and their mother sees the 1st round games and gets a good idea in their heads about the winners.

The Packers are going to march up and down the field in between the 20s. A couple of those times they will capitalize and a couple they will get FGs. The defense will do enough to keep them in the game and the Eagles offense is much better than given credit for. Freddie Mitchell, Chad Lewis, and LJ Smith should be able to eat them up in the middle of the field (if Seattle WRs would have caught the ball in that area it would have been a romp).

No one's really giving the Panthers as much credit as they deserve. They could have easily collapsed after their undefeated streak ended, and almost did, but they rallied back to win their last three(?) games and a playoff game in convincing fashion. There's a reason they're in the playoffs, people.

My whole problem is people who treat Green Bay like they are a joke team. I don't think they will win, but I'm not one of those people screaming "It's gonna be a blowout!"

It SHOULD be a very old school hard hitting game that I think GB will fall short in the end. But if they win and Carolina pulls out an upset in St. Louis....oh man.

I just don't like the Panthers matchup. Their strength is the D-Line and the running game. Their DBs are suspect and they aren't a speedy team. That is a dangerous combination going into St. Louis.

I do see it, though, if the Carolina front four comes up huge and get to Bulger, he will crumble. They need big games from Steve Smith and the front four. If that happens they have a shot. But they just got a bad draw.

If Stephen Davis STAYS healthy and holds onto the ball, they can win. His body really seemed very easy to hurt this year but when he is 100%, he has been untouchable.

If Martz refuses to hand the ball to Faulk, the Rams are done. It's why my favorite team beat them in the Super Bowl. Faulk IS the Rams whether Martz wants to believe that or not.

History is on the side of the home teams. Knowing the Rams are undefeated at home, and the Eagles have played well in the 2nd round. I don't seeing either road team winning.

Records mean crap.

-If records were true, St Louis would have probably beat up New England in Super Bowl 36.

-If records were true, Green Bay would have killed Atlanta

I'm sure I could go on but I feel those 2 were the most dominant records that were proven wrong

The Eagles are my favorite team...but I do love those Packers............argh! Can I just pick who's winning half way through?

The way I'm looking at the Super Bowl this year is:

I don't care who from the NFC goes as long as it's not The Rams.

I don't care who from the AFC goes as long as it's not The Patriots.

I'm sold on The Rams not going......but those damn Pats will probably win it.

Yeah but the heavily favored Eagles got punked by the Buccs at home last season.
