Prodigal song

Recommended Posts

Alright I started this post to ask "Do you think there is a song that Jay-Z made that was above all the rest? If so, what is that song?"

I still to this day, say it's "Nigga What NIgga Who" though I believe "Encore" wraps up his career in the best way possible, I still belive that was collaborative GENIUS from Timbo's synth sculpting to Amil's hook cameo.Without the help of all, that was in that song it would just be another one of Sean's notches.

Welp your opinions

My favorite Jay Z song is one his songs off of the Gray Album, a cd made with Jay Z's lyrics from the Black Album and Beetles beats from the White Album(is that what it's called? I don't listen to the Beetles too much.).

Black plus White=The Gray Album

"Song Cry." His party singles and "I rule" raps are great, but that's just untouchable.

Also, I think the Grey Album is kinda retarded. It's barely pushing cute, actually.

Have you heard Lobster & Scrimps?  It is also a Timbaland & Jay-Z colab track.  Or Hip Hop Rock which is a colab with Outkast.

That's Flip Flop Rock.

Damn the fancy cursive font from the insert. The F & l to me looked like an H.

Some of his best:

"Heart of the City(Aint No Love)" and "Renegade"(also featuring Eminem's best verse ever) off the Blueprint are my favorite Jay Z songs.

Although on the Black Album, "December 4th", "Encore" and "Allure" are really good songs.

Out of party songs, none of Jay's song can match "Big Pimpin" IMO.

I agree on all of those but the jay-z unplugged version of heart of the city is just fucking great

I really dig Hola Hovito (or whatever the name of the song is).

I can't really think of one Jay-Z song that blows me away- it's more his ability to be consistantly interesting and clever. Most MCs who have that volume of work just dry up.

I think "My First Song" is the perfect closer. (much better than Encore to me...)

"Too 22's," I also liked "Dead Presidents," The unplugged version of "Takeover" I like the part when The Roots switch it up to Nas' "Occhie Wally" beat when Jay starts diss verse to Nas.

"Dead Presidents", "Takeover", "Renegade", "My 1st Song", "Politics as Usual". But I think "Brooklyn's Finest" and "Moment of Clarity" are his best ones.

But as far as selling goes, hands down goes to "Hard Knock Life". Completely different and completely hot.

I liked the Unplugged version of "Heart of the City", but more for Jaguar's hook than the song itself (she KILLED that one).

As for my favorites from Jay..."Meet the Parents", "Moment of Clarity", "Justify My Thug", "Dead Presidents", "Can I Get A...", "Can't Knock the Hustle", and "Coming of Age II" with Bleek (at least I think that's the name. It's on Life and Times volume II).
