Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2004 Just wondering. I've heard the series of Flair/Steamboat matches in '89 as the best in North America. But what about the entire world?

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 You're confusing me. "Best" and "Greatest" are not the same - and even then, you'd have to define both and how they relate to wrestling. (Greatest would have more to do with influence, money making, crowd response, etc. - Best would do with quality of ring work, psychology, story, pacing, etc.) Then you say "series" of matches, and the title of the thread says "Match". And then there's the whole issue of "all time, world wide" which no one can actually say since we haven't seen all the matches that have ever gone on in the world. But I can say this: Flair/Steamboat ain't one of em
EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2004 The greatest pure wrestling match I've ever seen is Jumbo/Funk from 6/11/76 that tells a great story about the mentor taking the student to school and the student using every trick he knows to get his teacher to lose. Just great psycholoy as Jumbo works the arm and Funk works the neck, and it's just a beautiful story told by both guys.
