The Rundown finished the year with $47.6 million in domestic gross and $4 million in foreign gross. The estimated movie costs including production and marketing sits at $110 million, which puts the movie deep in the red. Of course, strong DVD sales can turn things around.

The average at best success of The Rundown is causing people in Hollywood to second guess The Rock as a bonafide box office draw and leading man. Many are also questioning his selection of roles. If Walking Tall does not do very well, most in Hollywood feel that the Rock will be back to square one.

Ironically, the Hollywood types now think the Rock needs to remain closely associated to wrestling so that WWE fans can buy tickets to his movies. A few months ago, everyone was telling him to get away from wrestling because it was beneath him.

I never hear or read anything on this stuff about the Rock and I follow entertainment news quite a bit. Now Dave has inside sources in Hollywood?

Everyone seems hellbent on seeing Rocky fail. Give the guy a great script and he'll knock it out of the park. Everyone has "average" movies...I wouldn't be worried about this Rundown nonsense.

Sad thing is, Rundown is his best movie by far.

Rock is fine. Arnold has already arranged it so Rock takes over his roles in Terminator and Conan when the movies get made. And "SpyHunter" will be a box office smash.

The Rundown was critically acclaimed but it was released at the wrong time and it makes no sense that they pushed the film back so much. It was a good strong performance by the Rock and the only downside was Sean William Scott continuing to be unfunny.

If anyone else headlines "The Rundown" it makes a total of 20 million at the box office.

Walking Town actually looks good in the ad, but it might be a stretch for Poor Rocky to do that Drama stuff.

he should keep close to Wrestling Its always good to have a established auto fanbase as long he doesn't do any Mr.Nanny bullshit

Exactly. The Rundown might have beena set back but it simply doesn't erase all the inroads The Rock has made in Hollywood. The powers out there can tell the guy has some serious personality and will keep giving him roles for many years. Any talk of 'OMG He'll never get a role again!' is a bunch of knee jerk wrestling fan bull. If Steven Seagal can find work for years and years and years, The Rock is not going to have any problems.

Off topic.. Buffy just reminded me of something.

I saw the preview yesterday for Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller's new movie "Along Came Polly." Ben Stiller is playing basketball with that larger hairy man and he goes up for a lay up and Ben's face runs up his stomach and chest is disgusting and it made me feel bad for all those guys who have to wrestle A-Train.

He reminded me more of George "The Animal" Steele than A-Train.

Must I always remind you that Rocky 3 was a box-office Smash!? :) It got nominated for an oscar for a song that became Hogan's theme music. But seriously, I think every wrestler has one box office hit.

Hogan- Rocky 3

Rock- Mummy returns

Ventura- Predator

( Of couse Rock and Hogan were in these movies for a total of 5 minutes, but that's not the point)

No, I'm not.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

If you see "The Rundown", Arnold gives his first confirmation by having a cameo where he walks by the Rock in a suit and tells him "Good Luck". The whole point of that was Arnie passing off to the Rock

If you didn't, Arnold has already said he thinks the Rock is the next great action star and the roles will move forward with Rock with Arnie having a small cameo until he has more free time for bigger roles.

The man can't act IMO, wrestling comes natural to him...he should just do that. The world isn't the same without him flopping about over-selling everything.

Scorpion King was Scorpion Krap and the Rundown looks like shit.

Well, he's doing two ensamble movies after Walking Tall (Instant Karma with Pierce Brosnan and Be Cool with Travolta, Russo, Thurman, Hackman et al) so he should be okay for now but I don't feel bad in the least for hoping that his film career flops and he comes back to wrestling.

I think Walking Tall might be the best move he's made yet. Gives him a chance to stretch out a bit as an actor, which is a good thing.

HOLY CRAP, Regis as the villain is soooo awesome it's awesoem.

Then you could have, like, J-lo in the female lead... or something.

But who would play "Dynamo". Not too many Opera singers these days...

You could always use Meatloaf.
