It would also be helpful if "smarks" would stop ignoring certain facts are changing history to suit their biases.

Let's look at Mark Henry for example.

Smark Myth: He sucks

Real Fact: At about the same time, both Mark Henry and Big Show were sent down to OVW to lose weight. Mark Henry had lost over 100 punds and improved in every way from wrestling to promos. Big Show was allowed back despite still having weight trouble. Henry was left behind. Vince wanted to get mainstream attention again. He oders Henry to regain the weight to compete in the strongman contest. After all of the weight is back, he is put back on TV and is never sent back to OVW for re-conditioning. He is just kept off of TV and suddenly throw into the racist gimmick with Long.

...how does that mean he doesn't suck?

That means that he is able to follow company instructions and lose weight and wrestle a decent style. It's not his fault that Vince McMahon is a media whore. Therefore he does not suck. Blame goes to Vince McMahon.

I saw Henry in a dark match minus the weight. He still managed to blow a few basic spots.

Also let's take into account that Big Show at one point was a draw where Mark Henry has never been more than a lower card joke.

Triple H is the best damn wrestler today! Chris Benoit isn't good enough to polish his boots the damn midget canadian. If you don't like it, then don't watch! [/Anti-Smark mode]

[ducks flaming garbage]

If you find someone who's actually said that, then hey, people might have taken that post seriously. But, of course, you had to go over the top and make yourself look stupid.

The majority of so called 'anti-smarks' probably think HHH has been medicore to pure crap for the majority of the year, and the last.

I don't think Henry is a bad person or anything, he seems like a company man, and a good guy, but I still think he sucks in the ring. I think a lot of people feel that way. I don't think it has much to do with "smark myths," and more to do with Henry being slow and limited in what he does in the ring. Just because somebody's not Sabuing everything doesn't make them any good. It further needs to be stated that wrestling, like most things, is a matter of opinion and there are no doubt people who like Henry in the ring, but in a forum known for its appreciation of fast-paced matches and extensive movesets, these people are just simply going to be rare.

As far as "X-Pac heat" goes, I always assumed that was just speculatory. There's no real way to tell that someone is getting booed because they're over or because they're boring, without asking each individual fan. But it's not unfair to speculate that someone who a good number of people find uninteresting could be getting that sort of heat. Conversely, it's also not fair to assume that's the case. I think both sides need to realize that.

Yeah, I was never really sure when HHH hate became a smark thing, since all the casual fans I know and almost all the ones I've talked to think that HHH has really gone downhill recently and isn't very good. Admittedly, this could just be my circle of friends, although I doubt it.

These "anti-smarks" (who, oddly enough, ARE smarks) use many similar sayings or phrases.

Not to be pissy, but if we're keeping score...this was typed up by a 'smark'.

It's great that they brought Benoit over to carry these two lumps to a good match and be overshadowed at the same time.  Can HHH even climb a ladder?  Fuck the WWE, this better not be true.

Pot, this is the kettle...calling you black...

How is it Smarkish asking if Triple H can climb a ladder at this point? I mean the guy has a different leg injury every week.

And it's true. Benoit got brought over to make Triple H and his boys look good. Reports have said as much.

Like I said in the other thread...

He's in better physical condition than at Armageddon 02 when he could climb a ladder...with an existing injury.

And if you read the thread, it's saying about Benoit v HBK v HHH. Since when has HBK been a 'lump', and since when did he need carrying by Chris Benoit?

Look, it was just an example to prove a lot of 'smarks' can be as bad as a lot of 'anti-smarks'. And note the apostrophes, because I'm not wanting to generalise people.

HBK isn't built for ladder matches anymore. He's a lump in that regard.

And Triple H is not in better shape from 02. He's flabby and he wrestles even less now due to leg injuries. I mean hell he can't even do the Pedigree right anymore because his legs are so bad.

I think he could manage a Ladder Match...after all, his back is completly healed now. And he's not had an injury since coming back if I recall correctly.

As for Trips...he had an actual injury at Armageddon 02. He had his leg taped up, he was limping around the ring. He wasn't limping at the Rumble. That to me would man Trips is in better wrestling condition than he was then. Wrestling shape...that's doubtful, yeah. But it's porbably easier to climb a ladder with weak legs than an injured one.

No need to get iffy. I was just trying to work in my flaming garbage line. Besides, how would I know if marks/anti-smarks hated/semi-hated HHH? Not that I follow everyone else's opinions.

I'll field this one.

My advice to you is to stop thinking that anyone who defends a position contrary to yours is trying to say that they are better than you.

