Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Diana got smoked last night, but of course America will still vote for her to win, because we ARE America after all...one good thing for her though, she didn't look quite as plastic but still very much piggyish... Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Alright: Song 1: Diana - The IDOL SONG~! - Started a little shakey but she did a damn good job. Her voice sounded better here than I have heard it before. She went through a screaming fit, but nothing too bad, but she did miss the final note and it was cracktastic. Fantasia - All my Life. Sounded like crap to me. It started off with her going to high, and she wasn't really singing most of the rest of the song. Diana -1 Fantasia 0 Song 2: Diana sang something...I can't remember. It was okay, not great, not bad. But here is why I forgot what she sang.... Fantasia - Summertime. Goddamn this girl can perform this song. I would buy the single. DAMN good performance. You remember that time in the slam dunk contest when Vince Carter did the "its over" thing after his first dunk because everything after that was really pointless...you knew who the winner was? Well, Fantasia could have done that with this one. Damn. Diana - 1 Fantasia - 1 Song 3: Diana sang that song from last week thats name is escaping me. She was going along just fine, then she hit this ONE note wrong in the middle and she was terribly off for the rest of the song. Too bad when she started so strong. I disagree with simon that it happend because she heard Fantasia sing Summmertime, she just missed a note. It happens. Fantasia - IDOL SONG~! - Well...if that last one didn't prove it, this one did. She brought the freaking house down, although it was a little unfair to have a black gospel choir backing to the song when we know who has the edge there. But seriously, she floored the crowd, the judges, Ryan, everyone with this perfomance. Her face at the end did remind us of how unfortunate looking of a girl she is, but dammit she can sing, and she can perform. And her dress was booty-acular. Diana- 1 Fantasia - 2 The goes my opinions.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 ^Rip, Your dead on with the breakdown. If they just sang one song, I think Diana would've won. Fantasia should win because she has it all: Versatile, good performer, and charismatic. I don't understand why some you guys don't like her, I don't think she's sassy, I call it assertive and not backing down to Simon comments which she responds in a more of a tongue and cheek way. Sassy was that Kira chick in the group audition round before the final 32.
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 An hour and 15 minutes of absolutely nothing up til this point. But for some reason I'm kinda enjoying it.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Yea...they are doing a LOT this season, but that's kinda making me weary....they're just delaying...so they can SHOCK!@ you. But I dunno, tonight and last night Fantasia has proved she's miles better... I know the other finalist's and stuff...are thinking damn, they didn't do all this for us. lol. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 They picked the right one. Fantasia was far beyond everyone here. This wasn't exactly Reuben/Clay in terms of suspense.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I dunno..it kind of was to me. Because I kept thinking, this is gonna be the "HUGE SHOCKING SHOW". And I just kept thinking of the one where all the "divas" were in the bottom three. But definitely the right person won...and I can watch this season. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Well I wasn't surprised by the decision. I wished the final was a better two, but there's always next season.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Well I wasn't surprised by the decision. I wished the final was a better two, but there's always next season. True. I would have rather seen how Fantasia/Latoya turned out...seeing as they had pretty much the same fanbase. but evidently by Latoya not being in teh final two...we might know the answer to that one. Mik 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Don't like Fantasia. Glad she won though. She was just better. And how can you not love the final performance? So emotional. She almost broke down in tears when she was on her knees right before the chorus kicked in at the end with Love will lift me higher part. Just a great emotional performance. MooreMark 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I loved this season. Fantasia won, thank God. Jennifer was there and got a solo. Everyone looked great, just a brilliant job by the producers.

