IllustriousOne Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 That happened, and went on as long as it did, for two reasons: 1) Too many people tried to connect to the MySQL Server (Where all your posts and shit are stored) at once. 2) It's still going on, because whoever said that everyone should keep hitting refresh over and over again is a moron, and hitting refresh over and over again basically creates a user-inflicted Denial of Service. This was out of my hands, because Mike the Admin is the only one with proper access. Go figure. -Josh

IllustriousOne Posted January 22, 2004 Author Report Posted January 22, 2004 Not exactly. Refreshing over and over again basically means a "fresh" connection to the server is attempting to be established. If the server is already down due to having too many connections, a bunch more NEW connections are not going to help. -Josh

The other error that we get all of the time, the MySQL error that is in that little box on the screen, the only thing I've been able to see that allows that to go away is to just wait for about ten or so minutes, then try again.
MrRant Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Downhome is talking about a memory error Ill... not the too many connections error.
Downhome Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Downhome is talking about a memory error Ill... not the too many connections error. Thanks. So is it ok if I continue the "refresh four times" trick to fix that one?
MrRant Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 I would just wait about 30 seconds and try again or open a new browser window.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Or go back and try again. I'm never gonna stop refreshing.
