The Real World: San Diego

Really? Who was toking on the set?

Cara from Chicago said the producers caught her toking by her bedroom window and was told never to do it again or she would be kicked off.

Colin said on the battle of the sexes that pretty much half of both teams would sit around and get high, and they had to hide in the bushes to do it.

Where did you hear this?

Colin said it on his website months ago.

As for Cara she was in FHM magazine with some other real world chicks and she was asked casually if any roomates tried to sneak in pot, and she responded by saying, "ye I am a total druggie etc........" and went on to tell the scenario that I just told you.

So the things I said came straight from their mouths.

The whole thing just seems so watered down and bland. I mean there is always about 4-5 white people, 1 gay man/woman, and a randon minority (whether it be Asian, African American, or Hispanic).

Hey Real World, you want to impress me? Cast an All-African American cast for you're next Real World. That right there would catch my interest.

And on a sidenote, has there ever been a Native American on any reality show? I mean that would be something to mix it up because it would be a perspective that is not often looked at.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again.

Real World is a pretty crappy show because it is nothing like the Real World. Why do I watch it then?

It doesn't make me think what so ever. It is funny to watch all of these clowns make asses of themselves, and I just laugh at them.

I watch 24 to think and Real World not to think, simple as that.

Refresh my memory, which one is Colin?

There have been Hispanics? I remember Cuban Melissa from the Miami season, but that's about it ain't it?

And I'm also shocked there hasn't been a gay roomie cast in the past two seasons.

Yeah, your right, there is a lack of Hispanics when it comes to reality television in general.

Does it count when chicks make out?

No. But it's not looked down upon.

That's the 1st time I've heard of that phobia, and now I've heard of a 2nd case (Kotz). Huh.

1st episode - the roomies were in downtown San Diego club hopping (or whatever). A random black dude and Robin got into a mini disagreement about something. He called her a bitch, and she called him a derogatory term (the big "n"). Jaq took exception to it, and he & Robin had an argument. She kept saying "you don't know me" and waving her hand in his face, and eventually Jaq got a cab back to the house. Robin was upset, and all the roomies got together to talk it out, and Robin revealed she was raped. Eventually, Jaq & Robin smoother things over.

Seriously, big boats? Any particular reason?

I liked the way Jaq handled that situation.

Him and the Asian chic (what is her name??) seem like cool people so far.

That "Boom, bazooka joe" thing had me laughing.

Not big boats alone, just large buildings, massive rooms, etc. They're very imposing and I just get extremely nervous and panicky around them. I just related a story to Nevermortal on AIM about how I couldn't look at the Washington Monument close up because I'd start getting tight in my chest and breathing erratically and get a feeling like it was about to fall on me. I get the same weird feeling in really big rooms or domed stadiums.

After being in college, I would say that if you give 7 college aged kids a big ass house, tons of booze, and a retarded job that doesnt suck at all considering you are on national tv, i could say that there will be a shitload of drinking, fucking, more drinking, and more fucking. I say that they should just do Real World: College. Me and my friend have the concept down. It would be at Michigan and Central Michigan. Well the whole show would be like looking at two best friends who go to different schools, and how they deal with similar situations, and what really happens when they visit each other and shit. It would do well in the rating guaranteed.

Out of all of the reality shows that have been made, I am sure that ideas was thought of.

Hell, it could have been made but just got lost in the shuffle.

Which one's Robin? The one with huge knockers? She was raped when she was younger or something? By a black man?

I'm confused......

It's two completely separate things Mole. Robin was raped in the past, and she said it was by a black man. She said that's why it's alright for her to use the N word, and I personally think she's still a moron.

The rape that occurred at the house was by a noncast member to another noncastmember, done in the bathroom, where there are no cameras. I wonder if they will even mention it.

Oh okay, I wasn't sure if the rape was with cast members.

I really really hope MTV doesn't mention it, because that is something that should be kept private.

Actually The Real World was excellent in seasons 1-3.  They did the show the right way.  They still had some misleading editing, but the people themselves were much less bland then they are now.  Real World in the last few seasons mine as well be renamed the Real Orgy, because they just put 7 attractive folks in a house with alcohol, I mean shit, what do they expect to happen.  Also I find it funny that they basically endorse if not encourage UNDERAGE drinking as being part of the "real world" yet instances when someone has smoke some pot they threatened to kick them off the show and out of the house, plus they edit it out of the show.

ACTUALLY I would put Real Worlds 1-6 as the definative RW. RW 1-4 were truly documentary style reality TV with hands-off style presentation with RW New Orleans being given honorable mention in terms of relevance....

RW 5 was the embodiment of a reality series five car train wreck and showed just how utterly bad things can get in reguards to people's sloth and self-absorbsion.

RW 6 was the last RW to have the casting people ACTUALLY get real real people of different backgrounds and social groups onto one show and having them actually do a real job instead of some sort of glamorous job MTV bought and paid for, for them.

Honorable mention can go for Real World New Orleans for it's Mormon chick storyline and the whole faceless marine running storyline, which gave the series some sense of cultural depth to it.

IIRC they did that already with Road Rules. They filmed an entire season of RR on one of those "Semester At Sea" ships using students from the program and it was a huge bomb....

Some people see no problem in underage drinking, but frown upon marijuana use big time.

For my first movie, I made a movie called "Drink, Drank, Drunk" which was basically how students drink a lot. The film wasn't that good, but I was more concerned with the editing process and it was basically a learning tool.

Anyway at the end of the film, I ended it with my friend Kobi rolling a joint. I did this to show that there is plenty of other stuff they do other than drink.

My Prof had zero problem with the underage drinking, but was against the marijuana reference because he saw it being much worse.

My guess is that MTV will get more shit for people smoking a joint then a 19 year old drinking beers.

Which still makes no sense to me b/c drinking is like 10x more dangerous than getting high.
