Clusterfuck Comments

Recommended Posts

Bah, after all the work and time I put into my match, and incredibly insane obsticles I overcame to turn it in, this is too disheartening.

As of now, I'm retired, and I probably won't be back.

Congratues to Va'aiga.

Well I'm quite frankly knackered so I'll keep my comments brief tonight before I collapse into bed.

"The Superior One" Tom Flesher vs. The Wildchild

WC lashes out a few quid and gets DJ Kool and Redman to perform LIVE~! A very nice ladder match from WC who's going back home with that Cruiserweight Title draped around his elegant Caribbean waist. The Backdrop Driver onto the ladder made me WINCE something horrid. and then WC got his own back headscissoring Tom out of the ring and ONTO another ladder. The pain came swift in this match thats for damn sure but all in all it was a pleasure to read.

Sacred vs. Landon "La Cucaracha" Maddix

And we have a unifed champion in Muzzems. Looks like WC isn;t the only one who's going to have a sore chest tomorrow after this little fight, WC with no ribs and Sacred without any skin from those chops. Not really much that I can say except that it was another damn fine match.

THE CLUSTERFUCK BATTLE ROYAL!

Pending still.....but whoever wins I'm sure it will be a damn good read.

"Deathwish" Danny Williams vs. Va'aiga

Another very good match to be sure and I commend Cardy for it. Danny..... well not much I can say except that you'll be sorely missed...

OMFG!!!

That was truly awesome! WC congrats, and Cruiserweight Champion no less, that's going to be cool as heck to have a new title!

Sacred with a match that is awesome to the bone... what ever that means.

Congrats to whoever winds up winning the fuck... whenever it happens.

And Va'aiga, I have to admit, I did not expect you to pull that one out at all, but you proved me and probably a lot of people wrong with a heck of a match there. Good job and congrats.

I'm really not that good with analysis and stuff, so this will be short, but:

Wildchild vs. Tom Flesher, Ladder Match

I don't really have a whole lot to say about it... I didn't realize at the time that I was writing it that I used the word "gingerly" so much; I usually catch stuff like that in the edit, but I was waaaay too tired to even pay attention.

Anyway, I hope that it was well received; the first person to guess what my favorite spot was gets put over on Frost.

Andrew Blackwell vs. Landon Maddix, Unification Match

Landon channels the spirit of Rey Mysterio Jr. as he twirls his finger, much to the fans displeasure. The Disciple backs into the ropes behind him, then sprints like a gazelle across the squared circle, grabbing hold of the ropes and twirling around like an acrobat, latching onto Blackwell’s neck like it were his mother’s teat!

“Now that comparison was just uncalled for,” remarks a rather disgusted Cyclone Comet.

Did I read that correctly? Did Comet actually comment on the narrative?

Anyway, I liked the match; good job of putting over the significance of the match, and making Roach out to be a threat to Sacred. The heel/heel dynamic has to be difficult to write, but it came across fairly well.

Danny Williams vs. Va'aiga, World Heavyweight Championship Match

Throwing his arm out sideways Va’aiga preps one of those EVIL NASTY LARIAAAATOOOOS, but Danny has him scouted like Baden-Powell...

As a former Boy Scout, let me just say that I totally marked when I read that!

I'm sure that the whole no-selling thing near the end of the match is an allusion to some great Puro match, but me being the Puro virgin that I be, I didn't get it. The match was very well done, though; I'm a little concerned about what could possibly be interpreted as hot-shotting with the World Title, but I suppose you'll have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

I'm sure someone will be able to provide better analysis than that, but I just wanted to get that out; let you guys know that someone actually read your matches, and whatnot...

- Dub Cee

Oh...well, I lost. Can't say that I'm surprised to be honest, my matches always suck when I'm writing ill. Not that that's any excuse, as Sacred did great. At least I got put over I guess. My match'll be up in the loser thread in a minute.

Congrats to Sacred, great match and again thanks for making me look good.

The Ladder Match was suitably brutal, and Va'aiga did a great job with the All Japan rules...congrats to him. Eagerly awaiting the Clusterfuck match...so far, great show.

On a side note: King says there will be an immportant announcement regarding the Fed after the Storm Card is posted. Now, everytime I have seen something like this go up in the JL, it's somebody quitting. I sure hope it isn't King, or GSMS for that matter, but who knows what it is.

Danny -- if you quit, I will kill you, and take away all your Gang of Four records.

And then where will you be? AND THEN WHERE WILL YOU BE!?

