1) Was Luger's face turn ever really _explained_, or did they just do a sudden transformation to American hero once he slammed Yoko?

2) Was the original KOTR 93 plan to have Bret vs. Luger for the title before Hogan demanded the title at WM? If that had happened, who do you think would have won the first KOTR?

3) What's the whole story behind Hogan demanding the title at WM? What about the "Savage punching Hogan out" story?

4) When did Giant Gonzalez leave the WWF? Did they just finally realize he was worthless?

5) Was it Savage's decision to go from the ring to announcer in 1993, or did Vince force him into it? It seems like he could have been a big draw to get over heels like Razor, Yoko, or Luger.

6) Was the Luger/Yoko Summerslam 93 match's result changed at the last second, or was it always booked as a countout?

7) When did the Quebecers enter the WWF?

Thanks guys! I'm sure I'll think of more later.

Cheers!

1.)It was just a sudden transformation as he started driving the Lex Express

Cant answer 2.

3.)He said that he wanted to pass the torch to Bret and he got his title shot, got all pissy and changed his mind.

4.)I'm pretty sure that he left about a few weeks after SSlam and the last time I remember seeing him was in the IC Title Battle Royal thingy.

5.)Don't know, good question.

6.)It was changed for some odd reason, but I think it was changed to a countout because there were no other heels for Lex against.

7.)Jacques was there for a really long time as the Mountie or tagging with his brother Raymond, and I'm not sure but I think Pierre came around in about June.

1.) It just came out of nowhere.

2.) No. From what I know, the original plan was Bret winning the title at SSlam from Hogan ina passing of the torch moment. Didnt happen obviously.

3.) Don't know if it was true. Hogan/Savage also don't know if true. Both are "can be both ways" arguments.

4.) His last show was October 4th, 1993 RAW.

5.) Vince wanted Savage to be phased out because of his age, and wanted the newer guys to be focused.

6.) Booked that way because they wanted a long term feud.

7.) The Quebecers debuted on WWF TV in late June/Early July.

Its been proven that it happened via a ski boat accident or whatever... Savage's role is a urban legend

Savage did face Yoko in a televised match, I forget when, but Yoko won with a belly to belly suplex.

March to WMX, I think.

Probably a typo, but March to WM IX was the Yoko pinning Savage match.

They DID fight on a MNR the week before WM X (not the special edition though) though where Savage won by DQ. Damn Crush broke the pin. Savage/Bret and Savage/Luger would have been WORLDS better I think.

They weren't going to jeopardize the Savage-Crush match they'd been building for five months though. Not unless Savage wrestled three times that night, which wasn't going to happen.

I was a 10 year old mark, I think I was allowed to think stupid crap.

Dude, chill. I was 15 at the time, and I was pissed too. I was actually one of the four people that didn't want Luger in the 1994 Rumble (he was the one that was too stupid to break the countout at SummerSlam 93, after all).

As far as Gonzalez goes, after jobbing to Undertaker at Summerslam 1993, he did a few more jobs on some syndicated shows to Randy Savage among other. His last appearance was the Intercontinental Battle Royal in October 1993 where he was the first one eliminated. After that he went and worked in New Japan for a while and teamed with Jushin Liger. He lives back in Argentina now and last I heard he was involved with Basketball over there, but he could very well be dead and no one would know / care.

What did Liger do to piss everyone off for that kind of punishment?!

When did the Quebecers enter the WWF?

July 1993.

They were supposed to be called "The Mounties" (even had the ring-attire made) but Canada's ban on public bashing of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police changed those plans.

The writers decided to make fun of the situation by calling them "The Quebecers" and having them use the theme "We're Not The Mounties" to clear up *any* possible confusion.

I will always hate Crush for doing what he did on that night. I thought Savage was awesome when I was 9 because he wore a colorful cowboy hat and had a ton of neat catchphrases. I thought Bret and Lex were teh H0M0zzz.

Shifting gears a bit, I dug up this excerpt from a newsgroup:

- WWF has WrestleMania on 04/04/93 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

The tentative line-up looks like this:

- Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna for the WWF Title

- Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake vs. Money, Inc. for the WWF Tag Titles

- Steiners vs. Headshrinkers

- Tatanka vs. Shawn Michaels for the IC Title

- Giant Gonzales vs. Undertaker

- Curt Hennig vs. Lex Luger

- Crush vs. Doink the Clown

*- Bob Backlund vs. Razor Ramon

*- Jerry Lawler vs. Genichiro Tenryu

Two new match announced this past weekend on TV, although there is talk

the final match won't take place.

Now I'm very familiar w/ this time period and I don't EVER recall the Lawler/Tenryu match being announced. Anyone?

I watched almost every sindicated show leading up to WM IX and don't remember that match. How odd.

BTW< where did you find that lineup, cause I remember reading a site with it on.

I'm betting that came from RSPW.

Tenryu did work a few matches at the January TV tapings immediately following the Royal Rumble but that was it. I guess maybe there were plans that fell through.

And Lawler was a nobody in the WWF at that point in time. Not being familiar with USWA back then, I saw him as simply a color guy until the feud with Bret - even then, I thought Bret would destroy him within 5 minutes.

The list must've come out before they announced Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Kamala, because I remember them hyping that match on the March to WM IX special, but ended up not happening. (I forgot the reason, maybe running out of time)

Bah. I was a 5 year old mark that was pissed that Lex Luger didn't win the title from Yoko at SummerSlam. I was so happy when Luger was in the Rumble.

To the people wanting to know about the reason for the Luger/Yoko Summerslam 93 match result...

IIRC, I remember reading under the "Lex Express" entry on Wrestlecrap that the reason for that result is because McMahon thought that Lex would get a better reaction for the win if it happened at WrestleMania than at Summerslam.

Things changed, obviously.

I don't remember the Lawler-Tenryu match ever being announced, but I do remember an article in one of the Aptermags where Tenryu's appearance was essentially official.

You know here's the thing that got me about the Luger win at SS '93. They hype up how Luger has promised that he'll beat Yoko and win the belt. Come the PPV Luger wins by countout but, Yoko keeps the belt. And they have the faces come out, put Luger on their shoulders like he's won the belt.

It was funny how they tried to play it off like Luger did what he said he was going to do. Pretty much the whole thing made Luger look like a loser and a choker.
