The Thread Killer 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I just wanted to say that I think John has done an outstanding job as the MMA writer and I really liked his new UFC Preview. I used to hold this position myself here at TSM when I did the "Tap Out Wrap Up", but I just don't have the time to write detailed previews and reviews like I used to. I think John is a great writer, and a great guy, and I wish him all the best as the TSM MMA writer. I still love MMA as much as I ever did, but with my day job and other writing responsibilites at Shoot Project I just don't have the time to do it, and give it the time, effort, and insight that John does. I hope to still contribute to TSM in the future in some capacity, but for now it's great to see that TSM MMA fans still have a column to read...one that is probably better than mine ever was. Kudos John, and good luck!
Guest HungryJack Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I really dug the column too, John should prove a worthy successor to Dave.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Eh, it made me feel really bad that I don't have ppv ordering ability.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Thanks Dave. I really enjoyed your columns before and coming from you, this means alot. It wasn't really much of the exciting column, I hope to improve on that for the future. I'd love to do another joint-column/preview or maybe a round table discussion on various subjects. I'm hoping to try and get a non-preview column up sometime in the next 2 weeks on "The Top 10 Fighters You Need to Know About" - Dave, I'd love for your insight on that. The Thread Killer 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 That sounds like a great idea for a column, I would be happy to contribute to that. As far as a roundtable, that I could do. I know there are some great MMA fans around here who could also contribute, including old Jacko here. (Yarr.)
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I'd like to contribute to MMA content on the main site as well. If you need some insight or another guy, I'm here.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 I wouldn't mind doing a DVDVR100 style review, where you have a top 20 matches you need to see with different people looking at various "great" matches.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 AH-HA! I KNEW IT WAS RUDO! Seriously, I immediately saw just the little part to get me hooked. And damn was I glad I read that. Rudo, you definitely wrote up a hell of article that I definitely enjoyed reading. Now if I could just get a PPV thingy then I'd definitely watch this PPV just because of what you wrote up. Really good stuff Rudo. Hopefully, I'll be seeing more of them soon.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2004 Excellent review, Rudo. I think if you keep consistent with them, you'll be able to get a good MMA following here. You should have put an e-mail address for feedback though, IMO. Also, I'll see if I can help you with the images next time. My apologies. Dames
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2004 I paid kudos in the UFC thread in MMA/Indy's but I'll say it again, good job Triple R. And while were at it, I think now would be a good time to try to give MMA it's own folder again. (just try it!) I know it had one before and lacked interest but I think it has a much stronger following, would be well supported, and deserves a shot. I just hate having to sift through the Indy crap and having its own folder may generate more topics in MMA (as people visiting would know they are getting MMA content). Try it out! How 'bout it Dames?
Guest HungryJack Report post Posted February 4, 2004 Shiiiiit. i'd be down for that, except my school oad is pretty brutal right now.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2004 As well, topics keep getting bumped due to all the Indy content and questions keep constantly coming up (Best DVD's etc.) Maybe these topics would be easier to find for new posters in just an MMA folder. Also, we could have a Pinned MMA FAQ and stuff since a lot of the posters are just getting into it and probably have some similar questions.
Insane Bump Machine 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2004 Also, we could have a Pinned MMA FAQ and stuff since a lot of the posters are just getting into it and probably have some similar questions. We could also have stuff like "Matches/Events/DVDs to check out" or "MMA sites that bring the content~!" as stickies, like in the puro folder. I'd like that, since I've been following MMA for just about a year or so and don't know anything about the older events. Well, except Pride 10 (get it now, the main event rules your ass!). I also don't want to register to the boards on one of the big MMA sites because I like TSM and don't have enough time to post on 2-3 different sites.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2004 Dammit, I'm planning to write an article on all that! Don't do it!!! .... YET!