No no no...obviously, in my ignorance, I am unable to comprehend how horrible the wrestlers are that I inexplicably enjoy watching.

I'm sure this is part of some deep-seeded homosexual crush on the wrestlers in question or something, at least going by the general reaction that usually results from trying to defend those wrestlers.

Please, tell this unworthy WWE-worshipping heathen what is good and bad, as I am clearly unable to decide for myself.

No one said the wrestlers you enjoy are horrible, all that's being asked for is a more open mind, by me at least. I can't speak for others.

And you're still doing the sarcastic pretense-laden thing. It's very unflattering.

Look, I'll lay it out to you straight.

My career involves being exposed to the current events of the world on a daily basis, and quite frankly, the state of the world is pretty screwed up. It's a real downer sometimes, and wrestling is my "out" where I can get away from that and loosen up, whether it's watching stuff on TV or going to local indy shows. If that means I'm a mark of sorts, so be it, but through my exposure to the IWC I've been able to gain more of an appreciation for the so-called "workrate" side of wrestling as well. So when a good chunk of one's life involves being exposed to the ugly side of the world we live in, it can be rough when my main "out" is regularly trashed.

I'm a weird sort, in that I seem to enjoy wrestling in and of itself...if a show happens to include great matches or particularly entertaining segments, then bonus. In fact, the "goofy" side of wrestling that others seem to look down on is actually one of the main appeals for me personally.

I guess you could say that I WANT to enjoy wrestling in whatever form I happen to be seeing it...but it gets hard to when the main message from the IWC(not all but most) is seemingly that I SHOULDN'T enjoy it because so-and-so isn't being used right, so-and-so doesn't deserve his push, etc.

Sob story over, soapbox mode off, pass the plate, cue the "waah waah fucking crybaby" responses".

I love this poll! I picked "Deal with it...." because frankly, if you're a smark and you're still watching and it NEVER EVER changes to what you hope that wrestling can truly be, then you're a dumbass that needs to DEAL with it. I gave up on wrestling for GOOD because it could never be what I wanted it to be. I stopped wasting my time with something that was never, eeeeeever going to be something I could like.

Most smarks I think like to complain simply to complain. Complaining > more fun than watching WWE. Get a life, find something you can actually enjoy and DEAL with it. It's amazing how many positive activities there out there. But if being a whiner who gets off on trying to be superior by simply complaining about anything and everything is your brand of fun, then being a smark might just be the career for you!

Besides if you're "smart" to the business, which everyone on here is then you are a smart mark...thus making you a smark. Everyone on this board is a smark.

THANK YOU. Someone had to say it.

You know it's funny, if someone doesn't agree with the general "smark" sentiment, there automatically anti-smarks. I guess it makes debating easier when you act like the opinion of dozens is really the opinion of one though huh?

Anti-smarks, almost as funny as people who call themselves smarks....

No anti-smarks are people that cause trouble with their difference of opinion. I disagree with many a smark but I'm not an anti-smark because I don't start shit at the end of my posts.

Actually I still watch in hopes that it'll get better.......because it will someday and I don't want to miss it. Plus I'm a wrestling junkie so I watch anything....good or bad.

And no I don't like complaining to complain.....I complain b/c what I'm seeing sucks.

Thank you...try again.

Ummm.......there would be no conflict if you hadn't have made that last comment. That was not neccessary and there I would've said "Ok....if that's what he thinks....." but when you add comments like that it makes it more like "Oh...he's just being an asshole."

Nobody watches something that bad without finding a source of entertainment or fun out of it. In your case it's critiquing the product. If it gets better, you know you'll find out, or at least be able to, no reason to sit through shit until then right?

And do you do that with every other TV show you watch? I mean considering Raw and SD are TV shows, you must apply this theory to everything else to right? Your tv schedule must be made up of nothing but shows you hate.

Nope. I just told you that I'm a huge wrestling fan......I like wrestling and I watch wrestling.

And I do find some enjoyment in every show. I like good matches...sometimes there will be a good match, especially on SD!.

But the majority of the shows suck. I don't watch to critique. The image of the guy sitting there with a notepad and clipboard looking for faults is false. Nobody does that.....except for maybe SK but he's an idiot anyways. I just watch the show....and if someting apparently crappy comes into my view then I'll mention it. I don't look for the faults...they come to me.

So why aren't you simply watching the matches? If it's about wrestling, watch the wrestling portion of the TV show and not he rest.

It's a TV show, if your in it for one part, watch that one part, it's a very simple thing to do.