But I dunno, tonight and last night Fantasia has proved she's miles better... There was more filler on this show than Botox in Paula's face. I ended up watching Law & Order: SVU and playing Tiger Woods 2004, and only tuned in for the last 20 min or so, except for a brief moment where I saw Kelly Clarkson and thought "what the HELL is she wearing?" That outfit was beyond prom dress ugly. Poor girl deserves better than that. Oh yes, Fantasia. Well, Simon got what he wanted, and the right person (of the two) won. Don't know if there's anything to add to that...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Man .. http://www.idolfan.org/audios3.html I downloaded and listend to EVERY performance here and honestly, I think Fantasia was easily the best. Hudson really doesn't translate too well either. And Camille sounded alot better. Weird.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 what about my man george Huff, he sounded pretty good...I dunno, like Randy jackson, i grew up on that kind of singing in church and stuff so i took to it a lot better than the others...I'm just glad plastic pig didn't win because I don't think I could take seeing her plasticosity on a regular basis! He kinda sounded like Luther Vandross on that "What a wonderful world" he did. That and sitting on the Dock of the bay are banging. But he had some REALLY rough ones on there. The thing that is baffleing me is how i actually LIKE Camilles Yellowbrick Road from the results show now that I listen to it. What the shit is that all about. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I didn't have a problem with her rendition of it either actually...her voicec just wasn't strong enough to WOW anyone...George's downfall was when they strayed away from pop and R&B and got into country and big band and latin...like he's gonna fucking be singing that shit...i mean i know they do that to try and test a contestants range, but that sucks when it's a favorite of yours and you just KNOW they blew hard at it... Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Yeah, but I am kinda happy that George didn't win. he is still going to get a deal and will release album that isn't all "American Idol"ed and can play to his strengths more. George doing a R&B soul album would get bought by me.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I am kinda put off by the fact that the judeges were pushing america to vote for fantasia. that and the fact that the sound system was screwed up for two nights straight. anyones whos a sound person or is good with that sort of thing woulda understand what I mean. The mic seemed to have no effects on it. and I kinda think they rigged it to make fantasia sound better. but all in all I can accept her as the Idol. good for her. PS I was also irked that I heard someone say on TV something about Fantasia being wholesome. Now I am not one to throw stones, but doesnt she have a 2 year old kid? so that means she must got pregnant at age 16 or 17. I don't know where you guys come from but that's considered pretty unwholesome to me . but I must digress, she deserved to win. and Diana, one piece of advice, lay off the helium tank. dear god thats an annoying speaking voice
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I didn't like the Fantasia victory for a couple of reasons. -I can't stand her singing and her voice is whiney as hell. I'd rather rip off my ears and shove burning hot pokers into the holes than listen to her sing. -The judges said "America can vote for whoever" and then got mad when America did just that. They should've came out and just said "Vote for who we want you to because now we're going to bash everyone else and make the person we want to win seem like god." And they proceeded to do that after Latoya went home. They were like "We want Fantasia to win and now we're going to do everything in our power to ensure that it happens." And all the fat cows sitting in front of the TV are like "Well Simon and Paula said that girl sucks....it must be true!" Believe me.....they can influence people like that. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 27, 2004 So if judges think someone is better and they're there to JUDGE, what do you want them to do?
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 So if judges think someone is better and they're there to JUDGE, what do you want them to do? Exactly. And anyways..I've said before, the competition is basically to find the best singer, and if America decides to vote off the people who can't sing...then what's the point of that? If there was a way to just get rid of the voting system...without losing TONS of voters, I'd have to go with tha. They should have just let the judges pick from the beginning or something, because this way problems such as this season are just going to arise. Now of course even if they were to judge throughout...then everyone would be pissed with the judges. But so what, don't people get pissed with them anyways for insulting their favs? Plus the voting is half the show... But I still disagree with the voting most of the time, just not much I can do to change it.

People, let's go real slow: American Idol is just a really big high school talent show. It isn't finding the best talents in America. -=Mike
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 And if the best singing talent is voted off....so what? You're letting America vote. If they vote the best off big f'n deal you should've rigged it or not had the voting at all. It's like saying "Here I have this big mean guard dog and he bites everything!" then the dog bites you and you freak out!
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 most people that complain don't even vote anyway so they need to shut up...
Vanhalen 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 Hell, Im not eligible to vote, does that mean I can piss and moan?
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 I am still not following the complaining here. It is a show about the best singer. The judges judge the people with their opinions on their performances. America votes out someone who is a better singer. The judges disagree. [cartman]Whats the big fucking deal bitch?[/cartman] JUDGES will...*gasp* JUDGE the performances. Latoya never received any real critisim...she was voted out. Jennifer was praised heavily the week before she was voted out. John Stevens got bad reviews all the way through and kept remaining. But because Fantasia won, you say that it was because America listened to who the Judges were pushing?
starvenger 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 It is a show about the best singer. The judges judge the people with their opinions on their performances. America votes out someone who is a better singer. The judges disagree. The competition is about finding the (subjective) best singer, but it's NOT about the best singer. If it were, John Stevens and JPL would've been gone 2nd and 3rd, after Leah "Labelle" Vladowski, and Jennifer would've been final 6. The way the competition is set up, good singers will fall by the wayside, but generally, you will be left with 2 very good singers in the end. This is not always the case, as Ryan Malcolm won Canadian Idol despite being considered the 4th or 5th best singer in the competition. But because Fantasia won, you say that it was because America listened to who the Judges were pushing? For me, there's only one judge whose opinion means anything - Simon. Since he's going to manage the winner, he has a vested interest in who comes out on top. From her first semifinal performance, he openly pushed for Fantasia to win. He's never really wavered from that and while I don't think that that was a giant factor in Fantasia winning, I DO think that it played a role in why she was in the final 2 and not Jennifer or LaToya.