...Ahem, congrats to everyone else. Hopefully by Thursday I will have time out of my hectic schedule (sleep) so that I can read the 'Fuck and hit the winner up with some in-depth comments. Until then... I just saw David Bowie in concert oh God I'm so tired and happy goodnight.

And now a totally non-biased review of Williams vs. Va’aiga.

Blarg, I really dislike all the restarts at the opening, especially considering that nothing that meaningful happens in-between them except what I would expect would be slow, sloppy mat work from two rather big oafs.

Va’aiga getting dropped from three straight mid range running elbows worked in the classic early face/monster match hot spot sense. However, the standing waistlock switch from nowhere was kind of weird, and awkward.

Early Powerbomb tease was good, showing that Williams’ offense has a focus. Nice to see a face in peril heat spot with the Boston Crab, but may not have been well timed. These usually should come at a time when the heel has been dominating, and the fans are sick of it. Danny’s delay sell of the Boston Crab was also kind of silly, and I’m really surprised that the goof balls at NOAH haven’t done something like that yet.

I don’t get the early Va’aiga Stinger tease, isn’t that the a rarely used super move, and it’s being built too from the get go. The Double K.O. spot was well timed, and logical considering Va’aiga had just took the German and the Brainbuster.

Williams escaping the Rolling Germans, and suddenly gaining control to hit some move that I have no idea what it is was pretty goofy. I never liked how someone can take two Germans, and suddenly reverse the third and be o.k, at least do something to sell the other two. In Francis/Williams, Danny took the Rolling Germans, and was dead, unable to prevent Francis from hitting the Cobra Clutch Suplex. Williams kicked out, but never got any more offense in.

Va’aiga doing the Hulk Hogan impersonation was pretty fucked up. Williams pops up from a finisher! Va’aiga pops up from a finsher! And this match turns into a total shit fest that makes Kawada/Mutoh look like Kawada/Hansen.

I love you Va’aiga, I love your character, I love your writing style, so I ask...why...why....why would you ruin an otherwise good match with one of the worst endings in wrestling history?

There is some good stuff to be found here, but tons more head scrathing stuff. The strike exchange at the end was good, if only it didn't follow about 3 finisher no sells. Truth be told, I'm even more upset with my loss, now that I've read the winning match.

The resets at the start are showing the match hasn't developed past the early striking stage. I didn't want to hit a SINGLE move till about 4K, in the end i think i gave you a couple but i didn't get any myself, so the whole story to that section is strikes work, but until the opponent is worn down ANY throw doesn't. Includes the Misawa/Kawada back pedalling out of a German spot. I was also under the impression that Danny had some amateur background, which is where the matwork comes from. It's similar to Va'aiga vs Tom where i was trying to suggest that Tom was carrying me to a good match.

I KNOW you hate delay sell spots.

The Stinger Tease is supposed to suggest that Va'aiga is TOTALLY prepared to fuck Danny up, and to give Danny a counter to get control of the match. It's a big move to tease for a simple transition, but I'd wanted a lraiat tease elsewhere and seeing as our last match had about FIVE lariat teases I didn't want to overdo it. I'd have had Danny counter the Maori Drop, but that would have just been falling forward onto Va'aiga and wouldn't have naturally set up anything.

The counter to the Germans with the loose as hell elbow is hinting at something that had been skirted round before in the match. Danny either dislodged or broke Va'aiga's cheekbone with that elbow (Hence the "SHould Va'aiga fight on?" question) Even a wobbly strike hitting the sweet spot was enough to send the Maori staggering around in pain, but I didn't WANT to express the actual break, because I was gonna do a post show promo from the hospital, putting you over HUGE. That didn't happen because I didn't want to promo before the 'fuck's up, after all would Duran be in hosptial seeing Va'aiga NOT talk about it at all if he won. Or for that matter if Grap or Janus won.

The finish was supposed to represent the two current grandstand superstars expending every last bit of energy they had trying EVERYTHING to win and showing their fighting spirit by running on fumes. I wanted to play up the stable rivalry, which is why I used the other moves. I was finding your moveset horribly limiting near the end. Dace's opinion was it ended up being late 90s AJ, a period often criticised for mindless stuff, but I haven't really seen ANYTHING between 94 and 2000, so i wouldn't know. In hindsight i REALLY should have used two counts, but at the time I wanted a total chaotic scramble feel to the finish, and the pacing of my match - which I took a TON of time getting right, stuffing commentary around the holds and lulls and stripping big stuff to the bear minimum is meant to suggest this.

I did EVERYTHING I could to make this match as dramatic as possible, and as readable as possible. I changed my writing style, I took a TON of time with the phrasing, the match pacing within the writing. I made sure this was the best WRITTEN match I'd ever done, rather than concentrating wholly on the wrestling side as I usually do.

