Discuss & Review: Mick Foley's Greatest Hits/Misse

Recommended Posts

I think it's funny that they overdub his Cactus Jack music for his ECW/WCW matches. Why wouldn't they be able to use "Mr. Bang-Bang"? (I understand not keeping "Born to be Wild")

The WWE has been on a hot streak with it's DVD's lately (Rey, Michaels, Bloodbath, Ric Flair and now Foley). I look forward to the inevitable Jericho DVD.

Mr Bang Bang might be licensed to Turner, not to WCW->WWE.

I'm not sure that I want to spend the money on this.

The best matches on the DVD I have on other WWF releases, the ECW stuff is terrible for the most part. The only reason to get it is the tag match against the Nasty Boys and promos.

I disagree, the Foley/Sabu rematch is a decent brawl, and with Foley's comments it adds interesting insight.

Imagine how good that Bret Hart DVD would be-if they ever make one, or two.

Imagine how great the next Flair set will be.

I'd definitely buy Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho DVDs, too. You could probably issue a decent set with just the matches where they just wrestled each other.

Did anyone else get the skull cap with the dvd?

I don't care about that thing...but in order to package it they put it in a DVD box big enough to fit that DVD and 2 more perfectly.

That's cool because it fits my 3 Foley DVDs (Best of Cactus Jack in ECW, Hard Knocks and Cheap Pops, Greatest Hits and Misses) and makes me feel special.

Well, I did like the tag match with Foley/Raven vs. Dreamer/Funk. The promos were great too, but all of this is probably on the Cactus Jack DVD. There is that Sabu rematch. That's not on the Cactus Jack DVD.

I am actually surprised there is no love for the Cactus/Whipwreak match, as I always thought it was one of the best matches in ECW history.

I like that match...I also like the match Cactus had with Shane Douglas that set it up.

That was Douglas' one match in ECW that I would call real good.

Not only was it a nice match...but it had the great ending with the handcuffs/Mikey chair shot of death.

Is that the one with the VCR and "Forgive Me Uncle Eric"?

I'm hoping I can get this eventually, but I'm having problems finding someone around here who's even heard of the Flair DVD. I may order both from Amazon.ca tonight.

Why wouldn't they be able to use "Mr. Bang-Bang"?

Cause it's a dumb song that made it to WrestleCrap?

OK, seriously though, I don't know. I didn't get why "Man They Call Sting" didn't make it either.

But Shane Douglas (like Joey Styles) prohibits the WWE using anything with his name on it...

What I don't get is why the WWE won't EVER put HHH v Jack HITC on a DVD. It's not like it was anything less than a terrific match. HHH v Jack at Rumble was outstanding --- but it's been on a few DVD's already. Why include the rather bad UT v Mankind HITC but not that one?

And more promos would have helped a lot, IMO. His work with Christian & Edge was friggin' gold.

The match against Sandman was entertaining because it was so poor that I coldn't stop watching it.

The extra material ranges from absolutely riveting (the ECW promos) to hilarious (Snow and Foley in Las Vegas), but many of the matches on this disc have already seen the light of day on many other releases...so I'm not quite sure this is really worthwhile for anybody who's not a Foley completist.

How edited is the WWE Disc? I heard it's heavily edited, is it so edited that watching one of the WWE matches is like driving thru a snowstorm without any windshield wipers?

I'm sure they're saving the cell match for Triple H's DVD.

From my guess, HHH/Foley will only be released after it has been blurred AND re-commentated on.

Foley coming back a month later after a "retirement match" ruined the emotion of the HITC in hindsight. Of course, they could run the angle of "this was SUPPOSED to be Foley's last match", but eh...

It's not to bad. Noticable, but bearable.

Outside of the giant WWF banners and logo in the entrance, I hardly notice the blurring out. And those two are minimal.

The blurring bothered me, but it makes me realise just how nutso WWF was about sticking their logo everywhere. Seriously, I don't think any other promotion puts their logo on as much stuff in the arena. Some of the editing seemed like it was really poorly done, and wrestlers end up getting blurred where they didn't have to be if they were a bit more careful about where to place the blur.

I'd have thought they'd be allowed to just leave the WWF logo on video footage, I mean if you've bought a wrestling DVD and see a photographer at ringside with a scratch WWF logo on his t shirt, you're not going to be confused as to weather he's maybe taking photos on behalf of the World Wildlife Foundation magazine are you?

I can see why they can't use the logo in other places like on a billboard in London but on a wrestling DVD, there's not going to be any confusion.

Still, it's Vince's fault for going back on his agreement with the other WWF. People always blame the Panda people but they aren't the ones who broke the deal.
