RHR 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 I was just thinking, with all the talk of Benoit coming over to RAW, couldn't the whole set up be that Jericho uses his wish to bring Benoit to RAW and take down HHH or Michaels? After seeing Benoit get screwed @ the Rumble, he decides to help his friend out... Think about the storyline possibilities...it cements Jericho as a face...brings back the Two Chrises again.....and Benoit has good motives against either HHH or HBK. HHH---Brought in the Radicals(gave them contracts), resolution to the storyline pre-HHH injury, work ethic vs. politics, etc... HBK---To do what Bret Hart should've done. Personally, I'd love a Benoit vs. HBK match @ WMXX, with Benoit winning a 25-30 minute match with the SHARPSHOOTER!!! Plus, this scenerio sets up a whole Two Chrises vs. Evolution story, frees Goldberg to go after Lesnar. So, to conclude, @ WMXX we could have... HBK vs. Benoit Goldberg vs. Lesnar HHH vs. Jericho Taker vs. Kane Orton/Batista/Flair vs. Rock/Foley/STEAMBOAT(eh...why not?) Right there, Hooters would have my $$$ and my time. Of course I won't buy it myself. Fuck Vince.
JHawk 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 That's certainly a better proposal than the rumored "I just want Hunter's title more" scenario we all went on and on about last night.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Are you proposing that Jericho's character would let someone else come over to get the title with his blessing? I'm not sure if that would fly with the fans, considering how he's been booked as a greedy, smarmy heel since October 2001. I still think that Benoit moving to RAW in any fashion before he takes on Brock again, devalues the World belt AND his own character.
J. Hungerford Smith 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Can Benoit's character be devalued anymore than it already is? I don't want him to get either title. It would be stupid because no one would give a shit. He's not even over. After all, what role is he playing right now other than Cena's bitch boy?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted January 22, 2004 What I don't understand is, Why not send Benoit to Raw, AFTER WM?
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 What I don't understand is, Why not send Benoit to Raw, AFTER WM? Because that means HHH won't get to bury someone new at Mania. And why would Bischoff do this anyway? It's not like Bischoff is a genie and he HAS to grant the wish of Jericho. If Smackdown and RAW were still feuding, I guess it would be interesting but I don't know why Bischoff would be out to screw HHH.
Austin3164life 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 That kind of story would be refreshing, compared to the crap that's been shown to us in the past two years. I really wouldn't know why Chris Jericho would want someone else getting his top spot, but it sounds like a lucrative story that could have a few interesting branches to it (the whole Clique politics pseudo-references, glass-ceiling "breaking"). Well, Jericho's already been the first Undisputed Champion already.... That's all I got. However, in real life Jericho's said that he's happy enough with that title reign. Guest Duncan Eternia Report post Posted January 22, 2004 I like your ideas. I would love to see Benoit go over Michales at Mania and than win the World Title in his hometown, Edmonton, at the Backlash PPV. Jericho vs. HHH sounds like another H victory and would keep Jericho down the ladder. But at least it would be a higher profile match than then one WWE is building for him and Christian right now. Good Ideas - that make sense - it just might work!!!
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 22, 2004 Honestly, I think this could be one of those situations like last years Wrestlemania. I think Benoit could be damaged if he doesn't win the title at WM just like Booker T was after losing in the title match to HHH. But the fact of the matter is if they want Benoit to be taken totally seriously and push him, he NEEDS to win the Royal Rumble, then win the title at WM. humongous2002 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2004 But the sad thing is that he (Benoit) will be use as HHH's mania jobber, IMO it just doesn't make any sense on why Benoit would rather go for HHH's title instead of Brocky's unless he feels that he's got better chances on beating HHH or Lesnar's title is not as prestigious or worth "chasing for" as HHH's fake belt.Another thing is why spend this whole time chasing the SD title so he could forget that goal and go for the RAW title??Either way as much as i want Benoit to win he will either job at MANIA so he could go back to midcard limbo or he wins the raw belt so he could get booked badly for 2 months so HHH could come back from filming his gay movies and win it back again. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 If they had enough time to develop it, it could work ... here's my suggestion: Jericho is facing Orton for the IC belt. Jericho wins, and post-match gets attacked by Orton and HHH. Trish runs in for the save, but HHH and Orton just shove her aside and keep putting the boots to Jericho. Out of the blue, Benoit runs to the ring and saves Jericho (I mean completely out of the blue, without theme music and wearing street clothes). This ends that week's RAW. The next week opens with the explanation: Benoit was just backstage visiting friends and saw his old aquintance Jericho getting stomped. Jericho then says that he used Orton and HHH come out to confront them, and challenge the Chrises to a match. Bischoff and Austin agree, but say it's not until next week. This week will be a rematch btwn. Orton and Jericho for the IC title, which will main event RAW. During the match, all of Evolution come to ringside, so Benoit, Storm and Morley come down as well. Obviously a brawl breaks out, and during the melee HHH pedigrees Jericho and puts Orton on top. But they're close enough to the ropes that Benoit puts Jericho's foot on the ropes. The ref ends up sending everyone to the back, and the match continues. After maybe 10 more minutes, the ref gets bumped, and Orton KOs Jericho with a chair and out runs Trish, who bulldogs Orton off of the top rope onto the chair, and puts Jericho on top. Jericho retains. The next week, it's announced that the Benoit/Jericho vs. HHH/Orton main event will be in a steel cage to prevent outside interference, and if Evolution win Benoit is fired from RAW and sent back to Smackdown but if the Chrises win, then Benoit gets a title shot at HHH. Obviously, the Chrises win. This would leave Jericho as a true face in a feud with Orton (which is obviously a step-down for Jericho, but it would only be short-term), Benoit feuding with HHH for the title, and Storm and Morley feuding with Flair and Batista. (BTW, I'd have sent either RVD or Booker T to Smackdown in exchange for Benoit. Maybe both, and have Edge join RAW when he's healthy. Storm and Morley could turn on the Chrises and join Christian and Edge could return in a run-in saving Benoit and Jericho) Sorry for the tangent and the quasi-fantasy booking ... obviously there isn't enough time to make this happen, but just a way that it could have worked.