I hope you reconsider and come back and try to kick my motherfucking ass again. That's what I did to Crow after the botched Frog Splash finish I HATED and bitched out Z about for... well I'm still doing it now if i'm bored.

I would ALSO like to hear from King on what he thought of the two matches comparitively, but I'd rather that was done in private.

Fuckalicious! Going in, I, the latent floaty-observer of days past, thought it was gonna be either Craven, Janus, or Grappler winning. Not bad on the final three, eh?

I was surprised and a bit disappointed that Thugg was so quickly dispatched, because there's a legend and an instant career-defining moment if you eliminate him in the ending run of the match. But that's old-man nostalgia, I think. All in all, stellar stuff - a great balance of quick eliminations, long hauls, and lip service a-go-go to would-be feuds and recognition of past battles among all the other guys involved. I never wrote a Clusterfuck match the one chance I had and it was mostly because I was so late in the draw - I couldn't envision writing that many words without my own character in there. But the Superstar pulled it off, in shining form, and even made Xero memorable. Kudos times ten.

I agree Edwin...I didn't like the way I was eliminated...I kind of figured someone would take the chance to over on HVT in a big way at the end, or at least in a very intense, high point of the match. Or at least not have 400 pounds of HVT run into turnbuckle and fly all the way up nearly to the top rope...that was a bit confusing.

Anyway...that was kind of cool though. For the entire match, I thought Craven was going to win...I really, really did...so that was awesome. Rarely do you read a match where you don't know who's gonna win...but Matthews got me there. Good job bro, and good luck.

Absolutely King...I'm not upset about the way I was eliminated. I just said that I didn't really like it...I"m not pitching a bitch or anything...I was just saying. It certainly matters very little, and I will certainly roll with it.

"The resets at the start are showing the match hasn't developed past the early striking stage."

Which isn't bad as long as it goes somewhere.

" I didn't want to hit a SINGLE move till about 4K"

Yeah, but here are so many things you can do besides stalling and resetting. Just look at how someone Austin masterfully uses his time in the 96 Survivor Series match with Bret. I would say Misawa and Hansen, who are true masters at filling their time effectively without relying on high spots, but I'm not sure if you've seen their better work.

"Includes the Misawa/Kawada back pedalling out of a German spot."

7/93 is their only great match with loads of restarts, but inbetween each one is a meaningful spot that still furthers the match. Like a strike exchange, a rope running spot, a hight spot tease, Kawada attacking the arm..etc.

"The counter to the Germans with the loose as hell elbow is hinting at something that had been skirted round before in the match. Danny either dislodged or broke Va'aiga's cheekbone with that elbow "

Sure it hurt Va'aiga, but that doesn't mean it healed Williams.

"The finish was supposed to represent the two current grandstand superstars expending every last bit of energy they had trying EVERYTHING to win and showing their fighting spirit by running on fumes."

No, that's the finish to Hokuto/Kandori. Sorry, but yours came off like two guys no selling stuff.

"was finding your moveset horribly limiting near the end"

Which should maybe tell you that you were going overboard with the high spots.

"Dace's opinion was it ended up being late 90s AJ, a period often criticised for mindless stuff, but I haven't really seen ANYTHING between 94 and 2000, so i wouldn't know. "

Not even Kobashi at his most braindead was as goofy as your finish.

"I would ALSO like to hear from King on what he thought of the two matches comparitively, but I'd rather that was done in private."

As would I, but I'm not gonna push it, and stir up trouble again. I just disagree with the decision, and leave it at that.

And to Thugg (and others like him), I know I wouldn't please everyone with this match, but I just tried to make the best of it. For one, I'm not a fan of having a huge amount of people in the ring at one time (hence my largest number being 7 for a VERY short time), and it's just unfortunate that some people came in when they did because I knew the core group I wanted to keep in the match. I really just wanted to make Thugg's elimination look like a fluke; I saw that Rando's character is like a glorified hippy~ and I decided to play with it (obviously nothing against Rando himself). So yeah, I just worked with what I had, and hey, I guess it turned out alright. Thanks for the feedback, though.

I, too, am with Thugg on the "surprise" part... though when I was thinking earlier today (before the match went up) and about who showed...I just sat there thinking "Grap is gonna win this" ...and I wasn't dissappointed.

(Y) Thumbs Up. (this goes for everyone...even the losers that showed. And that includes Tom, Landon, and Danny). (Y)

EDIT: Glorified Hippy. I like that. No tie-dye though... my friends refer to me as "stoned without the drugs" ...so that's what you will see.
