Tables match: DUD

Rey/Noble: DUD

Eddie/Chavo: *

Brock/Lesnar: 1/2*

HHH/HBK: *

Rumble: ***-***1/2, need to re-watch it, but really good. Not up there with 1992, 2000, and 2001, but really good.

Flair and Dave over Duds: DUD. God...did they hit any spots? This won't be going on the next Flair DVD...I'll tell you that.

Rey Rey over Noble: 3/4*. What a THREE MINUTES that was!

Eddy over Chavo: *3/4. I loved the story...but you need alot more time to tell it.

Brock over Holly: *. Bearhog, bearhug, bearhug. 6 minutes and out.

HHH DRAW HBK: **1/2. And not just because it had no ending. The last match they had was a draw too...but that match rocked. This one was a nice ending sequence, HBK pouring buckets...and the other 10 minutes laying around.

Benoit over the world: ****. Real good stuff.

It's worth another viewing (and most likely my rating will lessen because I'm still trying to digest everything that took place and I'm in a marking out mode) but the Rumble match itself was at least ****1/2, if not *****. It was like a Shakespeare play with all the sub-stories going on throughout it and just the story of Benoit makes it all worth it. Marking out for Foley's inring return, the tease of the Undertaker, Angle eliminating Goldberg after Brock attacked him, Big Show playing the role of a "monster" really well...but of course the main story that everyone will remember is Benoit, Benoit, Benoit. I enjoyed the Rumble match more then I did witnessing it live last year in Boston. The only thing 1992's Rumble has better going on is it had bigger stars in that Rumble, but 2004 wasn't full of slouches either.

Rest I don't care about and HHH/HBK was a huge dissapointment around ***1/2. Sweet bump by HBK, though, through the announce table.

That sucks. I thought they'd have done better.

It was OK for what it was, but it was like 7 minutes long.

Being there live has a tendancy for me to overrate a bit, so take that into consideration:

Molly/Victoria - **. Flowed nicely and the ending was inventive and smart.

Tables Match - *1/2. Total going-through-the-motions stuff here, but nothing was screwed up badly.

Rey/Noble - **1/4. Sooooo short but really good while it lasted.

Eddy/Chavo - *3/4. Again way too short, and definately too much stalling for the little time they had.

Brock/Holly - 1/2*. Absolutely as bad as it could have been: Lay on the mat, suplex, lay on the mat, suplex, Holly has a minute of offense, F5, goodnight.

HHH/HBK - ***1/2. This was really fun live, but the beginning stuff was a bit silly and it got into "do a move and act killed" mode way too fast.

Rumble - ****. Really exciting as there was always something going on. There were little stories developed, comedy, and surprise.

Dudleys/Evolution - 1/4*

Rey/Noble - 1*

Eddie/Chavo - 2 1/2* (I dug it until the abrubt ending.)

Brock/Holly - 3/4*

Trips/Shawn - 4* (I thought they played up the ten counts perfectly and would've been higher if it wasn't for the ending.)

Royal Rumble - 4 1/2 - 5* (I have to rewatch it again to decide.)

I don't know what was up with those match times. I've seen Shark Boy have longer matches on Xplosion than they were given for the first 4 matches.

Of course...in the case of the tag match...that was a good thing.

I'm lying about the Shark Boy thing too...I don't watch Xplosion.

You get my point though.

Well I had to listen to it because I didn't order the PPV so I just turned to the chanel it was on, you know how some channels even through they don't produce a picture there's still sound, well yeah I had to do that...I just want to say That JR and Tazz did a good job of calling the rumble, anyways it sounded like a good event but the ending to the HBK/HHH match disapointed me, and I'm surprised it even happen at a PPV, bug GO BENOIT!

Molly/Victoria on Heat: *

Dudleyz/Evolution: 1/4* only for the final and ONLY spot.

Rey/Noble: 1/2* all three minutes was eh.

Eddy/Chavo: **1/2 OK but too short.

Brock/Holly: *1/2

HBK/HHH: *** Can't touch RAW match in every department but was good for a LMS.

Rumble: ****1/2 Best Rumble since 1992 but missed something to make it 5-stars.

So basically fast forward to the Rumble and watch Benoit own all for 1:01:34 (NEW RECORD!)

The Rumble was the best since 2000, easily, and maybe even better (will need to re-watch, just like everyone else). *AWESOME* storytelling and the whole thing made Benoit look like Superman on fucking steroids. Very well done.

Everything else was utter trash though:

Flairtista vs The DUDS - DUD, funnily enough. The very definition of FUCKING MESS

Rey Rey vs Noble - *, would of been more had they, you know, given them more than 30 seconds

Chavo & Eddie - *, complete waste. Months of build up for THAT match. Trash

HBK vs HHH - **, a finish so terrible it knocks a star clean off.

Rumble - ****1/2, brilliant stuff

I'm almost certain that Bob Backlund is still the record holder for the longest time in the Rumble.

