Eclipse Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Well, I received a new CD burner today in the mail. I decided to install it. Well, of course, there is a remaining CD bay. I thought..."It should be easy, just pop out the cover facing the PC closing the CD bay, and boom, easy installation. BUT.....nope. I have NO CLUE on how to take out that cover. I tried taking it out by force, but I didn't want to risk breaking it. Inside of the empty CD bay, there are like 2 tabs in there. They look like they could slide out...but they didn't. What can I do? I have no clue what to do next! By the way, it's a Compaq Presario 5000 Series.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 We have the same computer. The process it quite simple if you read those directions. I had to do that to unplug my worthless piece of crap CD-RW drive that came installed, although I still havent figured out how Im supposed to get my disk out of it since it doesn't even have a manual release pin hole thing. Its not a big deal since the disc isn't important and probably scratched up a good deal.
BX Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 You dont need a burner, despite what anyone tells you. Making CDs and DVDs are quite easy.
The Kid Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Same thing happened to me installing my burner, but I got it off by using FORCE~!
Eclipse Posted January 30, 2004 Author Report Posted January 30, 2004 The lighter thing...NAH!! Well, The Kid gave me the best advice....FORCE. I put the most force EVER on that thing, and it popped out. I already burned a CD....SWEET!!
Guest bort Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Same thing happened to me, I spent 2 hours trying to get the cover off, I even stapped the metal thing that was in the way.....beside the floopy drive there was 2 things that i pushed on and it opened it up for me....
BX Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 You didnt have to do that. You should have looked into the cavity, and said, "Alt-f4". Works for me all de time.
