Guest elite Report post Posted January 30, 2004 Dramatic Storylines Throughout The Degrassi Years: - Shane doing acid, jumping off a bridge and ending up in a coma - The whole Erica/Heather (I can't remember which one got pregnant) abortion dealy - Degrassi burning down - Wheels the adopted kid/orphan/run-away/liar/thief/drunk driver (man, that guy had a lot of problems) - Joey hooking up with 2 decent looking girls (look at him, how did he do that?!) - Spike getting pregnant at 13/thrown out of school for setting a bad example for the other students - Arthur striking it rich - Dwayne testing HIV positive - Kathleen's drunk mother/eating disorder/abusive boyfriend - Claud killing himself in the school bathroom and Snake finding him - Rick's abusive dad - LD getting leukemia - The Ms Avery's gay rumors and Caitlin having weird dreams about her - Lucy and Susie getting "touched" by that sub teacher - Caitlin's epilepsy - Stephanie being suicidal - Snake's brother being gay - Michelle's racist father and her moving out at...16(?) - Joey's learning disability - Liz being sexually abused as a child by her stepfather - Caitlin catching her father having an affair ...and those are just the ones that I can remember, I'm sure there were more. Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 They have rehashed some of the storylines. - Craig is the adopted kid with lots of promblems (even though he hasn't been drunk, a theif, or a liar yet) (Wheels) -Craig hooking up with 2 decent looking girls (Ashley and Manny) (Joey hooking up with 2 decent looking girls) -Ellie's drunk mother (Kathleen's drunk mother) -Terri's abusive boyfriend (Kathleen's abusive boyfriend) -Craig's abusive dad (Rick's Abusive dad) -Ellie being suicidal (Stephanie being suicidal) -Marco being gay (Snake's brother being gay) -Liberty's learning disability (Joey's learning disability) And the show is still going with no end in sight, so they can still rehash, and will rehash, some of the original Degrassi storylines soon. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember him being as bad off as they made him on Next Generation. Eh, I was young, my memory could be playing tricks on me. And if we follow the junior high/high series titles, Kids of Degrassi Street should've been called "Degrassi Elementary". That's basically what it was. Eh, I was young, my memory could be playing tricks on me. your memory is correct, he was not QUITE the tard he is now on the newer season...he was just slower, but now it's like he can't do anything without help...but i don't know much about mental retardation so perhaps your mind gets worse the older you get? I haven't seen the Ellie/suicide episode, but i don't really care much for her character anyway... My point about Terri is that she's a pretty girl that thinks she's ugly although numerous girls and guys have told her otherwise and I can't stand girls like that...it's like she needs to get a fucking clue here already...I'd take er over Paige, Paige has a weird shape to her face, something just doesn't look right on her and it's not just her nose... They're pretty girls (Obviously too young for me) yet they make themselves look like shit (Ashley as a goth and Ellie always) with make up or the "Avra" look Ellie is doing. BTW I wish Christian referred to the Christian/Jericho/Trish stuff from Raw as an episode of DeGrassi Junior High and not the O.C. Of course, the only people that would get the joke are Canadians who were teens in the 80s, and American kids who watched it every single day in their 7th grade health class. (me) I don't watch the new ones. But I remember in Degrassi High he'd come back and be all "Kindergarten-ish". The episode with him jumping off the bridge seems like it would've been EPIC~! Wish I had seen it. The only thing I don't like about the old show is the inconsistencies in the family life. One episode a girl's father comes to pick her up from prom because she wasn't allowed to go, the next her brother picks her up from a party where she explains that her brother has been the father figure in her life ever since "her dad died ten years ago". Not to mention the kid whose long lost father he dislikes because he abandoned him to play in a band, whereas a few episodes later his parents are both old and die in a car accident, leaving him to live with his anal retentive grandmother. I guess Wheels has more in common with Craig then I thought. And I like Ellie's "punk" look. I find girls who look like her to be attractive. Don't know why. I even thought Ashley was hot when she was goth, but only when she let her hair grow out. But I find her current look to be the hottest. It's those blue eyes.
