Ravenbomb Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I'm only interested in the movie ones
Mole Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I don't think people are watching it because of the Rumble.
Ravenbomb Posted January 26, 2004 Author Report Posted January 26, 2004 oh. Charlize Theron won actress, so all is right with the world
Guest El Satanico Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I was hoping Billy Bob would win, but I can't complain about Bill Murray beating him.
Guest Deebo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Why did Jim Carrey take a shot at Will Ferrell when he was presenting best comedy/musical? Is he jealous of Will's popularity? Fuck him.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 They are comedians...are they not allowed to make jokes about each other.
NoCalMike Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 What did he say?... I second this question.....what indeed did he say?
Guest Deebo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 He was presenting best musical/comedy and he said.. "..and the winner is...ELF! oops, looks like that wasn't nominated this year" I don't know if that's the exact quote, but it was very, very close to that.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 OMG they're going to drop down in the parking lot now!...
Guest El Satanico Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 bah...that's not a shot. People aren't even allowed to joke around without someone making a big deal anymore. It's just silly to say that Jim Carrey is jealous of Will Farrel. He has no reason at all to be jealous of him. Jim Carrey is making 20mill a movie and Will Farrel just had his first hit film. What exactly would he be jealous of?
Guest Deebo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 It doesn't seem terribly bad when reading it typed out, but Carrey just kind of came off as a jackass to me. The smirk he had on his face kind of pissed me off, I guess.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 It doesn't seem terribly bad when reading it typed out, but Carrey just kind of came off as a jackass to me. The smirk he had on his face kind of pissed me off, I guess. Yeah, ELF disserves **** for being a great movie. So does that awesome film called Finding Nemo. [/sarcasm] Jim Carrey has been in countless good-great movies, and Will Ferrell is a SNL guy for life.
Guest Deebo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I'm not saying Ferrell is better than Carrey or that ELF was worth a shit. But what is the point of taking a shot at him and the film for no reason?
Ravenbomb Posted January 26, 2004 Author Report Posted January 26, 2004 didn't Jim Carrey present best picture Dramatic?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Deebo said it took place during the comedy/musical presentation. BTW: It's not like I care about any of this...
Mole Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I thought Jim was saying that Elf SHOULD have been nominated.
Rendclaw Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I'm just glad Return of the King got its due.
Mole Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 If it wins an Oscar, then it got its due.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 24 won best TV Drama which I surprised me a bit. And as for the Office winning best Comedy, theres probably some sort of conspiracy to either drive up the carriage rate of BBC America or to spark interest in the Americanized version of the show which will suck anyway. It says something about the lack of comedy on network tv's primetime..
OldSchoolWrestling Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Jim Carrey has been in countless good-great movies, and Will Ferrell is a SNL guy for life. Right. So you don't think they were calling Jim Carrey that "In Living Color" guy when he first started making movies?
Downhome Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I'm just glad Return of the King got its due. It's the only "due" it'll be getting.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Jim Carrey has been in countless good-great movies, and Will Ferrell is a SNL guy for life. Right. So you don't think they were calling Jim Carrey that "In Living Color" guy when he first started making movies? Jim Carrey was "The White Guy on In Living Color"
k thx Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 And as for the Office winning best Comedy, theres probably some sort of conspiracy to either drive up the carriage rate of BBC America or to spark interest in the Americanized version of the show which will suck anyway. It says something about the lack of comedy on network tv's primetime.. I dunno, IMHO The Office is one of the greatest comedies of recent times. I'm surprised it won, but it deserved it. And yeah, the remake will suck.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 A British show won? I didn't know that they were eligible for The Golden Globes.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 A British show won? I didn't know that they were eligible for The Golden Globes. It airs on BBC America, which is shown in the states.
Mole Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I don't believe I get BBC America. I have over 200 channels, so it might be there somewhere. But I don't have the patience to check out every channel. During the Eddie/Chavo video package, I turned to the Golden Globes. I caught the part when they showed Best Comedy/Musical show, and they did a little bit from the Office. It was pretty funny; even though most of the time I don't like British humor.
Guest Krazy Karter Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Jim Carrey was referencing the fact that comedies in general don't get nominated for the top honor because they're...comedies.
