Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted January 13, 2004 Some of my faves: "Ronin" - In the final car chase, the sense of speed is just incredible. The very narrow streets and tunnels add to it as well. DeNiro sat in the car for a few shots as it went that fast and I don't think that's acting; that's terror. "To Live or Die in LA" -Driving on the wrong side of a freeway? That's just about the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. "The Living Daylights" - C'mon! Bond fends off the ENTIRE Czech Army with only his modified Aston Martin and a Cello case. "The Road Warrior" - The tractor trailer battle is just flawless. "License to Kill" - The 15 Minute climax of this film is one huge car chase with multiple tanker trucks, crop duster planes, stinger missiles, machetes, and great stunt driving. "French Connection" - No explination needed. "Gone in 60 Seconds (1970's)" - The final chase with Eleanor is amazing in every way shape and form. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" - Indy. Horses. Trucks. Nazis. Belloq. Yeah.

Ah yes the legendary chase scene that went on for nearly 30 minutes. It was an exhausting chase to watch and has to be #1 in terms of cars destroyed. You have to include Bullit in such a discussion. He also had a good chase in The Seven-Ups That's the movie I was thinking of. I remember a few years ago I was watching a behind the scenes thing about The Seven Ups and they were talking about the car chase. The plan was for Schneider's character to stop just inches from the end of the truck and they had it planned out. Well for some reason they had to move the truck but, they forgot to move it back. So when they did the chase the car ended up crashing into the truck and the stuntman BARELY ducked in time to save his neck. They decided to leave the crash in the movie. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 The Dead Pool. Eastwood has a car chase with a remote control car wired to explode. Very inventive.
Karnage 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Santa with Muscles had Hogan pooring salad dressing and powder on the road. But seriously, I thought the car chase in the Bourne Identity was pretty good.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Without Question the best CAR CHASE scene is from the movie BULLIT. NO MUSIC, No cheesy sounds, just the sounds of car engines and screeching tires/brakes. If you haven't seen this movie, which is really good, go rent it. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 14, 2004 A car chase from the last 10 years or so can't compare to ones from before that time. Car chases with CGI usage just aren't the same as car chases with blue screen use at most.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Car chases with real cars and driving enviroments has that feeling of danger, that car chases with heavy use of CGI just doesn't have. Long chases with alot of CGI tend to get tedious and aren't as fun to watch as a long old school car chase. There's some modern movies that use old school car chases, but there's far too many that don't.

Aside from that, CGI is used minimally. I must be missing some.