Benoit lasted 20 seconds longer. Backlund was in 1993 for 1:01:13, Benoit was bell to bell for 1:01:34.

One thing I hated about the Rumble was the terrible announcing. JR and Tazz barely put over Benoit's marathon run until the end. Compare that to Monsoon and Heenan (who I don't even like on commentary usually) in 92 and how much more effective it was for Flair.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing during the show, comparing it straight to Ric Flair's title victory in '92. Heenan & Monsoon made Flair out to look as though he was the greatest athlete in the history of history, whereas JR spent the early days jacking off over Matt Morgan and later was all about Big Show (which, I admit, worked in Benoit's favour, yes, but hell, would it of killed him to acknowledge that Benoit was KING in that match?)

Also, did anyone else notice that Orton DIDNT actually suck tonight? No, really, he wasn't all that bad.

I pains me as much as anyone to say that, but I was really digging his shit tonight.

That would probably be the only reason I wouldn't give it 5*.

I 100% agree, even about the Orton thing. Very much like Flair/Bulldog in 92, I noticed, the parallels especially with Orton being eliminated halfway through.

I have to agree to, he didn't out right suck or anything and did a good job in the rumble (considering the match). Maybe because he got a few minutes alone with Benoit now and then.

Table Match: 1/2*

Mysterio vs. Noble: *1/2

Eddie vs. Chavo: **

Brock vs. Holly: 1/2*

HHH vs. HBK: ***3/4

Rumble Match: *****

I guess being there live really helps you like some matches alot better than others. I'll definitely be getting a second viewing of the show tommorrow, because I had a friend tape it for me, but as of right now, I have a new favorite Rumble match. There was such heat and booing because of the draw in HHH vs. HBK. I was really disappointed with the undercard up to HHH-HBK, but the Rumble match made it worth while. I'm pretty sure I got my "Where's Steve Blackman?" sign up a few times during the Spanish announce table bump in HHH-HBK and the Orton-Foley brawl.

Tables match - Blah - *

CW title match - So short - *

Guerreros - Same thing, anticlimactic - **

Lesnar/Holly - 3 bearhugs in 6 minutes - 1/4*

HHH/HBK - after viewing it again, **1/4 - The first 10 minutes was just HHH punching Shawn. Shawn's bump through the table was dumb, because it's not like he jumped and then HHH moved out of the way. He just flat out jumped through a table. Lots of blood, but lots of blood doesn't make a good match. I was expecting a little more brutal of a match. Maybe a pedigree through the announce table that they teased, or Sweet Chin Music into a chair or a big double fall through a table. The finish was blah too.

Rumble - Nice Rumble, especially picked up at the end. Slow start, but the end was really nice. ***3/4

About the HHH/HBK match, just want to add that I didn't rate it low because it didn't have big spots - it just didn't have much meat to it whatsoever. If it's a Last Man Standing match why not crush the guy's ankle with a chair or the steps? Instead they just punched each other a lot.

Everything * or below except top three.

Eddy/Chavo - **

HHH/Shawn - *** (id have went **** if anyone won, have to remove a star for finish that makes crowd feel cheated, not happy or upset)

Rumble - ****1/2 - the rumble was just a great great match, super fun, and put some people over.

I put Chavo/Eddie at **3/4 simply because they did all they could with the time. I wanted to go *** because it was smart and done incredibly well, but it just didn't last long enough.

Who ever booked/planned out that match for Brock/Holly needs to be kicked straight in the nuts. I wasn't expecting much, but I thought it would be at least a nice little stiff match and not a bunch of bearhugs and rest holds.

Liked the Rumble, the rest can fuck off and die. Eddie-Chavo was 7 minutes of build and then the finish. No near falls or nothing. Post match angle sucked, too. It made Eddie look like a sicko, and put sympathy on Chavo. Rey-Noble was too short. Tables was abysmal. HHH-HBK was boring as shit, IMO. Crappy brawling, crappy selling and the ten counts started to get rather tedious. Isn't it funny how the "Seven Years in the making, match to end it once and for all!~!!!!" didn't have a finish? I'm not looking forward to part 243. Holly-Lesnar blew.

I don't really blame Tazz/JR for not putting Benoit over like Heenan/Monsoon did with Flair in '92. This was much different. Brain was managing Flair at the time so he was always gonna be talking about Flair. Ross put Benoit over strong post match, too.

Orton was fine last night, but I'm sure the majority here will ignore that in favour of "Orton sucks! and has no heat!!!111!" garbage.

Crowd seemed really into Foley-Orton and Goldberg-Lesnar exchanges aswell as Benoit winning but they were pretty quiet overall. Pushes of The Cat, Bob Holly and Billy Gunn are surely over now as they all got little-no reaction when they came out.

The ending was worked perfectly though, with Holly getting lost in trying to go for the full nelson and Lesnar taking advantage.

My guess is the only thing laid out for them was the end.
