I voted "Deal With It", because I used it nine billion times justifying being an Orton Fan who thinks Paul London doesn't deserve a job

Man, if you're part of the 'intelligent non-anti-smarks', I'm glad people see me as an anti-smark.

Nah, people see you as a nitwit.

To clarify, anti-smarks are NOT people who disagree with popular opinion. Anti-smarks disagree with popular opinion for the sole reason of starting shit. They enjoy pissing off people. A lot of the time they don't even believe what they say.

They're not the same as people who have those different opinions and express them intelligently. Just wanted to clarify.

As for people calling themselves "smarks," most everyone here (with the exception of those who don't watch wrestling) IS a smark. Being a smark isn't always a choice. Once your eyes have been opened, hard as you try, you can never go back.

Maybe Olympic Slam had a point...I'd rather never watch wrestling again than watch it with that mindset.

Being a smark isn't a choice? I think we have the choice to assume and act like we know more about something than we do....

Nah, people see you as a nitwit.

A nitwit? Jeez, since when did this board run on 1920's language? Or is nitwit part of that damn 'rap language' that makes no sense. I mean, in some circles, 'anything' can mean 'nothing'. If nitwit is like the new rap equivalant of bitch, then fine. If not...then you need some new insults...

you nincompoop.

JMA...glad you cleared all that up. I realise there are some people like that, and why they get flack. It's just when people who have different opinions get shit over it and get called an anti-smark by certain people. I'll bring that up next time I'm called an anti-smark.

Or a nitwit.

Ghetto...I think JMA means that once you are a smark, you can't just forget everything about being a smark. Like, it's VERY hard to suddenly become a blind mark again to everything, like we all probably were as kids. Hell I used to cheer Virgil back then. I used to think he was a great wrestler...in a markish way. I doubt anyone on here could just forget their smarkishness and cheer someone like Hardcore Holly as you would have done if he were around in say 1990.

"Smart" means knowing something about the business and how it really works. "Mark" means one who enjoys wrestling. We're all smarks, and as long as we enjoy wrestling we all will be, and in that sense, we DON'T have a choice.

You nailed it. I gave up on wrestling because I got TOO SMART for wrestling. Because I know the ins and outs of booking and WWE in general, I was able to predict what was going to happen 95% of the time. I could spot match finishes from a mile away, I could tell who was getting pushed/burried and I had seen nearly every possible storyline at least once. For me, wrestling became less about watching a television show and more about critiquing a weekly show. I felt like every RAW or Smackdown I watched wasn't about whether or not I actually enjoyed what I was watching, but I spent the whole time analyzing/ what the writers and wrestlers were doing. I wasn't saying "oooh I can't believe HBK just won the title from HHH" I was instead saying "why is HBK getting a push? Are the writers still not trying to put over new talent?" Ect ect ect. It goes on and on.

2002 was a great year for wrestling for me because the product was bad, but it was the good kind of bad. I could bad-mouth the product but still tune in every week and still get pumped for a good Angle-Edge match. At least I could still care about the show even with its short-comings.

2003 ended wrestling for me because there was nothing left to enjoy. Everything pissed me off, great matches were few and far between and wrestling was never EVER going to be what I had hoped it would be (main event Jericho, more psychology, surprise match finishes ect). So I stopped watching the shows because I spent the whole time fantasy booking and critiquing what the writers and wrestlers were doing. I felt like I was grading a weekly homework assignment. IT STOPPED BEING FUN!

I hate Everybody Loves Raymond. Its a boring, predictable show. I don't watch it. I have no desire to watch it. So why would I waste my time watching it every week and analyzing what's wrong with the show? Think about it.

Um, I could not go on the internet and read "news" and then make judgements on the next 6 months of programming before it happens.

Just because I know things about the business other fans don't doesn't mean I'm something different. Smark is nothing more than a term to justify being dumb, which is ironic if you think about it.

And all I had to do was stop wanting to know all the latest bullshit, it's real simple, you do that and actually give things a chance beyond one promo and two matches and it's really enjoyable. Don't act too smart to fall for something when you know you can if you wanted to.

