deancoles Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 WWE is considering moving Spike Dudley from the RAW brand to the Smackdown brand. On Smackdown, Spike would work as part of the cruiserweight division. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter Why wait 2 years to put him in it,he doesn't really do that many Cruiserweight moves either.
TheFranchise Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 And he won't really do Smackdown either, so what's the point?
NoCalMike Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Wait a second, hold on there......Smackdown has a cruiserweight division!?!
Matt Young Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Actually, it'd kind of be a step down for Spike seeing as how he's actually had some success in the past against bigger guys. However, I always thought this move should be made, so it should be interesting. I still don't like Spike, though, and you're right- He doesn't do many cruiser type moves, so I don't know if he'll fit in. I just really hope they don't give him the belt simply because he's more over than most of the other wrestlers vying for it (which is only because he's been pushed and they haven't).
1234-5678 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 That's probably the best move for Spike. I mean, it's better then jobbing to Test or La Resistance.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Bad move IMO. Spike's appeal is being an underdog that has to use his speed to beat the bigger guys. Now in the Cruiser division he's still going to be smaller but guys like Noble, Dragon and London are going to be bigger and faster. Spike just doesn't have the talent to hang as a cruiser.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 That's probably the best move for Spike. I mean, it's better then jobbing to Test or La Resistance. Now he can job to A-Train and The Bashams
Lil' Bitch Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Fuck this, send Hurricane back to SD.
Downhome Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 How about we just fire Spike? I've never liked him at all anyway, and the last thing I want is for him to ever even get a shot at the CW title.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I bet you Ultimo is the first person forced to put Spike over
Guest BrokenWings Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 How about we just fire Spike? I've never liked him at all anyway, and the last thing I want is for him to ever even get a shot at the CW title. Agreed. I especially don't want him going due to the fact he'll be getting shots over people I'd rather see get them such as London and Dragon.
Downhome Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I just flat out don't like the guy. The only good Spike, is a beaten and bruised Spike. I only like when he gets the crap beat out of him, and that's it. Besides, why is he even still Spike "Dudley"? It isn't like he has anything to do with them other than very rare cases like a six-man for no reason at all.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 RAW has a huge roster of guys that need a new change of rivals and situations by being traded to SD, but they decide to pick Spike over RVD,Y2J or even the Hurricane.
Youth N Asia Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 All he does is bump hard for big guys...so I really don't see why he's leaving RAW.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 RAW has a huge roster of guys that need a new change of rivals and situations by being traded to SD, but they decide to pick Spike over RVD,Y2J or even the Hurricane. I'm not sure what RVD would do on Smackdown. He didn't have very good matches with Benoit and Brock, and RVD/Eddie is done to death.
AndrewTS Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Wait a second, hold on there......Smackdown has a cruiserweight division!?! Yeah. It's currently being exchanged between Madusa and Oklahoma, right? Well, if not, they're about the only worse choices to hold the Cruiserweight title.

I'm not sure what RVD would do on Smackdown. He didn't have very good matches with Benoit and Brock, and RVD/Eddie is done to death. Eh, I liked Benoit/RVD at Summerslam 02. Sure, there were selling issues, but it wasn't half as glaring and distracting as the ones in that HHH/RVD Raw match everyone creams over. Also, all of Brock's matches at that time sucked, except for the ones with the Hardyz bumping their asses off for him. Things could be a lot different now. Although, yeah, there isn't really anything for RVD to do, except for possibly teaming up with someone and going after the tag titles. He might be a little more motivated on SD, although not as much as he might have a year ago.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Well i've rather see RVD on SD than Spike, but is Spike actually going to Velocity instead of SD?
razazteca Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Apperently Albert got tired of beating up Funaki...
Lil' Bitch Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I'm not sure what RVD would do on Smackdown. Something different at least. He didn't have very good matches with Benoit and Brock, and RVD/Eddie is done to death. I disagree. I enjoyed all those bouts except KOTR finals because it was short.
Spaceman Spiff Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Fuck this, send Hurricane back to SD. Really. Ditch the Hurricane gimmick & turn him heel. Too bad the gimmick: a) makes $$$, and b) is Gewirtz's baby, meaning it will never happen. That's be much more beneficial to the cruiser division (such as it is) than Spike.
2GOLD Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Velocity? Please, Spike is going to Smackdown House shows where he'll be locked in great matches with THE BIG SHOW and MATT MORGAN. By cruiserweight division they meant, "We lost Paul London so we need a new lawndart on Smackdown. Spike is very good at being a lawndart so we'll use him."
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 This is a bad idea IMO, because he is a bump machine to put over bigger guys. He is NOT a jr. or cruiserweight in ANY shape or form.
DerangedHermit Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 This is a bad idea IMO, because he is a bump machine to put over bigger guys. That's why he can go to Smackdown, so Matt Morgan and A-Train can beat the shit outta him.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 1. Brock wasn't having watchable matches with anyone back when he faced RVD. 2. Benoit/RVD from RAW was real good 3. I'm always amazed that there are about 1000000000 times more posts about selling issues in Benoit/RVD from Summerslam than there are for HBK's performance ON THE SAME FRIGGIN SHOW.

Youth N Asia Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Spike and Van Dam had some hellacious house show matches in ECW in early 99. Van Dam won every time, Spike was over, and RVD didn't lose any heat for having a close match with the guy...although that wouldn't work with the "WWE Style"
