I would like to recommend that become standard procedure whenever a mod changes the content of a member's post.  Same with thread and post deletion.

There's no way I could get behind this. It's simply too much "paperwork" for a staff member to do. I'm not going to cut and paste someone's original post and PM it to them, along with chapter and verse from the board rules as to why it was edited/deleted.

 

It comes down to this: staff members are not here to abuse their power. It requires you to have a level of trust in them, yes, but if you can't trust the board to be moderated fairly, then maybe you should find another board.

 

I'm not trying to encourage anyone to leave. That's just how I feel. I'm not going to abuse my power (even though I might joke about doing so from time to time), and I think most of the posters here know that. I don't think anyone on our current staff would recklessly abuse their power, and if they did, I'd remove their powers myself.

You guys seem to be noting the fact that none of the new mods hold petty bullshit net "feuds" like so many other "deserving" posters do. People like AS and Zsasz will never sniff a mod slot because they've got too many enemies around here and in no way could they be impartial. I think the choices are about as good as you could hope for, as they're three people who aren't likely to be partial towards certain posters and whether you'd like to admit it or not, a lot of the regulars in the WWE couldn't say the same. Simple as that.

I don't think I've "feuded" with anyone. I've had heated exchanged and arguments with people before, but that would be the extent of it. Nothing persistent and long-term like a feud. Besides, I don't care if people argue with me, as long as they keep the douchebaggery to a minimum. Despite what people like the erstwhile BRUCE used to claim, I've never once banned or suspended someone simply because they argued with me. I can't remember another mod doing that, either.

Okay, not so much "feud" as argue extensivlly with certain posters and clearly dislike some posters to the point where they;ve bitched about it.

Really I don't see the point in more mods. The more mods you have the greater the odds that someday someone WILL abuse their powers. Also it increases the risk of miscommunication between the mods (For example... tom's mistake of announcing this early.)

 

Why can't (for example) Brian and Kahran take care of the WWE folder? That's where they do most of their posting anyway, it makes more sense. Same with Tony149.

 

I don't dislike any of the proposed mods but I don't think they're needed at all.

 

The rules are good though (other than the daily news thread).

BPS is also the only mod that lets people give as much as he takes. Every couple weeks a thread pops up saying someone was unjustly banned...how many have had my name attached to it?

 

I'm the mod that lets the board be what it is and cleans up only the stuff that goes way out there. In fact...I deserve a medal....or perhaps a cookie.

 

I just never saw the need to change the way I discuss things because my avatar says Moderator. I'm still a poster here 99.99% of the day. I follow the rules...and then pretty much hang out and make sure everyone else does too.

 

I don't know where it's written that mods are supposed to lose all opinions or attitudes because they're mods.

 

Mods are just posters that delete threads and warn those that go way beyond the rules.
