Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I didn't see a thread based on the idea, so here you go. I don't buy the excuse that it's all about revenge. I mean, it's Bob f'n holly, it isn't like he in any way deserves a title shot like this, totally out of nowhere. To me, it's pretty obvious that the entire point of his doing what he's doing on TV right now is just so that he can bring back the Hardcore Title to WWE TV. He's being presented as this mad man who can't go through an entire night without busing out a chair or some other such object, going against all rules, and doing whatever he wants to do in both matches, and whenever else. The Holly/Lesnar match will also more than likely be a no D/Q match, most main events seem to have that stipulation added the night of the PPV anyway. Heck, it might have already been announced but I just haven't noticed yet. Anyway, I see Hardcore Holly "winning" the title at the Royal Rumble, to everyone's shock. It wont stand obviously, have it be because they were pinning each other, Paul Heyman comes out to say that the match must continue for some reason, etc... Or heck, maybe it WONT be a no D/Q match and Holly will just get D/Qed allowing Brock to retain. Then the SD after the RR, Holly comes out with some sort of bag or something, and cuts a promo in the ring. He keeps on bragging that he is the true champion, he beat Lesnar and that's that. Blah blah blah, he goes on to say that he's too hardcore for the WWE Championship, and proclaims himself the NEW WWE Hardcore Champion, and pulls out a new title. I dunno, either have it stand or have it be something like the Million Dollar Belt back in the day, you get the idea. From day one I've thought about this, and it would at LEAST make this a little interesting, if nothing more. Have any of you posted this yet, have you even thought about it? Sincerely, ...Downhome... Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 It seems like a good idea. I just don't like the fact that SD! would then have four titles, and it would be competing for time with the US and Cruiser belts.

That title hasn't been defended but what, once or twice in 3-4 months? Heck, has it even been on the line yet? Besides, the hardcore matches wouldn't have to be long, they neve were usually. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Well, by that scenario, you've either: 1) made Brock look like a chump by "losing" to Holly, or 2) extended the Brock/Holly feud Neither of which are good ideas.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 14, 2004 I think it sounds like a good idea, but I think it's highly unlikely for them to bring another title on SD.
dubq 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 It's not going to happen because way more thought has gone into this idea than WWE is willing to put into anything.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Big Show has not once defended the title since gaining it from Eddie, and that was at what...PPV before Survivor Series?
jester 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 It's an interesting theory Downhome, but I tend to agree with Vivisecti--it would be unusually imaginative of WWE to go about resurrecting a belt this way, especially one as low on the totem pole as the hardcore belt. Remember the detailed storyline that brought back previous belts? 1. "Here HHH, have a belt." 2. "Uh, I know we just merged the Intercontinental belt with HHH's Cliqueweight Belt, but we just figured out the midcarders have fuck all to do, so here's another Intercontinental belt." 3. "The midcarders on Smackdown who aren't cruisers don't have anything to do either, so let's give them the U.S. belt, and Big Show can take it home and we'll forget about it." Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 14, 2004 WWE doesn't need any more belts.

Slickster 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 I think it could work as sort of a 'Million Dollar Title' sort of belt (i.e. not a regularly defended belt, used to add to a character). Besides, who better for the Hardcore title than Hardcore Holly? Downhome's 'DQ loss' scenario would be a GREAT idea to bring about this storyline.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 WWE doesn't need any more belts. Technically, even during the WWE boom of the late 80's, there were quite a few titles on the line: WWE IC Tag Women's Women's Tag Team King of the WWE Million Dollar Title
notJames 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Any result that isn't "Brock destroys Holly, pins Holly decisively, and retains the WWE Title" doesn't deserve to see the light of day.

That's exactly what I'd go more towards, it doesn't have to be an "official" title, at least not to start with. It'd just be a fairly interesting angle for Holly, post-Lesnar.