I mean hell, everyone complains about how there's no more suprises in the WWE, if you didn't go on any wrestling sites at all, would you of not been suprised by Benoit's jump to Raw? His win in the rumble? Hell everything that happens on Smackdown!?!

We very much have an option on the way we perceive and enjoy the product, some people are just too stubborn to realize it.

Ghettoman, you have a good point.

A few times recently, I voluntarily avoided the Smackdown spoilers before watching the show, and I found the show way more enjoyable because I didn't know ahead of time what was going to happen.

Ghettoman.....I'd agree with you if you didn't go about presenting your opinion like a jackass and putting people who call themselves smarks down.

Oh and I believe I coined the anti-smark phrase way back in the day.

See......"you're all dumb"......yeah great way to not start shit. You're the problem that JMA was talking about. You don't actually believe a word you say...you're just here to start shit for the fun of it. Bravo....all of your posts have now been rendered the ramblings of a complete and utter moron that's sole purpose in life is to disagree just to disagree.

Of course you can try to prove me wrong but all you're going to come up with is an insult thus furthering my point that you have no real opinion of your own...you're a brainless sheep.

You know, I don't normally criticize grammatical errors, but you're far too arrogant for someone who doesn't know the difference between "there" and "their," as well as "your" and "you're." If you're going to misuse a term, and then lump an entire group of people together into one stereotype, try to present your ideas intelligently. Thanks.

By the way, in case you missed it, basically every wrestling fan who knows that it's fake is a smark, in that they're smart to the business, but still marks. Smart marks. Smarks. That's where the word comes from. It's a group with a wide variety of opinions. You seem content, however, to take a small sample of this group and paint their (or, if you prefer, there) biases as being the entire group's, which is false, especially since you fall under this same group. And I know this may shock you, but not every "smart" fan posts at TSM. In fact, I'm the only one I know in "real life" that does.

This whole line of argument is flawed and not well thought out at all. Why not call it what it really is: posters on a message board, getting in a slap fight because they have a difference of opinion.

Their your going again! ;P

My gripe is with people who pride themselves in the label of smarks, as if it puts them higher than some other person, simply because they feel like they know more than they actually do. They act like business insiders when really there just fans who've aged with the prodcut. If you take offense, you must be doing it for a reason.

He probably didn't get it because it wasn't very funny.

Also, if your problem is with smarks who act like know-it-alls, address your complaints to them. There are many smarks who don't act or think that way, and yet again I see you generalizing and complaining about "all" or "most" smarks.

I saw at least 3 people call themselves smarks in this thread before I came to the conclusion I was going to reply, so thats why I replied.

Like I said, if what I'm saying isn't aimed at you, don't take offense. If I yell out "your a loser for shitting your pants" and six people jump up to say "no I'm not", guess what? We got ourselves some pantshitters.

I've made it clear who my gripe is with, the only way you'd feel inclined to respond is if you feel like part of what I described.

Oh, shut the fuck up. I take offense to you acting like an idiot and generalizing. You could be doing the same thing about black Jewish women, and it would still be ignorant. Get off yourself. I'm done with this "conversation," so feel free to get the last word in.

Real Fact: First, X-Pac heat does not exist.

Not necessarily. Sometimes it's hard to judge whether or not negative heat is heel heat or "you're boring us, get off our screen etc". For example X-Pac was hounded with boos, even when he was a face; which I guess could be a reason as to why it's called "X-Pac heat".

Not to mention the fact that anyone I asked........on the net or in real life hated the guys guts and either wished he would just die or get fired. That's some serious heat.

I'm sure they were completely serious too.

Heat is heat, if people aren't rushing the stands to attack the guy and throwing shit, I don't really see how it's any different from regular heat.

I mean does anyone even boo heels they like when they go to a show, or do you cheer for them?

Yes, you can enjoy the product when you turn your brain off and become a zombie. Which is why I don't like anti-smarks; they promote stupidity and ignorance.

And how else do you suggest watching half of TV? You do realize Raw and SD are television shows right? I mean your not under the idea there wrestling events are you? That would be foolish.
