Guest El Satanico Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Big Fish is #1? I'm happy to see that. My Baby's Daddy didn't do that bad. Middle of the pack isn't too bad, unless it drops alot next week.
Tawren Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 "Teacher's Pet" I cannot wait...I'm a mark for this show. And I'm glad that Chasing Liberty shit failed and Big Fish got #1. Hopefully word of mouth and strong advertising will keep Big Fish going for a while.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Deservingly so. Yay @ Big Fish.
Youth N Asia Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 My Baby's Daddy looked like ass...I hope it's completly out of the top 10 next week. And Torque looks awful. They already bombed Biker Boyz, and this looks even worse. And I've always thought Ice Cube was so-so in acting...but him trying to sound so hard in the previews just sounds funny.
Youth N Asia Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 11 and 12 11 Peter Pan $4,076,000/$39,904,000 12 Calendar Girls $3,600,000/$12,300,000 NOTE: Peter Pan cost $100+ million to make, so you can call this a huge bomb. Big Fish was on only 2406 screens. ROTK was on 3532. My Baby's Daddy wasn't on very many (1447), which was 1000 less then Cold Moutain, which only beat it by $80,000.
Downhome Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Woohoo, a deserving film (and a much better film in my view) dethrones ROtK. I'm so happy about this, great news to me.
2GOLD Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 It hasn't dethroned it yet, seems the studio may have inflated their numbers. ROTK could still end up #1 when the final numbers come in on Monday.
Mole Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Did anyone actually see Big Fish? Some of the reviews I read made it out to be a regular ol' Burton film.
Downhome Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 It hasn't dethroned it yet, seems the studio may have inflated their numbers. ROTK could still end up #1 when the final numbers come in on Monday. According to these numbers it has, and it's all we have to go by right now. We'll see on Monday though, but either way, I'm glad that Big Fish made as much as it did. And MoleSlayer, I saw Big Fish and I loved it...one of my favorite films of all time. For the first time in my life, the people I was in the theater with (which was PACKED), actually clapped and cheered at certain things. It was just awesome, one of my favorite filmgoing experiances ever.
2GOLD Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I hope it does stand Cause god knows I don't want TORQUE to be the movie that does it. Man, that movie....could that be any stupider to look at?
Downhome Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I hope it does stand Cause god knows I don't want TORQUE to be the movie that does it. Man, that movie....could that be any stupider to look at? Hey, don't bitch about Torque! Well, that is unless you do it MORE intense, ugh. I hate movies like that, HATE em.
razazteca Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Ice Cube is a bigger draw than Anthony Anderson so I do believe Torque will do about 9 Million.
EdwardKnoxII Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 My problem with Torque is that, from the previews, the bike stunts are CGI and BADLY at that.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Some of the reviews I read made it out to be a regular ol' Burton film. You say that like it would be a bad thing.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Peter Pan may be a "bomb" in the makers eyes, but it's a fantastic movie and they should be proud.
Ravenbomb Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I mark for Billy Crudup, so I'm glad it's doing well.
Mole Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 And MoleSlayer, I saw Big Fish and I loved it...one of my favorite films of all time. For the first time in my life, the people I was in the theater with (which was PACKED), actually clapped and cheered at certain things. It was just awesome, one of my favorite filmgoing experiances ever. That happened during RoTK. I hate it when people clap at the end of the movie, it feels wrong.
C Dubya 04 Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Did anyone actually see Big Fish? Some of the reviews I read made it out to be a regular ol' Burton film. I saw Big Fish Friday night and thought it was wonderful. It was a great story and told the right way. As a side, I don't like when people clap at the end of movies either. There was scattered applause at the end of Big Fish and it just feels weird to me.
fazzle Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Well, the actuals are out now, and ROTK ended up at #1. $14.2 to $13.8 for Big Fish.
Mole Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Big Fish got a great review from Premiere, so far only Ebert didn't like it.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Did anyone actually see Big Fish? Uh, yes. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...ST&f=12&t=47941
Mik Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Don't mind him, he's not the brightest bulb in the pack.
LaParkaYourCar Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Well, the actuals are out now, and ROTK ended up at #1. $14.2 to $13.8 for Big Fish Could we edit in the real numbers then?? Or start a "Real Box Office Thread" so there is no confusion?
Lord of The Curry Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 *Points and mocks DH and his Big Fish followers* YOU CANNOT KILL THE KING~! Seriously though, after Mystic River, Big Fish is #2 on my list to see. I'm really hyped on seeing it, as every review both fan and critic I've read has been great.
