pappajacks 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Is it possible (just for one night) to have RAW and Smackdown go head to head on a Monday Night? Both shows are on different stations, the question is if the WWE can convince UPN to have the Smackdown show on Monday for a one night shot. I think it would be an idea worth exploring, and who knows, could help the WWE is the long run by further distinguishing both brands and creating real competition between the bookers. The WWE was making the most $ when it had a real threat. Create that threat again and you never know. I sincerely believe if the product is good, there is enough wrestling fans out there to support it. Think long-term more than short-term. 2 brands (feds) going against each other means 24 PPVs every year. Like I said, try it once and see what happens. When WWE purchased WCW, they thought that they could get a 10.0 rating, thinking that they could pull in the WCW audience. Instead, they wound up pulling 3's, because WCW's audience consisted of many people who flipped between the two shows, therefore counting as both their audiences. In 2001 there was probably 7 or 8.0 (combination of WCW and ECW fans) - but they weren't going to get that anyways, so "potential" may be the wrong word. Si82 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I don't think it's too bad of an idea. I mean, it could be well hyped, create a buzz amongst fans, it might just get a fair few people watching the show. It might even cause the creative teams, and wrestlers, to work harder and put all their effort into creating the best show possible. WWE needs Competition in my opinion. It's made them work harder to put on a great show, not always successful I'll admit. If Smackdown lost viewers to Raw (or vice versa), the ratings drop, and the network is forced charge less to advertisers when that's on the air. That makes the show less attractive, so the network is less likely to renew it. WWE has no choice but to get people to watch as much WWE programming as possible, whenever it's on. If the WWE hasn't been competing with anyone, where did the 3.0 of fans that were watching in it's peak go? They didn't just all die, they didn't turn off their tv's for good, they watched something else.
